Capture 14

This episode is named Moonrise. I usually don’t trust my Japanese skills but as far as I know, in Japanese, Tsuki means Moon. Tsukishima (月島) also has the Kanji in his name, which means moon again. So yeah, we can think of this episode as “the rise of Tsukishima”.

So will we learn why Tsukishima is a jerk to everybody? Does he have a dark past or something like that? Will he finally be more enthusiastic about Volley Ball ? And finally will he stops being an Ass to everybody ?

Tsukishima,more like Asshima… Am I right ?

lol

Not a lot of people get my sense of humor… OKAY LET’S GO !

This week, our little Volley ball crew is taking the bus to go Tokyo in the middle of the night. They all are pretty excited to meet all the other teams again. But things are still tense between Hinata and Kageyama, they haven’t spoke to each other yet.

Capture 5
eeeh … ?

During the first match, Kageyama tries to use what he learned last episode. He tries to change is way of tossing so that Hinata can hit it the ball at will. But his first attempt fails pretty badly. Everyone is surprised though, it’s not in Kageyama’s habit to change his way of tossing in order to fit the spiker. But oh well, Kageyama is not ready to give up after this failure and tries another time. This time even if the toss was too far, Hinata used his left arm and marked the point. After that, both of them realize that their techniques and styles have changed.
Capture 6                                                                                                          But there are not the only ones changing. All the team is improving. Asahi is practicing his “Jump service”, Nishinoya now, jumps to get the ball and they’re even trying to do synchronized attacks but it’s harder than it seems. So basically, the only one that hasn’t changed at all and who is not on his way to change is Tsukishima or Asshima.

At the end of the day, all the Karasuno members still want to practice even after climbing the hill of the death several times as a punishment for losing all their matches. Tsukishima remains the only one who thinks that practicing again is pointless. Because they’ve trained all day, there is no point in practicing  more. So he’s about to leave to take a hot bath but members of other teams ask him to help them practicing their spikes by blocking their attacks. They piss him off so much that he finally accepts.

Capture 13
Well…*Ahem* I won’t say no to a personal practice session with those guys …

Tsukishima can’t block the attacks of the Fukurodani guy ( the one with grey spiky hair, I forgot his name, sorry). But Kuroo, the one with spiky black hair is able to block the attacks. So yeah, it’s not impossible. They’ve also noticed that Tsukishima is not really trying to block the attacks so they piss him off again by saying that because Hinata and him are playing in the same position , the latter one is going to hold all the glory. Tsuki answers them in a detached way saying that it can’t be helped since Hinata as a natural talent that he doesn’t have. Even if he says that as a joke, I’m pretty sure that’s how he really feels, and I’m not the only one. Tsukishima basically thinks that Hinata is meant to be the center of attention, when he is in the dark covering Hinata’s back. Like the sun and the moon. Well at least that how I understood it.

Sans titre
Awwwn , they are so cute

But yes, Coach Ukai and almost everybody have noticed that Tsukishima isn’t giving his best. Therefore, the coach is ready to make some drastic changes in the team regular players. But he is aware that Tsukishima could become a really strong player, essential to the team defense, if only he wanted to.  That would be funny if Tsukishima get fired from the regular team to Yamaguchi’s benefit aha. Well, actually, that won’t be really funny but I kind of wish for that to happen. At least it will be interesting ʕ ᓀ ᴥ ᓂ ʔ

But overall, the team managed to keep his cohesion. With all the members evolving there’s obviously more tension, particularly between Hinata and Asahi. But for the moment everything seems to work pretty well. At one point Hinata restrains himself from taking Asahi’s ball even if he could have done so because he had the opportunity. By judging Asahi look at this time we can clearly see that he’s not ready to give his Ace position to Hinata.

In this episode we also see what might be the “Dark background story” of Tsukishima. Kanata’s sister mentioned that when she was at Karasuno High , there was another tall guy named Tsukishima in the Volley ball team. Also, judging by the little scene that we saw in this episode we can easily suppose that Tsukishima’s big brother was crazy about volley ball but also that things didn’t turn out so well for him. So that’s why Tsukishima doesn’t want to give his all, because maybe he is afraid to be disappointed or hurt… I dunno…

Overall, I was surprised that Tsukishima acted like he doesn’t care in front of the other team players, he really can change is personality pretty quickly. Also, even if I don’t like him, the scene in the cafeteria made me laugh. I didn’t know that the guys were able to laugh and have fun with him because most of the time they are bitching about him saying that he’s a jerk and stuff (not in really mean way though). The only one truly concerned about Tsukishima in a friendly way is Yamaguchi. Even if Asshima treats him as if he was the last shit in the world, Yamaguchi is still friendly and worried about his “friend”. Wow, we need to build you a statue someday Yamaguchi ” To the best friend that anyone could ever ask for”.

You should chill a bit Tsukishima

This episode did not make me change my mind about Tsukishima, he’s still a jerk. I like my Tsunderes way less jerky thank you. And I don’t think his “Dark background” story can justifies the fact that he’s a ass who likes to make fun of everyone all the time.

Next week on Haikyuu :  The training volley ball camp continues, and Asshima backstory story too. Yeah, more Tsukishima… Youhou..

They kinda screwed up the scene with Asahi’s “I GOT THIS”, I think. The scene had a lot more impressive impact in the manga, where there was just this black pressure enveloping him rather than a mild red… But that’s my opinion, so hey. Was still awesome.

Tsukki’s definitely an ass- I’d probably either hate him or love him in real life (because tsunderes are just how I roll). But I do think his story’s pretty emotional, though most of the blame falls on his bro- but more of that for next week!
