★ You need to greedily proclaim that you are indeed, the best ★
This week’s episode starts with Karasuno’s match against Nekoma. There’s a rivalry between Hinata and the Russian guy because he promised in the previous episode that he will stop Hinata’s quick attack no matter what. And that’s what he does, with terrifying speed and efficiency. Well that was quicker than excepted . On top of that he tries to provoke Hinata doing the “Matrix-come to me” hand move. Because of the Russian guy blocking his quick attack faster than anyone before, Hinata is now completely aware that this attack isn’t going to make the team win anymore. While remembering all the new strong players that he has met, Hinata gets all fired up, and even more decided to become stronger.
Then, during the second part of the match Asahi and Hinata bumped into each other. Although Hinata apologies a lot for his mistake (the ball was for Asahi), this little event makes everyone realize what Hinata is becoming. He is now ready to evolve, to become the new ace of the team because he wants to. Asahi in particular is afraid that Hinata might start fighting with him for the ball and that he could be “eaten up” by his power and his greed.
“In the end, those who do not want to change will not evolve. If that is what you wish for, even if you are the star of the court, the hero or the ace that brings forth the victory, you need to greedily proclaim that you are indeed: The best”- Coach Nekoma
Dang, what an accurate quote. I must add it to my “Sentences to say in real life so people think that you’re a cool and clever person” book. Thanks coach ʕ•̀ω•́ʔ✧
Indeed, Hinata is ready to level up. That’s right! like your crappy magikarp back in your Pokemon days, Hinata is now becoming a ginger Gyarados. In order to be the best pokemon trainer volley ball player, he has the idea of looking at the ball while doing the quick attack. By opening his eyes he would be able to choose the ball trajectory and to limit the chances for their adversaries to counter the quick attack. But the team is not convinced (even my dear Sugawara) by Hinata’s decision. They all think that he’s not capable of doing it because figuring what to do, in middle air, in a split second is almost impossible. Therefore there is not point in trying. Furthermore, it’s better for Hinata to concentrate on improving other attacks or his reception skills because the spring tournament will begin soon.
Kageyama especially, doesn’t want to toss the ball to Hinata if he’s not sure that he’s is going to make them win. Woooh, not cool Kageyama, that’s so season one what you’re saying right now. I thought we went over this issue 25 episodes ago. Move on a bit would you ? ʕ; •`ᴥ•´ʔ
But Hinata is stubborn. He really thinks that he can do it. So he asks Kageyama after leaving Tokyo to toss him some balls so that he can prove him that his proposition is not just plain bullshit. Kageyama accepts and with Yachi’s help, he tosses some balls to Hinata during god know how long. Because he’s getting distracted by the ball Hinata can’t jumped as high as usual. Kageyama wants Hinata to face the truth. The quick attack as it is now is his”Ultimate weapon” and there’s no way Hinata can change anything about it. ‘’Your will is not needed for this quick attack”. Harsh words Kageyama, Harsh words. But again, Hinata doesn’t give up so easily so they start arguing and then shouting at each other. At some point they actually come to blows so Yachi brought back Tanaka, who puts the fight to an end.
The next morning at school , the news of Kageyama and Hinata’s fight was reported to Asahi, Daichi and Sugawara by Tanaka. Daichi in particular thinks it’s better to let them be for now, it’s a part of their character, they fought before and they’re going to fight again. In the past, things worked out pretty well for both of them. Later on, in his shop, Coach Ukai realizes that if the duo can actually manage to do the quick attack in middle air while looking at the ball, they might become invincible. If only Hinata could hit the ball at will…
While going home with Yachi, Hinata finally confess his gay friendly feelings for Kageyama to her which makes them both cry. Indeed, Hinata consider Kageyama as his friend and partner. That’s cute ʕ→ᴥ←ʔ
Well, that was a tense episode with a lot of character development for Hinata. Although he never hide his desire to become the “new little giant” and the new Ace of the team, it might be the first time that the team really realize that and what is implied. Hinata is now ready to become the champion and wants to improve more than ever. I’m also a bit worried of how the relationship between Asahi and Hinata will evolve. It reminded me of Sugawara and Kageyama issue in the first season. When the new talented setter is about to replace the old one. If they repeat the same case scenario with Asahi and Hinata it could be hard to maintain the team coalition. But I’m pretty optimistic on this one, I’m sure everything is going to work out in the end ᵔᴥᵔ This season seems to bring us a lot of drama (I like it !)
Well, well, well…There was a lot of tension and shouting in this episode so I propose to finish on a sweeter note, with Sugawara. He could melt anybody’s frozen heart ◟ʕ´∀`ʔ◞
I seriously need to stop fangirling. I beginning to be afraid of myself ʕ◉ᴥ◉ʔ
I just did a marathon this series about two weeks ago, and I am OBSESSED. I can’t believe I hadn’t watched it sooner! After I watched this episode, I was so impatient for the next one I just ran straight to the manga to read- and caught up to the latest chapter in just 2 hours. WELP. MORE CLIFFHANGERS. Hinata is the best! <3
I can relate to his passion for the sport a lot. = v =It was definitely a tense and emotional scene to see Hinata and Kageyama fight it out over the toss. Hinata is not a fault for wanting to improve. Yes he may be greedy right now, but ultimately, he has the right mindset because he is aware of what he needs to improve on and is motivated to do so. 🙁
