I swear to god, if Shinji loses… this is going to fuck up- wait cliffhanger? For real? FOR REAL? Well, I can’t say I expected that to happen. I figured Yuuya would win by default, but after watching this episode I have to say I honestly don’t want Yuuya to win- which is unfortunate for me because he more or less likely will (unless by some miracle, they end on a draw). Shinji is better off winning simply to trigger the revolution and make sure it actually begins. I was not impressed with how Yuuya got back into the game. The bloody reliance on the stupid action-card again and the stupid ass-pull by conveniently introducing a new monster to accommodate this situation to further the possibility of getting him back into the game, and as well will lead into introducing Jack’s so-called “useless” card he has been waiting to use in next week’s episode. I know it is in a way inevitable because it has to happen at some point, but I feel like smart writing can make it work without it feeling like an ass-pull/bail out card. I know ARC-V has a very clever and strong writing team, so naturally as I think highly of them, I do have higher expectations than usual.
Shinji, much to my relief didn’t act as the “Jerk of the Week” considering all he did was tell Yuuya the truth and the reminder of how things work in their messed up society. The only thing that people might be angry at Shinji for is telling Yuuya he will use him as his stepping stone to kick off his revolution. But in all honesty, what else could you possibly expect? This guy is on a mission to bring change to this corrupt and twisted way of society, he isn’t going to let anything stop him from doing that. However, this is precisely why I would prefer Shinji to win, or at least have the duel end in a draw. The revolution is essential, it will create all sorts of chaos, and I don’t know what the heck is going to happen to the movement if Shinji is defeated here. Will they lose their momentum and crawl back into the shadows, or will they find the courage to revolt regardless of his loss? Either way, as I already established, regardless if Yuuya wins- I will not be happy with it solely because of how he got back into the game. I have said this a million times- I absolutely despite the Action Cards and how much Yuuya freaking relies on it- and it certainly doesn’t help they added a new monster in this particular fight (which might end up being one of the materials used for Timegazer Magician’s new form). Unless Yuuya were to echo Shinji’s message to the crowd, of how he agrees there must be change by showcasing how he too can “comeback” with a monster perceived as useless and weak, then maybe- just maybe it might work out- but I won’t be holding my breath for it.
I have heard there has been much discussion about Sora’s potential redemption. And frankly, while he did save Yuzu and made the efforts to let Yuuya know she is alive and safe, I can’t bring myself to trust him just yet. He could be pulling a trick of pretending to help them in order to build up on their broken trust, and taking advantage of Yuzu’s accident is an efficient way of doing so. The primary reason why I am not jumping onto the Sora Redemption bandwagon is because I don’t recall him seeing a slightest hint of him actually regretting his actions. With Dennis having been caught as the mole, naturally the Lancers will be guarded, but the difference is how Yuuya and Sora had a stronger relationship than Yuuya had with Dennis. I am not sure how easily Yuuya would trust Sora despite having saved Yuzu, but I would hope he would be at least reluctant.
That being said, I am glad we were at least given an update about Yuzu’s condition and how she was saved. Now it is just a matter of how long she will be out of commission. Hopefully she won’t be stuck in a coma and is just temporarily unconscious, but we will have to wait and see how Sora will act from here on out. This would technically be the best time for him to bring her back to Academia, but the question now is- did he truly have a change of heart for the better? Or is he bidding his time so he can try and return with both Yuzu and Selena? I have no choice but to wait and see- because we know just how insane Sora can be. We’re seeing him as the fluffy innocent kid everyone thought he was right now- so naturally we should be wary of his actions.
It was a fascinating moment to have seen the audience in the crowd (both Tops and Commons) actually reacted the way they should towards Sergey. They were actually stunned and horrified of Sergey’s actions. The reality sunk into the audience minds of this is what he does to every duelist he faces, and they were disgusted. It is such a joke though because the duel between Dennis and Shun was similar in form of chaos, yet throughout the entire brawl, they were cheering despite the fact the freaking stadium was being destroyed right before their eyes. Dennis was trying to eliminate Shun (and vice versa), yet they failed to identify with that.
Lastly we did see Yuugo take it hard with Yuzu’s loss and accident. He vowed to inherit her will, so his duel against Selena (I believe?) will be an interesting one, especially if he does focus on Yuzu’s message. Further more, I wonder what sort of discussion they might be able to have on the field regarding Selena’s counterparts.
I see nothing good coming from such a revolution because not only does Roger have something planned to easily deal with it as was hinted when he hoped they riot during Shinji’s duel against Tsukikage, but also that it would make Academia’s inevitable invasion that much easier. Plus Shinji kinda fails to see the symbolism of his Bee Force deck as the bees (Commons) sacrifices themselves to protect the hive and queen (Top).
Also Enlightened Paladin likely has to do with Yuyas Berserk Mode, as its been described as Enlightened Mode by the creators.
Ahahahah excellent point with the bee symbolism.
I look forward to learning more about the Enlightened Paladin :3
The only thing I don’t like about Shinji is him using his opponents making them play the bad when they truly having nothing to do with it (him antagonizing Tsukikage after already stating he’s on no one’s side & recent using Yuya to try making his point across). Regardless of his action are somewhat understandable but Commons aren’t much different from Tops with how less they care about any person that loses and can’t make up their but to worry about threats. The Council are also one of the least people who should call out on Reiji with the whole fact it’s their faults in the majority as well as they literally nothing for support. And at last we truly see how much Jean backfired himself(again smoke move) but it’s unknown if Sora’s saving Yuzu out of using Yuya or if he truly cares. Overall, Yuya next episode using Sam’s card would symbolize that Jack was misunderstood despite it’s effect and give true hope for equality hence “Enlightenment”.
Yeah, I gotta disagree, I’m happily awaiting for Shinji to lose. Yes, I understand and sympathize with his cause, but as mentioned before by someone else, a revolution like that would make it easier for Academia to destroy Synchro.
(My general dislike of Shinji also TOTALLY doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that I’m terrifed of bees and the less I have to see of them on my screen the better. Nope. No siree. Nothing to do with it. >.>)
As much as I can see with where you’re coming from (freaking Action Card why), I don’t want Shinji to win. Shinji is so full of hypocritical ideals that his revolution seems destined to fail, even if he does manage to overrun Tops. If he can’t change the minds of City’s dwellers, he’ll never be able to make it an equal place to live. Also, between his unrestrained anger and willingness to crush those who haven’t wronged him underfoot, I really can’t help but see him as Kurosaki Shun v2, which honestly just adds to not wanting to see him beat Yuya. I could see Shinji potentially starting his revolution in the underground, particularly if he’s willing to work with the fallen Lancers and Tokumatsu, so I don’t think it ends here if he loses to Yuya (which… plot armor).
We’ll have to see if summoning the Enlightened Paladin requires Berserk mode or maybe syncing with Yugo, but I think the duel writing has very much become “Let’s advertise all these new cards and forget that the character had a deck outside of them!” so that might not happen.
I was so elated when Yuzu wasn’t apprehended by security! I was however quite surprised that it was Sora who rescued her… I’ll be honest, from day one i never thought much of Sora. He seemed like the kind of character who was obviously up to something and even when it was revealed i feel they either make him too crazy or laid back. I’m just really indifferent to him… So, whenever he appears sometimes it just feels like a throwback.
I quite disagree with saying a revolution needs to be started by Reiji. Let me clarify by saying it’s not that i don’t think a revolution NEEDS to be started at this point and also Shinji is basically playing the city’s game to get to the top like Jack Dicklas did (sorry but his passivity does piss me off a bit, at least in 5ds he showed emotion, the only exception is at that dinner with Reiji). He’s following the same path as Jack and i don’t see how that would inspire the commons once they realise. I think they would start to distrust him if he became the new king, even if he didn’t change… I think the revolution is going to happen anyway, whether Shinji wins or not.
That wording about overthrowing society does leave me to be a little uneasy because the commons people are society. I think they are mostly the ones who only cheer for the winners with the losers forgotten. So i think Yuya’s plea to get them to understand that that way of thinking is wrong i think would be the first step to try and alter it rather than insight a revolution at this current point because Shinji is encouraging that state of mind otherwise (probably the whole point, but still kind of stupid).
A pattern the audience is hearing not just from Yuya and Shinji, but practically most of the duelists is that the City’s idealogy of winners being remembered and the losers forgotten is wrong. So i think eventually that will hit them all hard…
In terms of the duel, i actually don’t mind Yuya’s use of action cards really. I do find it awesome how he flips over with his D-wheel to get the action card (even though it was established in 5ds that riding one alone was pretty hard let alone perform tricks. But hey let’s fuck physics!). I will admit that i was a little despondent that he didn’t have a trap card he could lay down as a counterattack… although a thought did just strike me is that maybe the reason they don’t lay down as many traps or magic cards face down as before is because there are so many monsters now with effects that destroy or negate the effects of those cards face down. Just a thought….
I am excited that Yuya is finally synchro summoning, i can’t wait to see his new monster!
As with Yugo vs Selena, I’m kind of sad with that match up because i get the feeling the writers want Yugo and Yuya to duel (how did i know? no reason *watches opening 3*). Because of this i think Selena’s going to have to lose. Which is really sad because i wanted her and Yuya to duel first, before the match up with him and Yugo, as we haven’t seen them duel against each other… Not to mention Selena is AWESOME!! i don’t want her to lose! She is totally badass! she doesn’t deserve it!!
Not Reiji i meant Shinji!
Also meant ignite a revolution! God what is up with my wording!?
First of all, Sergey is so absolutely deranged, I could barely even stand to watch that scene. Like you said, I am glad though that the tops and commons all had the common sense to see him for what he really was. I hate this guy so much, I really hope we get to see Shun or Yugo or SOMEONE crush him sometime soon.
Also, I seriously adored Yugo’s scene, however short it was. In the time he knew Yuzu, he seriously bonded with her like he did with Rin. That’s part of the reason I want Yugo to beat Sergey, so he can avenge her. I really wasn’t expecting that serious and emotional a response from him, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Yugo show some character development.
Yeah, Shinji was a bit more antagonised than I think he deserved to be. On the one hand, it was annoying that he couldn’t even issue an “I’m sorry” to Yuya, but he’s not really doing anything BAD. He wants to change the society in the city for the better, and the Lancers from another dimension don’t really have the right to intervene.
Shinji losing might be interesting, but I’m not sure how likely it is. It’s also implied by the intro that Yuya will go Berserk to summon his new card, so I’m interested to see if something Shinji says sets him off.
As for Sora… I’m not sure how I feel yet. I never really liked him that much and it seems like he’s been making a bunch of suspicious plays lately. It’s just weird, and I don’t know where things are going with him. Still, if Yuri shows up, I can almost guarantee Sora will be on his side first and foremost- since opposing Yuri doesn’t sound like a safe move.
