Allrighty, so we’re back with even more actual plot from this show! Hooray! Well… kind of plot. I mean..it’s GENERALLY related..so..that counts in my book. Hey, I’m taking what I can get here. Still, this episode doesn’t really betray what’s been going on so…Whatever, s’all good. So what happens in this episode? Well, let’s find out.

So the episode starts up with Ushio on a bus to his next destination. Hey. Remember when Ushio was on a bus a few episodes ago and it was attacked and the bus got destroyed? Yeah…hm…I wonder what’s going to happen this time…

Why of course! The EXACT SAME THING! You’d think that Ushio would…you know, NOT use buses as the first time it ended terribly and the second time…probably wasn’t going to end much better…and it didn’t .

So the motorcycle guy shows up to help save the people as well as Ushio and with the power of the spear and magical farts, they save everyone.

See? See? You thought I was joking. But no, it actually looks like a magical fart.

After they destroy the minor demons, Ushio begins to get depressed and the motorcycle guys says he’ll only give him a lift if he gets rid of his depressed face. You know, basically a line ripped right out of kingdom hearts.

Now i'm imagining the motorcycle guy saying that in Donald's voice.

However as they start up, they are interrupted by a motorcycle group. The group is led by the sister of a guy who’s one of the four possible candidates to wield the spear. She questions him about it, but then a giant demon thing attacks them which apparently is controlled by her brother.

well...he showed up fast
well…he showed up fast

Turns out that he has been possessed by the big baddie and is trying to kill the wielder of the beast spear (aka Ushio). Ushio and Tora defeat the purple….monster…thing and the sister begs them not to hurt her brother. He fights with the evil inside him and then escapes.

Ushio realizes that there’s some good in him and asks that mirror demon from a few episodes ago to ask the OTHER old man demon he met a few episodes ago how to remove the mind control. He says that a human can’t, but if he were to become a spirit with the power of the spear he might be able to.

We then get the backstory of the brother and sister about she was in danger one time and he saved her but he looked a little crazy afterwards.

Great. Now the brother is a yandere

Then the brother shows up, fights them, starts to regain control and throws himself off a cliff after realizing what he did. Seemingly about to kill himself.

And that’s where the episode ends.

Honestly, if you couldn’t tell from my recap, i wasn’t really a big fan of this episode. I didn’t stop and think to myself, “Man, this show really needs an evil mind controlled brother subplot”. It seems unnecessary to me, with there only being 2 possible reasons for having this be here. 1 because it shows how evil the big baddie is (which we already knew) or 2 to have this guy be saved and be one of Ushio’s many friends as well as the sister.

Because honestly, if they were to kill the brother here, that would not only be a waste of a character, but a complete waste of an episode. It would be like “oh, here’s a character! oops. We killed him. Hope you liked that arc!” It just seems like if they DID kill him, this episode would be entirely wasteful.

There’s nothing in this episode that made me go “Damn, I’m glad I watched this episode!” It’s one of those “Oh…okay. So…I guess there’s an evil brother now because of mind control?”

(twirls finger in air) (unenthused) yayyyy
(twirls finger in air) (unenthused) yayyyy

They threw these 2 characters at you as well as their backsstory and they’re like “FEEL BAD FOR THEM! FEEL BAD DAMN YOU!” And…I haven’t known them long enough to GIVE a single shit. Oh well. As Ivan Drago would say “If he dies…he dies.”

All in all, I GUESS this has to do with the plot, but I just want him to get to his mother already. I don’t really give a single crap about these “Destined to have wielded the spear” people. They aren’t, Ushio is, let’s move on and get to his mother. Seriously. My caring meter’s at like…zero.
