Each week of Gangsta I find myself thinking that this show is really just amazing. There’s so much about it that has been done before, but there is also so much about it that is fresh and new. I also find myself thinking what a wonderful cast of characters it has. If not a little large and hard to get a handle on in one viewing. I think I really came to appreciate this as this episode skipped around to highlighting some important moments for side characters. Like learning just how important that Dr. Theo is to the city.
From the moment I saw Dr. Theo I knew he would probably be one of my favorite characters. This still holds entirely true, not only because he’s a doctor that can subdue these super strong people with a few needles. This episode shows to us just how much all of the Twilight’s in the city depend on him. He’s the only doctor that will care for them. He also makes the medicine for them, that they would die without.
I absolutely adore that Alex asks if he’s like a super strong Twilight, trying to figure out how he keeps all these super strong guys in line. It’s really sweet too see him care for them though. See him take care of the abandoned and orphaned Twilight children of the city.
Twilight children it seems like some of them used to have a home in the city. An Institution that took care of them before it was attacked years ago. That’s when Danny and Erica were separated from one another. It shows us a younger Nicolas and Worick at the scene. Showing us that they have been involved in this towns affairs for a while.
I liked this, and I also liked one other scene. Where Worick is doing that thing he does and identifying the bodies and Cody asks about why the Handymen are independent. Basically, Worick’s memory and Nick’s raw strength from his overdoses make them far too dangerous to be part of a family. They’d be killed off for sure.
We also get more important information on the Twilights as Alex reads through a thing of news paper clippings that Worick had stored away in his desk. About their expected life, about what happens if they don’t take the medicine for too long. Have I mentioned before that this series kills me? Because, seeing all that written. We know it will probably happen to Nicolas if he doesn’t kill himself in the line of battle first.
Speaking of the line of battle, as we come to our series ending. It seems as if we’re working our way up to a major fight. Though somehow, I can’t imagine this all wrapping up in two episodes. The Twilight Hunters are on the move, Doug is in danger. The traitor in the Monroe family has a gun to Mr. Monroe. Erica is still out there somewhere along with Mikhail.
Not to mention Alex’s brother and his involvement with the Twilight hunters. It’s a lot to go through with only two episodes left in the season. I’m hoping it’s setting us up for a season two.
Any which way you look at this, I’m pumped. I just have a few characters i’d rather not see die. Time to hold my breathe and pray.
