I don’t know whether or not I should consider it to be a blessing that I don’t have to wait a whole week for the following episodes. Episode 65 was similar to, but not quite a recap episode. In fact, while it did contain many recycled scenes, at least there was a valid purpose for doing so. See, for the first time, Yuuya took it upon himself to look back at his loss against Jack to try and analyze and understand how and where he went wrong. This is particularly important for Yuuya’s character development since we have seen his losses can sometimes bring down his spirits and he would normally be hung up on the loss rather than making the effort to understand how it happened in the first place. Yuuya finally understands he needs to do this in order to become stronger. He acknowledged the mistakes he made (being taunted into simply trying to beat Jack), and failed to be focused. It upsets him how he was dancing in the palm of Jack’s hand, and then be ridiculed as a failure of an entertainer (now being tagged with the nickname: The Inexperienced).

We were given more insight of the Commoners’ opinion regarding Jack’s position as King. The opinions are more or less equally divided. Some like Yuugo still consider Jack a hero, shining ray of hope- others like Crow and Sam, identify him as a traitor, since they have seen changes in his character. We learned more about this issue from Sam, the quiet service boy whom we had met last week.

Now here’s the thing about Sam. He didn’t talk to Yuuya in the previous episode because he wasn’t allowed to, but he took it upon himself to break the rules (as he is a fellow common) who is entrusting his wish for Yuuya and the others to dethrone Jack. Sam entrusted Yuuya a card which Jack had given him. The card is a low level and attack monster, but if we learned anything from Shun’s deck, never underestimate the power of low level/ATK monsters. In fact, I am so aware of this that I can’t help but feel Sam may have (understandably) misunderstood Jack’s words and gesture, so I am giving Jack the benefit of the doubt despite his cold explanation for his ‘gift’. The card and Jack’s cold words can be interpreted in two ways. It can be read as being insulted or mocked just as Sam feels, or it can be interpreted as Jack providing Sam a card that represents him, along the intentions of wanting him make a statement with that card. The statement I interpret is about proving the Commoners may not have a high status (high level) and may not have money (low attack), but they can still put up a fight and beat the Tops.

In other news, the board has taken some strict measures to ensure the (temporary) safety to the Lancers, including Yuugo and Yuzu. They are well aware of Jean seeing them as threats, and took it upon themselves to have the Lancers stay in their luxurious penthouse above their facility instead of the hotels, where all the contestants would normally stay. However make no mistake, they don’t have any freedom to roam the facility, which prevents Yuuya and Yuzu from being able to talk and meet. They are all locked in their rooms and will only be granted permission to leave when it is time for their match.

Next episode! The opening match will be Crow VS Gongenzaka. I am not entirely sure whether or not I will be able to write multiple entries today since I am still dizzy, but my goal is (if I am in form to do so), to try and get Episode 66 out later in the afternoon. For now, it’s time to rest!

PS: When Yuuya acts like a lost puppy is freaking hilarious and adorable.

A/N: Hey guys, apologizes for the delay, I am in still in progress of my recovery, but I am somewhat well enough to blog a bit since I can now write and watch the shows without feeling nauseous (I’m still dizzy though, but at least I am no longer seeing double vision and the room isn’t spinning like an endless marathon of super fast ring-around-the-rosie). Besides my health crisis with the vertigo condition, MonoSubs’ Episode 65 was delayed for two weeks and had only came out a day ago. Now while there were alternative subs, I didn’t want switch sub groups since I am very familiar how different subs can be varying from the groups (something I expirenced BIG TIME while I was watching 5Ds). So no matter what, no matter how late it is, I will stick with MonoSubs as long as they are running.

Other people have made the same theory about the card given to Sam. I for one will also wait until later to form my opinion on Jack.

First of all EVAAAAA!!! I’m glad you’re back! I though you had died or something, I’m so glad you’re alive! T7T
How’s your recovery going? Are you going to be alright? Best wishes, I hope if you feel better, I can wait forever for you as long as you take care of your health first!
Hu-hu, well, to not make this turn into a spam I need to say something about the episode right?
I like that Yuya is thinking about how the duel went, I always enjoy Yuya getting character development!
I think Jack do have a point, Yuya said that he would show his entertaining dueling but he didn’t make any of his trademark acts as an entertainment duelist, focusing to beat Jack, no wonder he accused him of doing it for his self satisfaction, he didn’t show at all how he acts as an entertainer.
I got mildly pissed at Sam for accusing Jack like that, it’s a tuner, already a plus, and it’s a tuner with effects, and when cards has low levels AND LOW STATS it usually means the effect is probably very good, also, Dark Magician Expy, Hi!
I found this a strange episode as I couldn’t grasp Jack’s personality, he doesn’t feel as Hammy as his 5D’s counterpart, he seems much more serious, so who knows? I’m also giving him the benefit of doubt.
That scene where Yuya was shouting in hopes of Yuzu hearing him and Yuzu being worried sick about Yuya, MY HEART! You guys are gonna kill me with feels! I also found Yuya’s little dance hilarious too XD

Thank youuu!~ ; v ; Oh my god, I never thought I would say this, but experiencing vertigo is (probably) even worse than tendonitis. I mean, I could not get out of bed, I was scared shittless when I woke up and I realized everything was spinning and I couldn’t get up or talk, and god forbid walking! Thank god I insisted to see the doctor the day it happened, I was able to get some strong medicine to manage it so that I am not always nauseated by the slightest movement! Still with medicine, forced to stay in bed for days and pretty much sleep because that’s all you can do. Couldn’t walk, couldn’t talk, couldn’t watch TV, couldn’t play games, couldn’t read- if I did so, It would risk me throwing up non-stop! UGH! D: IT WAS SO BORING!!!!!!
I am still pretty dizzy but I am certainly making progress as I am able to now sit at the computer and write (but holy shit it’s extremely draining, I had to take a nap earlier because I was even dizzier after I finished all the entries that needed to be caught up to- it was worth it though). I have an appointment for physiotherapy tomorrow, so here’s to hoping it will speed up the recovery!
I am relieved to hear the fandom is giving Jack the benefit of the doubt by interpreting the meaning of the card in a positive light. If there’s one thing ARC-V Jack might have in common with 5Ds Jack, is that neither of them are very good at expressing themselves and can come off as cold and arrogant when in fact they are trying to do something helpful or nice. I too am waiting to find out more about what kind of personality ARC-V Jack has as we have only been given insight (AKA opinions) from third parities perspective, and not so much from the man himself.

I’d say that the writers have been supremely unsubtle with the card that Jack gave to Sam. Anyone who’s seen 5Ds or played the game with a Synchro deck even once knows that Synchro decks are usually all about using lots of low-level monsters to make big strong ones. The symbolism is obvious, and it fits neatly in the theme of the whole arc: the Commons are poor and weak individually. But they are many, and if they band together, the result is going to be much more than the sum of the parts. That’s how Synchro Summoning works!

I wasn’t aware all these reviews went up, glad they did though.
I found the revelation that Jack actually held back very interesting, Yuya already lost very badly, but the fact that Jack actually chose to play it dangerously only served to rub salt in the wounds. Yuya may have lost before, but never that badly (in fact I don’t think any Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist lost that badly in a serious duel).
I really the idea that everyone has a different view of Jack, that actually feels like how people would really respond to jack, some see him as a hero, others a traitor, and some as just someone who was always meant to be pert of the Tops.
I also agree with you and everyone else online, that kid may have gotten Jack’s message wrong, especially considering Tuner’s have often been an allegory for the potential to change and grow.
Sam: here Yuya, jack gave me this card as an insult, take it and beat his @$$!
Yuya: Um, are you sure that he was insulting you? yeah this card is weak but it has a good effect and it’s a Tuner.
    Sam: What’s a Tuner?
Yuya:…You don’t know how to play this game do you?
Sam: uh well… can I have my card back?
    Yuya: Nope, mine now, thanks.
