Well, now that the battle’s over, you know that we have to have a whole lot of nothing happen, as per the laws of a Shonen show. And this show is no exception. So, what boringness are we going to have this week? Well settle down kiddies and i’ll tell you.

So for the first minute or so we have some people in the arena talking to each other about how Duckface was important, but without wet blanket’s strategies, they couldn’t have won.

"isn't this exciting?" "no."
“isn’t this exciting?”
“no.”

Following this, the young girl who was talking to them disrespects bitchface by ignoring her and she’s emotionally hurt by it. I wouldn’t normally put this in a review as it’s very minor, but it’s bitchface’s pain so…I felt I had to mention it.

She truly is the only character whose pain brings me joy

Duckface then decides to have a solo ranking match with that kid who taught him grasshopper earlier and they run off together.

The team’s HQ person from their branch then shows up as well as a bunch of people and they begin to talk about really absolutely nothing. There’s something about how she used to be in HQ and was with another team but i was kinda zoning in and out because I didn’t really care all that much. Wet blanket asks about Fujin (the black trigger) and he’s told that there’s a few people who could use it at HQ so it’s kind of being passed around like a communal black trigger when needed.

Do you check it out with like...a library card or something?

Meanwhile the big guy who is training Chika (god there’s so many people in this show I can’t even begin to learn all their names. Off the top of my head I know like….. 6 of their names) is worried about Chika because she always seems to put herself in harm’s way and has no self preservation. The HQ girl tells him that’s because she feels guilty for everything that’s going on. He says he’ll have a talk with her.

After Duckface finishes the match with the guy, another guy shows up who’s in a group they’re going to be facing. I call him “generic guy”

"I have no distinguishing features whatsoever unless you count the fact that I have no pupils"
“I have no distinguishing features whatsoever unless you count the fact that My eyes are 50% pupil)

Duckface really wants to fight this guy, but everyone says it’s a bad idea. Generic guy agrees but says that the conditions are that it has to be a 10 round match and there has to be a 15 minute break inbetween. Like a dumb ass, duckface agrees.

At the end of the first 5 matches, Duckface wins 4-1, but after 15 minutes, generic guy beats him 5-0 and wins. (Duhh couldn’t have seen that one coming)

He says it’s because his side effect is “increased sleep learning” which, in all honesty, is fucking stupid. When would that EVER be useful in battle? Like…when will he ever fight a neighbor, leave, get a chance to sleep, and then come back and fight? Unless you’re training with other people, that is one of the stupidest side effects in term of fighting. And also, it’s kind of cheating. If we’re going to go that route buddy, how about we let duckface use his black trigger? Oh no? You want to use your stupid sleep bullshit? All right. Fine. Cheater.

Yeah, that's right. I called you a cheater sleepy mcgenericfuck. Whatchou gonna do about it? sleep on me?
Yeah, that’s right. I called you a cheater sleepy mcgenericfuck. Whatchou gonna do about it? sleep on me?

Meanwhile back with the big guy and Chika he tells her a story about how his dad was a rescue worker and died on the job. She says “oh, you must think he’s a hero.” and I laughed because he was like “pff, no, he died on the job. He shouldn’t have done that.” He tells her that she needs to be more self preservative and not throw her life away. She understands and it’s all warm and fuzzy.

That’s…really all that happens in this episode.

Yeah…if you couldn’t tell, I wasn’t very thrilled in this episode. Not a whole lot happened and it was mainly setup for the next round as well as talking about nothing. This series seems to have a lot of that. They’ll do some stuff, and then talk about that stuff for a good long while before they go back to doing more stuff. I think I know what they’re doing with this show. They have about 8ish episodes left before the 50 episode mark and I think that’s where they’re taking their sweet time to wrap up this ranking war thing because they’re going to take their break after it’s over. They are definitely stretching this and it shows.

This while ranking war thing could have been over in about 5 episodes if they just sped it up. It’s taking a long time to go somewhere we know they’re eventually going to get to anyway.

"Seriously? We're not done with this battle stuff yet?"
“Seriously? We’re not done with this battle stuff yet?”

I wish I could say i’m interested in this ranking wars thing but….i’m really not. They’re fighting people that I really don’t care about who they are and now they’re bringing in yet ANOTHER guy like I should care who the fuck this guy is. There’s WAY too many characters already dude. Develop them before you bring in another 10.

This was an episode of nothing. It wasn’t bad, it was just nothing and the score reflects my interest.

Episode 4/10
