“Chamot has never tortured anyone before, but she’ll do her best!”
“I once entered a martial arts tournament in the Yellow Fruits Country. In the first round, I screwed up and killed my opponent! Then everyone else withdrew. Too bad.”
“When the Demon God awoke, I was at home. Mom and Dad got me ready for the journey.”
Is anyone else finding Chamot hilarious? I can’t take her seriously at all. I think she’s too strong for her own good, especially as a kid, so it’s surprising that Maura is even able to rein her in somehow. But I still love how casual she is about everything – she was even playing with those guns and stuff. All the other Braves talk about how they were hunting the Brave-Killer or close to the Land of Howling Demons when they got their seals, and Chamot is just like: ‘oh, but for me it was Tuesday’. I don’t think it was her who activated the barrier though. She may be spoiled, and a little creepy, but I don’t think she’s a traitor – she’s not even in circumstances that would make it exciting if she were to be the fake. It’s like how I don’t think it’s Goldof because he’s made himself out to be that loyal of a guy.
In general, I don’t know much about locked room mysteries, but the assumptions Hans is making in accusing Adlet aren’t confirmed in the first place. Can the door really not be shut again once it’s been opened? And is the only entrance really the one through the door? Isn’t there a possibility of remote activation of some sort – can we trust the assumption that the only way to activate the thing is to put the sword in the dais? I know the first of those is likely to be true, but the others can’t be confirmed – what Hans is saying has the same issue as what Fremy pointed out to Maura – that in the end, someone is lying about something. I don’t mean to say that I think Hans is the fake, because I don’t, but he could still be wrong about things at the same time. There’s also that discrepancy about the king never telling him about the barrier or something, but that’s still kind of confusing for now. Cool guy by the way, that Hans. Goldof, not so much. I didn’t like how he kept dragging Fremy around. That really wasn’t cool.
Fremy needs a real break. I’m glad everyone else is slowly coming round to the idea that she may not be the fake, although I get that it may not excuse her crimes of killing potential Braves in the past – but something’s clearly happened to her, and while she may not want to talk about it for now, it was enough to make her want to genuinely kill off the Demon God. There was so much self-loathing in her expression as she talked about believing the Demon God was a wonderful thing… seriously, they should at least unchain her and give her that gun back or something. She never killed Adlet after all that time, even though Adlet may have had his mirror, and if she was the fake it’d be in her best interests to kill him and then pretend to be one of the real six. I wonder how life must even be like to be raised by Fiends – although before that, thinking about how Fremy was even conceived is already nightmare fuel.
So I don’t think it’s Hans or Goldof. If it’s Fremy, the writers are horrible, soulless people. Chamot… I mean, she’s the Saint of Swamps, and she sounds like someone who can do fog stuff, but I’m not feeling it from her. I don’t think it’s the most resourceful man in the world either, as I’ve said before – but he has dug himself into a slight hole, because he did recount his story wrongly. He didn’t head straight in after blowing up the door, did he? There was a time interval in which he wasn’t paying attention – and he could have been distracted by having to fight the guards. That leaves Maura, who has cleverly distracted attention away from herself by taking charge of the situation, and bunny girl, who is now feeling random dizzy spells for some reason. I started to find her red eyes really creepy this episode too, which was weird. Even more than Fremy’s hidden eye.
No but seriously, stop bullying Fremy.
I am not privy to any other information aside from that the show has given us but I’m willing to bet that the traitor is Goldolf. He, being so invested in protecting his princess got a false seal so he could be near her in her time of need. This also match with the idea that it was him that activated the barrier in order to keep her away from demon country and danger. Mark my words 🙂
He’s strong in his own right, though. I remember Nashetania saying to him, “If even I was chosen, then there’s no way you weren’t.” I actually could see him faking being a Brave to be near her, but if the Demon God isn’t stopped then presumably her life is endangered even further, along with the rest of humanity’s. I don’t think it’s him as he’s a loyal guy, but… I guess there is such a thing as being too loyal?
Speculation fun time? sure why not
bunnygirl: Remembering comments from last time, i want to nominate the bunny girl just for fun and er.. my reason.. she is the saint of SWORDS and it was necessary to put in the ritual SWORD. she suddenly feels dizzy after the barrier activated even though nothing happened and she wants to reaffirm the ADLET believes in her beeing innocent.. seems legit i guess
Hans: because ninja and its his job to get into closed rooms to assassinate
chamot: because its a creepy little child that accidently kills and want to kill fremy at all costs and was preparing with his parents..
gordof: hmm.. maybe because he looks like a dark/death-knight and is obsessed with his bunny
maura: who knows and with her abilities maybe she was able to disable the seal and put another one afterwards which would be the reason why there was no death-trap after adlet forced the door open
Let them games begin
Aha, it’s activated with a sword! I didn’t think of that. The whole ‘I am the mistress of the barrier’ thing was enough to put me on guard, but there’s definitely that too.
Most of the Fremy bullying (at least from Goldov) is anime-only material and not in the original novel, I guess they really want to rack up her sympathy points. I like her character, but it was ridiculously over the top. The chaining her up and suggesting torturing her is from the original work, though, whoops. It’s important to remember that most of them have never met her before and only know her as the Brave Killer, and now that they have a fake they also are automatically suspicious of everyone in the group — it’s not surprising that they’d disarm her. If you ran into a known murderer, no matter how cute she was or how harmless she seemed at the moment, I’d hope you wouldn’t leave a gun in her hands.
Of course, if we’re talking known murderers, Chamo qualifies too. That being said, Fremy did nearly kill her, so unfortunately considering her personality that means (to her) that she has a right to kill back, lol.
I guess so. It just feels like they’re concentrating too much on the fact that she was the Brave Killer instead of focusing more on how she had absolutely nothing to gain from acting in the way she’s done since she met Adlet – only Hans and Adlet himself seem to be doing that. They should really be watching out for people trying to put themselves in a position of authority, or strange bunny girls who fall over randomly and have panic attacks.
