Honestly fuck this show for making me worry about Takeo’s mom and the baby. I thought she was going to have a stillborn or there would be a really bad complication like a C-section or something and I was terrified. Turns out that Takeo’s mother was holding in her contractions until they were too much for her
I absolutely adore Takeo’s mother. She’s so chill about everything. Even though she’s near her due time, she still does things normally like clean the floors and carry bags of rice and even go out for a quick power walk. Of course all of this freaks out Takeo and his father, and both of them try to do everything for her so she doesn’t strain herself. And honestly I understand, I wouldn’t want a pregnant women to be lifting heavy things and crouching and cleaning. I’d want the woman to be chilling on the couch or something, but unfortunately Takeo’s mother isn’t like that. She’s an incredibly strong woman. But she’s also really selfless too. She was always the type of person to help other people, particularly cute girls. That was actually the reason why Takeo’s father fell in love with her and married her, and he actually wanted to protect her. But after all these years, he’s never gotten the chance to because honestly she doesn’t need any protecting. She got this. Though I really wish either Takeo or his father accompanied her on her walk so she didn’t have to catch the woman that fell on the stairs, because right there is when I thought shit was going to do downhill and she hurt the baby. ALSO IT THERE WAS SNOW OUTSIDE AND I THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO SLIP ON THE STAIRS TOO. GOD.
I’m guessing not to worry her son and husband, she didn’t mention the contractions and just carried on like nothing was wrong. But the pains became too much and Takeo and Suna took her to the hospital, where she was kept there. Takeo goes home to take care of some chores, Suna and Yamato come over to help. Oh yeah, Yamato! She got along really well talking to Takeo’s mom and she gave her a safe birth charm, which I thought was absolutely sweet. Yamato is an angel.
The next day Takeo visits his mother after school (along with Suna and Yamato), and that’s when the contractions became too much and she was ready to give birth. Takeo freaks out, Suna calls the nurse for a wheelchair. The woman next to her is also ready to give birth and the staff at the moment only had one wheelchair, AND EVEN IN THIS MOMENT, TAKEO’S MOTHER IS SELFLESS AND LETS THE OTHER WOMAN HAVE THE WHEELCHAIR BECAUSE IT’S HER FIRST BABY. I LOVE HER. And so Takeo picks up his mother and rushes her to the delivery room, where she gives birth to a healthy and huge baby girl. Takeo’s got a little sister! Thankfully, there were no complications or anything scary, it was all natural and normal, which was a huge relief for me because this whole episode I was freaking the hell out and was hoping nothing bad would happen. But this show is so sweet and pure and innocent, and nothing bad has really happened, even with Suna’s father’s heart condition, so I was hoping the innocence streak would continue. And it did. Thank god. It made me happy, and I loved that we focused on Takeo’s mother because we usually never focus on anime parents unless they’re dying. Let’s hope this sweet family continues to have a wonderful life with their new baby and she grows up healthy.
Apparently 4000 grams is supposed to be about 9 pounds. I…was a pretty big baby too, actually about that size when I was born. Though when looking back at my pictures I don’t think I was as fat as Takeo. Which is funny because I’m actually really tiny. Funny how the human body works.
