This whole episode was all about Gel and Tsubasa. Really this whole season of Insight has been more political than anything. There’s no alien threat that we know of and what we’re focusing on is how people can change the government. This series has always had a focus on the people, whether it’s teaching people that anyone can be a hero, or that the people are important when running a country.
The politicians are skeptical of Gelsadra but it doesn’t seem to faze him that much. I actually thought that Gel would struggle a little bit being the Prime Minister, but he seems to have a lot of support. He gets along well with the people and gets close and personal with them like he’s always been. And just like always, he wants to hear everyone’s thoughts. So the new policies are really decided by the people, not by Gel. For basically everything, like when it comes to taxes and just many other things, it’s decided through smartphone voting. The people decide through voting how things will be, and Gel thinks it’s a more fair and better way as it’s really the people’s wish. When it came to the CROWDS debate, that was also decided with smartphone vote. No matter how hard Rui tried to sway people’s opinion, it came to a dud as a large majority of the people voted against CROWDS. So now there’s a CROWDS prohibition.
So far the country seems to be in high spirits. People are really starting to love Gel, even using his trademark pose in daily life. The people enjoy the smartphone voting, as they even voted on that. Voted whether they liked this type of voting. So far things are going well, as childcare and hospice care is going to finally get some attention, taxes are being lowered, Gel cut his own salary, and he’s made for medical facilities to be made for remote island communities. Even though things are going well for the country so far, I feel like things are going to go downhill soon.
We know Rui is against Gel. Hajime voiced her own views, saying people being united just isn’t “sparkly”. And another person is Yuru-jii. Tsubasa is young, immature, and thinks she knows everything; she thinks she knows more than her own grandfather. To put it shortly…she’s a teenager. Teenagers are dumb and they think this way. She thinks she knows it all and is stuck in this idealistic world. When asked what peace is, what being united is, she gives these simple answers. But Yuru-jii has a point, which is what I think will bring she and Gel down: not all people think the same thing. Maybe not everyone wants to be united, such as Hajime said. So to the people that disagree, what’ll we do with them? Tsubasa just says she’ll try really hard to make them think the way she does, and that’s just going to cause a lot of conflict. Gel and Tsubasa from the beginning have been stuck in this idea of this ideal world where there’s peace and everyone gets along. But it’s really hard to have something like that. If it were really that easy, we would have world peace by now. But it’s not. It’s difficult, and damn near impossible. Because just like Yuru-jii said, people think differently. Things don’t go the way you want them to. And Tsubasa is just going to have to learn this the hard way.
It’s clear that Gel will be the alien threat at some point. That’s for sure.
