This episode was pretty heavy on the plot. While it did take moments to remain light, such as Yuki pulling out various teddy bears in the teachers lounge. This episodes content was rather heavy. starting with the first thirty three seconds of the episode, before the opening. When we are treated to the image of a zombified Megu-nee wandering around and then a close up of a notebook.
One that she was apparently writing in as she changed, as seen by the scribbling. It reminded me of a certain manga chapter in which you get to hear her thoughts as she turns. In the anime, in the notebook among the scribbles are the girls names.
Speaking of Megu-nee, does it break anyone else’s heart to see that whenever Yuki goes to ‘talk’ to her now. She goes to the door where they last saw her before she died? It’s as if, despite her delusions that their sensei is still there. She subconsciously knows that she’s gone as well. It’s interesting, how they have animated less and less of Yuki’s delusions as the audience learns more about the truth of the world.
Makes you wonder, how much of it is she still actually seeing? Like, we’ve seen her have traumatic flashbacks at points. Sort of remembering the truth behind Megu-nee. I’m sure she still and believes a good chunk of the things we’ve seen earlier in the series, I’m just wondering if she still believes all of it.
The episode was a mixed bag of flashbacks to the past. Such as the moment when Rii-san and Megu-nee came up with the name for the School living club. Or as they set up the club room for the first time, taking pictures to remember it by. To talk of the future, what the girls plan to do after ‘graduation’. Such as taking a job, getting married, or going to college. Which in actuality for their situation, completely impossible.
They talk about it though, like normal high school students planning for their futures would.
Though the biggest shocker of the episode, which I actually believe is even more detailed then the one in the manga. Is the Emergency manual the girls find in the teachers lounge. I’ve been saying for a long time that this school is entirely too prepared for a situation like this. Well, we already knew in the manga why. Because they were expecting something along these lines.
Though for some reason, I can’t remember the manga saying anything as specific as a Biological weapon. I feel like that’s new information. I do know however, that this guide book leads to nothing good in the manga. Well, some good…but also some bad. I’ve got my concerns on how this will turn out in the anime.
“Due to the nature of the biological weapon, casualties may exceed estimations. If initial containment efforts fail, The infection may explode into a full-scale pandemic. Complete and total isolation is key. Those in the vicinity of the infected, must also be quarantined. preservation of the human race takes ultimate priority over the lives of individuals. The lives of thousands, millions, rests on your shoulders. A kind and sympathetic heart is no longer a virtue.”
Is a rough copy of what the subtitles of the guide book from the anime says. The manga, reveals very little of what is in the guide book. Since the anime is being written by the mangaka. We can take this to mean that the cause of the virus in both mediums is a biological weapon. The manga’s guide book, only mentions an outbreak. The lines about it being contained and becoming a pandemic are similar.
So aside from the fact that it was found by the three of them. Rather then just Miki-san, seems not to be the only change in the discovery of the guide book.
The episode preview leaves us with light hearted images of the girls in bathing suits and an episode called ‘Holiday’, however, if we are going to be following the manga the same way we have been. There are some dark things lurking in next episode along with the fun. Some very dark things. Please let all of my predictions on how this anime original route is going to go.
Actually, if we could just avoid moving into the next part of the manga content all together. That would be great….

…There. Some nice happy thoughts. I could seriously see Kurumi getting senpai’s name engraved on the shovel at some point.
Anyway, despite the darkness to come (or so I think) I’m looking forward to the “Good morning” scene 😀
