So we’re now continuing in the line of flashbacks in order to establish the characters and I am now fine with this. Despite some small changes they’re actually following the manga quite loyally now and all I can say is this: feels. It’s impossible to not feel for every girl in the show this episode because they’re all dealing with the reality of their horrifyingly terrible lives in new waves. The episode makes sure to highlight two very important things for Miki the newcomer: Megu-Nee is a dead teacher that Yuki is ‘speaking’ to and Yuki is highly delusional with everyone following her whims in order to stay sane.

I can’t blame Miki for her reactions this episode, Yuki seems to genuinely believe in all of her delusions to a degree that it takes Miki seeing an empty destroyed room and the continued conversations with someone who is not there in order to realize: holy shit, this girl is batty. Miki’s biggest problem is she wants to stay inside and deny anything is happening so to be suddenly faced with a dose of heavy delusions from Yuki really shutters her mental fortitude.

Meanwhile the other girls are absolutely torn. Kurumi basically follows along with Yuki but yuri is the one who absolutely doesn’t trust Miki and snaps at her for failing to understand how Yuki is. A lot of the episode is realizing that Megu-Nee is dead and died saving them, something Yuki cannot handle, and Yuri and Miki learning to trust one another. It actually took a lot longer in the manga for this to happen so the pace of that was surprising, but there you have it. Megu-Nee is officially dead and you even get to see how it happened and affected the characters.

The way I feel about this episode is oddly good? I somehow end up with episodes that have the most hope in them. So far last episode was the most depressing episode I’ve really covered and the most inwardly controversial. I’m on the same page as every one of the girls now and feel normally what they do. I really appreciate that they show the real focus of this show: Yuki is the one with the delusions, but everyone else needs them more than she does. Yuki is actually the only one with the mental fortitude to put up a mental barrier for herself so she can survive. I don’t know if this will go the same way as in the manga but so far the story is pretty clear: The girls help Yuki survive physically and she helps them survive mentally. Without her everyone would lose a lot of their coping power, but if you can’t tell from the show already, it’s likely many will.

I’m clenching in fear. It was nice seeing the moe happy feelings in the show but I know it won’t last and that poor . . .everyone. Poor everyone! This moment of happiness brought to you by Yuki’s delusions, let’s all prepare for incoming sadness! For once I’m on the same page as everyone else: don’t you fucking hurt my little moes show. Stop it! I love them.

Yuki is the one with the delusions, but everyone else needs them more than she does.

You’re exagerating. Yuki’s state of mind is helpful to the others somehow, but they certanly don’t need it as much Yuki herself.

Yuki is actually the only one with the mental fortitude to put up a mental barrier for herself so she can survive.

She ended up in that state of mind because she couldn’t cope with the situation around her. That’s not fortitude. That’s weakness. If she manages to ever snap out of it, she might become stronger then. But right now she’s pretty much broken.

yuri is the most fragile girl actually. you can see it in her face as she tries to explain on the roof, her face turns dark, her fist clenches. just because miki suggest that yuki should be snapped out of her delusion for her own good.
