…I’m on a list now, aren’t I?
Impression
Of all the yuri kiss scenes we’ve had, this felt like the most illegal of them all.
If there’s anything that sold 2wei! from a fanservice perspective, it was its… liberal stance towards explicit content. And in an OVA, a studio will focus on what sells. But today, even I felt like a line had been crossed – and bear in mind, this is coming from an established loli fan. It was always a very thin line, but if even I’m saying they’ve gone too far, then that’s when you know it’s really bad. It’s not even that Illya was staring into Kuro’s eyes in a daze and muttering her name between kisses. It’s that they were all naked with very little steam, and Kuro was rubbing her body sensually all over Illya’s. When Miyu then offers herself up in sacrifice, Kuro chides her for being a naughty girl and wonders whether she was actually looking forward to it. So basically, it’s illegal because of Kuro. It’s all Kuro’s fault, Kuro’s existence should be a crime. Why is she so lewd? Why is she so perfect?
She’s even familiar with the stuff they display in sex museums! I’m not even joking!
All that aside, this basically played out exactly like a Herz filler episode, which was both amusing and depressing at the same time. It could literally have aired last Friday, and it wouldn’t have been out of place at all – in fact, I’m surprised they haven’t taken the liberty of writing more anime-original mana transfers, given how popular they presumably are. As with most slice-of-life episodes, Illya does something with her friends or family, coincidentally runs into Rin and Luvia, and sometimes transforms – although Ruby and Sapphire seem like they’re being used for everything other than work as a magical girl these days. I really like the ping pong segment though, where Sella battles it out against Liz to redeem her lack of a chest and Miyu attempts to prevent Illya from losing the remaining tattered scraps of her chastity.
Before I end this by inundating the rest of this post with pictures of Kuro in various states of undress, I’d just like to pose a question. The magical water makes her lose mana at a faster rate than normal. Assume Illya has unlimited mana – well, or at least is able to process unlimited amounts of it with no repercussions. Kuro and Illya start kissing whilst in the water. Will Kuro have a positive net gain of mana on a per-second basis?
…I’m thinking about this too hard.
Conclusion: Kuro is a sex-crime begging to happen.
Oddly enough, this felt to me like it would have been a more appropriate filler for the main series than the amusement park episode.
Kuro is walking sex.
If they had Bazett working as a part-timer in the ryokan, it would have been a perfect filler episode. I guess Rin and Luvia being there to unclog the secret onsen would have been weird given that they should be focusing on the construction, but I’m sure it’s nothing they couldn’t have explained off.
Maybe is just me, but i liked Kaleid for when shit hits that fan (also its TYPE-MOON), the show takes itself seriously and it seems as the seasons go by it does less and less of that… I just sat there going…”WHAT? Why is this a thing!?” through the whole thing. I understand there is some stuff that sells and you add a little of it to keep the fans who are interested in only that watching, but at the same time I miss the good ol action and them actually being magical girls…
The irony is that in the manga, it actually takes itself more and more seriously as time goes by. The second half of 2wei is supposed to be super action-packed, and all this fanservice-y filler is the fault of the adaptation and not the source material. When we get to 3rei this time next year, the nature of the plot leaves zero opportunity for any of this!
I do like the fanservice though. Prisma Illya shamelessly crosses the bounds set by the vast majority of other shows with regards to fanservice, so it’s nice if you like both yuri and loli.
”WHAT? Why is this a thing!?”
I was going “Yes, this is finally a thing! Need more!”
“the nature of the plot leaves zero opportunity for any of this”
They’ll find a way
