Oh man, where to begin with this episode. Well, I’d say a major amount of the focus was around Ruri and Yodogiri. Though Shizuo, Masaomi, and Anri got a decent amount of focus as well. Also, Izaya who has absolutely no focus on him and is in seriously one frame of the episode as he skips by Russia sushi but I proceeded to fan girl all over the place.
So the important question we were left with at the end of the last episode was, who’s going to take care of the cat. Well, first, we must discuss with Celty investigating the Stalker. Since she’s more involved with the Dollars then Shizuo ever was, so she begins looking through the forums for information on Ruri’s stalker. We find out that the stalker is working with Yodogiri, who picked up Ruri years ago.
Knowing that she had actual monster blood in her veins. She heals quickly, she’s strong, and that’s a lot of what helped her get along as Hollywood. There used to be secret meetings in which he would show her regenerative ability off to people.
Ruri’s stalker is creepy, like I thought he was creepy when he was licking her photo last week. However, one look at his room shows me that he is even creepier then I could imagine. On top of that, his reaction to cutting off her song when picking up his phone. Well, the dialogue between him and Yodogiri is too creepy for me to repeat, but it’s highly disturbing in all sorts of ways.
So, what is the best way to catch a stalker you ask? Well, when your best friend was a stalker. You can always call her up and ask her about it. So that’s what they do, they call up Seiji and Mika. Asking about things like lock picking, how easy it would be to pick through the locks on their door. She demonstrates that it’s actually rather easy…
WHY IS SHE SO CREEPY? Anri admires her too? So weird.
An interesting scene in the episode is the one between Mikado and Kadota, though I wouldn’t call them focus characters for this episode. Their talk about Mikado’s ideals for the Dollars and the kind of freedoms being a member of the dollars allow is a very interesting one. I also am highly amused to hear Mikado call Kadota a model dollar, while he does adhere to all the ideals and ideas that Mikado had for the organization from the beginning. Something about the happy, detatched way that Mikado is talking in this season. It’s vaguely unsettling.
So on the note of covering everyone who was important this episode. We cut to Masaomi who has returned to Ikebukuro with the intent to make amends for the things that he’s done. Of course, who should he meet first but the most dangerous person he could of wronged in the first season, Shizuo. So he goes over to apologize, Shizuo, having heard about Masaomi from Celty and no longer having an issue with the Yellow Scarfs forgives him. Of course, since it looks like Masaomi won’t be happy without some closure, he flicks him on the head.
Which if done by anyone but Shizuo, wouldn’t hurt at all. It is Shizuo though, so it does.
The last important part of the episode takes place at Shinra’s house, in which his doorbell rings and someone says they’re delivering a package. This guy, breaks in and begins beating the hell out of Shinra. I think it’s the stalker, but i’m not entirely sure. All I know for sure is, I hope Celty gets home and finds this and kills this guy. How DARE anyone do something like this to Shinra.
I don’t care what you were hired to do, I don’t care what you think you’re up to. I feel like this has to do with that favor that Yodogiri called in on the stalker earlier in the episode and it doesn’t excuse hurting a hair on Shinra’s body! There are so few people in this series I’m alright with anyone hurting and Shinra is not one of them. Underground doctor or not, he’s too sweet for this.
This was a good episode, and it confirmed for me even more that I hate Yodogiri Jinnai. Not just for stabbing Izaya, but for what he’s done to Ruri and what i believe he had ordered onto Shinra. He makes me all kinds of sick. The final note of this episode are the two references I noticed, one in the light novels that Erika and Walker are reading. Sword Art Online for Erika and I’m not sure what Walker is reading.
Second off, in the big TV when Masaomi is walking down the street, we see Baccano running. In particular, a scene with Issac and Miria, who we know are still alive and members of the Dollars from their appearances in the first season. I’m sure it’s just a reference and there is nothing more to infer from that, but it’s just interesting to think about them becoming actors or something in the new age.
