Dealing with loss isn’t easy, I’m not sure how he was saved. If it was luck, or Takajo running in with his power to save Yu but Yu is alive and Ayumi isn’t. Needless to say, Yu doesn’t handle it well. He becomes a shut in, no, worse then that. He becomes a paranoid shut in. Convinced that they will come after him and lock him up in a facility like Tomori’s brother. He stops trusting anyone, the other student council members. The girl from episode one that he used his powers to date. Nobody and in the end, he runs away from the condo.

All he eats is junk food, all he does is hide and play this one violent video game. He’s snapping slowly, forget the slowly part. He’s snapping and he’s snapping fast. It’s actually a little scary. We’ve known from episode one that he has some sociopath tendencies but they shine through this episode in particular. You can see it first in his flee from his home, he has no problem using his powers on the two men who come to his door.

He used his powers to beat up thugs and gangs all over the city, using his powers to take over and beat down all these people. I have to question why Tomori didn’t stop him sooner, you know, like at the part where he almost pokes the guys eye out. She was seriously with him the entire episode. There was at least five times i would of stepped in before she actually stepped in.
You know, when he was about to snort Cocaine.

She tells him that if he crosses that line that he will no longer be human. He doesn’t want to go back with her but she says if he comes along and eats one bite of the meal she’s going to make him. They’ll never have to see each other again, so he goes with her and falls asleep while she’s cooking. She presents him with a rice omelet for him. With the special ingredient of  pizza sauce.
It’s sweet and it tastes horrid, but he cries and remembers all the things his sister did for him. She persuades Yu into coming back to the student council and straightening out his life again.

This episode is downright unsettling. The fear, the sadness, the paranoia, the insanity that you see welling up in him. The bags under his eyes, the way they just animated Yu throughout the episode. I thought the series couldn’t up the stakes after last episode. I could not even believe it when he started to take the cocaine. I’m glad that Tomori stopped him.
I’m really looking forward to where the story is going from here and see how the stakes can get any higher.

It might only be my opinion but i dont really think it would have worked if she had try to stop him earlier. Take for example the moment the girl from ep.1 came in to try and help him.. did it work? totally no (though it really isnt the best idea to come in after weeks and say you suck and are mentally ill.. good job little girl..)
The only thing that would have happened if she had stopped him ealier was that he might get more paranoid and thinks he still got this or might go completely out of control. Though there still comes a question into my mind: how comes nobody noticed a little girl (tomori) standing around while several fights happen and how did she survive days and weeks in his apartment without food?

Last thing to say: It wouldnt be “Key” if there wasnt at least 1 feels train passing by with a stop at depressed-ruined-life station

I am super glad that the dark side of Yuu’s character from episode 1 (picking fights, peeking at boobs) is back with a huge vengeance. Everyone copes with tragedy differently, some better than others, and this adds much depth to what would otherwise have been a generic bland main character. I have enough trust in Jun Maeda’s writing that he’s not going to go back to the student council, business as usual.

I just hope that in the next episode we take another look at that yandere girl that tried to kill Ayumi. The only reason why Ayumi was killed was because she was running away from NOT being killed by that girl. The girl must know that she has a fault in Ayumi’s death. Oh why couldn’t she just stay home. :'(

It really was one of the darker episodes, yeah.

On another note, glad to see a Angel Beats cameo. It may have been an emotion episode, but that still got a smile out of me.
