See, I really like having at least one series a season that’s one of these cute 1-5 minute shorts. They’re relaxing, the reviews aren’t as crazy long, and you get to see how someone can make something interesting in about 2 minutes. So what was this episode about? Well you read the title so…yeah that’s about it. But I guess I could try to elaborate more.
So after our opening theme song, (Yes, this series has an opening theme song. which runs for 30 seconds. Meaning that the opening is 1/4 the length of the show) the episode starts up and our main character Wakako decides to sit down and order some deep fried chicken. While she is waiting for it she contemplates how good it is yet how incredibly bad it is for you.
She receives it and begins to eat it and talks to herself about all the different ways to prepare it. She then proceeds to continually talk about how bad it is for you, and how often she eats it, even having a vision that someone at work either will, or has called her fatter before because of it. She then thinks to herself, “meh” and keeps eating it. And that’s where the episode ends.
Yep, really that’s…that’s about it.
While last episode had a short plot about a guy hitting on her, this one had her being worried about getting fat off of deep fried chicken.
So yeah…there’s not a whole lot to say about this episode. I mean, she’s a little cuter in this episode, she’s not being a jerk to anyone and she’s really just in her element, which is nice.
It just makes me wonder about this “getting fat” thing in Japanese culture. I mean look
Seriously, I see this stuff in anime and i’m like…”dude. if that’s gaining weight…America’s fucked.”
There wasn’t a lot of substance here, but for what it was, it was cute.
A lot of what this episode did was made me feel bad for wanting to eat deep fried chicken. It looks delicious, but you get a free guilt trip for the effort.
For the length that these episodes are, even for lack of a plot, it doesn’t overstay its welcome and leaves you wanting more. So I suppose that’s always good.

Damn it Wakako…..now I want some deep fried chicken.
Japan does have a lower Body Mass Index compared to western countries, so what’s considered plump there really is different- this is because the Japanese population suffers from high cases of weight-related illnesses, so their BMI is adjusted accordingly. But I’m sure anime exaggerates a little. (I only know this because I’m heading there in August and wondered where I fell lol)
As for the anime, I’m really liking it so far. Not in a ‘THIS IS AWESOME’ kinda way of course, but it’s a nice show to just relax and watch for a minute.
