“Flatty-san isn’t moving.”
Impression
A wild REN-CHON appeared!
What will KOMA-CHAN do?
RUN
Can’t escape!
KOMA-CHAN whited out!
I think I would have been content with watching Ren-chon run around singing while striking a spade onto a bucket – a terrified Koma-chan was like the icing on the cake. If only Hotarun was there to see it. I was also wondering how on earth she managed to see through the plate, until I remembered she cut holes in it before she left! Too bad the rain ended up making the ink run – Nee-nee should really invest in some permanent, non-water soluble marker pens.
At first, I was unsure as to what they were aiming for with the second half – and then it quickly got dark, and all the pieces fit together. We went from watching Ren-chon play the school song on her recorder and a (sadly very short) trip to see Candy Store to suddenly learning that Flatty-san had died. All of them. And she’d just said the day before that she wanted to take care of them forever. Up until then, it was just cute that she was so invested – but then her excitement in that scene was cashed in by killing them all off ;_; You could feel her dismay, even though she didn’t say much – she was oddly mature about it all (as she usually is) but I doubt it meant she was any less sad over it. I found it a really unusual segment to have, especially as it seemed so real – it’s always hard for kids when they go through the death of a pet for the first time, and Renge herself ended up saying she didn’t want to catch more tadpole shrimp just to see them die again in a few days. Kind of reminded me of the time when her friend had to leave last season.
Nattsun was such a good girl, though. THANK YOU NATTSUN ;_;
