What a cute episode this week! The fact Minami is very similar to Towa when it comes to lacking some youthful experience of her own made their newly forged bond even stronger. It was extremely valuable for Minami to be new to this experience as well because it allowed Towa to have someone to relate to, even more so by how Towa and Minami share similar lifestyle. Neither didn’t have to worry about being the odd one out, or not really knowing what to do. Or rather, more accurately Minami had a huge list of things she always wanted to do since it was her first time going to a friend’s house to sleep over. The three suit cases she brought with her had a purpose. The first one was to gift Haruka’s family with top tier melons, the second was an extra supply of fireworks, and the third one…. that remains a mystery, but my guess is that she stuffed pillows inside it to create a pillow fight. Yeah it may seem out of character, but Minami showed us how she can loosen up and have fun.
Towa is able to open up and learn a bit more this week thanks to Minami explaining how she understands her concerns. Minami doesn’t like to trouble people, so she used to keep it to herself. Now since she made friends, she has the opportunity to open up and depend on them. This is the key factor Towa was able to learn for herself today, which is super important as she continues to undergo the healing process.
And you know what, They are handling her recovery exceptionally well! I am so pleased with the pacing, the themes in which they choose to use in these critical episodes (which could have easily been turned into pointless fillers) are being delivered organically. This is important because many of us wanted to have a fulfilling and in depth recovery process for Towa, but now we are a couple episodes since she has been saved, and her character is undergoing a natural process of a withered flower growing anew. She is learning step by step of how to live again, how to love herself, how it is okay to depend on others, opening up and having someone listen to her fears. These are all important qualities and experience for Towa to gain, so major props to the writing team for their smart set ups to impact her growth.
Last but not least, I am sure many who were looking forward to Shut and Towa reuniting were kind of disappointed. It depends on how you had set up your expectations. I tried to keep mine low – moderate, but I didn’t realize it was more like moderate- high expectations, I couldn’t help myself. There is hope though! Despite the fact Shut vows to eliminate Towa who eh still identifies as Twilight, he was charmed by her beauty as Cure Scarlet (which was hilarious and creates hope because that allows us to see he is struggling to suppress his inner Twilight/Towa fanboy.).
Next week… QUICK, SOMEONE STOP ME FROM COMING UP WITH THE HEADCANONS OF SHUT ENDING UP HELPING OUT TAKING CARE OF TOWA since Pafu and Aroma are left to be the only ones available to take care of Towa who is facing a fever (IT IS TOTALLY NOT GONNA HAPPEN BUT STUPID HEADCANONS). But on that note, I do hope they bring up Miss Shamour because you would think she would be the one to step in if necessary outside of her duties as a mentor.
PS: Apologizes for not replying to any of the comments for last week’s episode! I was super busy!
So true, Eva. I agree with your view about the relationship between Minami and Towa. This episode is really good indeed, and so far so good for Towa’s new experiences. Glad to see that Minami really is a very good person to help Towa very much in this episode, especially on things they both fear.
Kinda reminds me of the episode 33 of Fresh Pretty Cure (SPOILER ALERT! DON’T READ THIS PART IF YOU DON’T WANT TO!), when Miki was too shy and “perfect” to admit or even reveal her fear or disgust of octopus. Eventually, she tells the truth to Setsuna (when she didn’t want to leave her be, but stay with her. Plus, helping her). 🙂
I had fun with this episode as well, and the part of “nagashi soumen” reminded me of one Heartcatch Precure episode, and yet, when I checked out, it’s from ep 25 too (hence another link, memory or an honor of the Pretty Cure franchise)!! Vacations are so cool, especially when they go really well and enjoyable!! 😀
Now about Shut, I don’t know what to say, but I knew that he would get soft by meeting Cure Scarlet for the first time. Still, I feel kinda bad for him that he’s being ordered as if he’s weaker or a servant of Lock and he’s trying to have something good since Twilight is gone. Well, the next episodes will show his fate and speaking of which, I hope the next episode is another great one. Can’t wait but I must wait to see what will the fairies do to aid the sick princess and what Sht will do as well!!
And Pafu’s angry expression is cute to be honest. XD Hope she gets pumped up and stronger than before! Go Pafu!! 😀
I know, I want Shut to take care of Towa as well! The fact that he believes Scarlet is beautiful and then quickly deny it like a little boy with a crush. It was just the little hope that we need! It looks like these episodes coming up, might be somewhat of a reflection for him as you notice he’s now in the previews of the episodes. Even when it was a Shut’s turn episode, he didn’t really show up in the previews that much unless it majorly involve him. Like the episode where Shut attacks the precure by himself without Twilight’s help. Poor Shut, though. As Marcos said, he seems to be treated like a lowly servant, something that he really hated. The poor guy just can’t get a break. He came out to the area, not to follow the precure but to actually clear his mind. I guess great minds think a like when it comes to summer vacation. Love the idea of him sleeping in the boat.
It was hilarious to see Shut scare the heck out of Aroma and Pafu in the preview! He was like “Rawr!” at them! XD It’d be cute for Shut to just show sympathy towards Towa. Like he sees Towa sick and decides to back off at least, having his monster cause trouble when the cures arrive on time. I know him taking care of her isn’t gonna happen but just him backing off when she’s real sick would be just as cute and be a great progress as well. I have MMD (Miku Miku Dance program) with both Cure Scarlet (which just came out) and Shut models and I have all sorts of cute ideas for them including dancing in a ball room and Cure Scarlet nursing Shut back to health after being abandon by Dyspear and Lock! X3 Ah, the cute possibilities!
How cool and how cute possiblities indeed, Yoru Harmoni. 🙂
I’m anxious to see how Shut will react or act in that coming episode. Hope he gets softer for Towa/Scarlet even more afterwards. Glad to see that you agree of what I saw of how Shut seemed to be treated by Lock.
It’s nice to see Minamin tasting her first summer experience with her company, and yet so as for Towachi. Now about the third suitcase remained a mystery, but for some reason that I think that it’s just a surprise for now. The 1920s/pre-World War II area in the town reminds me of some good old shows and movies that have such setting especially the post box; and Haru-Haru’s house was just wow, may be old school but it encouraged me also to try and taste the difference on its roots and the stuff that it have during those times.
Anyways, of the mid-season Cures I’ve ever encountered, Towachi/Scarlet has some drastically changes much in terms of the recovering process compare to Set-chan/Passion, Yuri/Moonlight, Ellen/Beat, Ako/Muse, Aguri/Ace and Iona/Fortune (on my point). Nevertheless, they’re all undergo some changes indeed in their own ways. In case if you ain’t noticed that this episode was done by Francis Kaneda and Alice Nario from Toei Animation Philippines, who’re take charge in the anime’s sequences. Mr. Haruno was again in tears to see his blooming daughter again (and Haru-Haru has granny fans? O.o). While Momoka-chan’s actual voice got slightly improved this time than her first appearance in episode 14 of the season. The part when the 5 gals were taking charge of the shop looked amazing, so as the nagashi soumen and the watermelon seed spitting parts.
