Well, there is a lot of anime only content going on in this episode and it’s really nice. We begin the episode with Megu-nee writing in a journal that she says very well may be her will. That part is in the manga, however, the following flashback to the day that the zombie outbreak began is totally new. We get a good view in how the girls and Megu-nee came together.

Yuki was staying to re-take a test, Kurumi was at track and Rii-san was up watering the tomatoes on the roof for the gardening club. Which nobody else showed up for that day mysteriously. It’s like the world was ending or something…oh, wait.
The day is fairly normal, Megu-nee is fretting over the fact that her mother told her that she wouldn’t be a good teacher. Wow, mother of the year right there. That kind of thing kills confidence so badly and can have longer lasting effects then anyone might think. Not that in the event of zombie apocalypse you have much time to fret over if you’re a good teacher or not.

Yuki is teased, Kurumi talks to Megu-nee about boys. I think though, the really unsettling thing is even while you see all of these normal school activities happening you know things are happening. Early on in the episode, you see some zombies on the TV and while they aren’t really addressed you know that they’re there and things are happening.

Now, the part that really got me. Well, I think the part that always gets me in any zombie related media is the call from one of the other teachers. Asking where she is, if she’s safe. Saying something about the facility room before chaos ensues in there and the other teacher is presumably dead. I don’t know why, but in almost ever zombie media there is a call or a video like that. Where you see or hear someones last moments as they call a main character and it always sets me on edge.

I also really enjoy seeing how they tied this episode in with last one, showing Kurumi bring her senpai up to the roof with the rest of them. Then having him turn and her having to kill him in front of them. Watching Yuki run over and cry. I don’t know if watching Yuki experience everything first hand, watching her friend kill her crush. Watching them all struggle to survive makes her later delusions better or worse.
I’d be fairly traumatized after seeing a girl kill someone with a shovel too, even if that someone had turned into a flesh eating monster.

The later part of the episode after the flashback returns to semi-manga canon material with them camping out due to a lack of electricity. They set up a tent and talk, and hide from Megu-nee.
The elephant in the room pertaining to Megu-nee is made more and more obvious and even though It hasn’t been said outright. It’s sort of like a public secret, nobody is saying it but everyone knows. I don’t want to say it because saying it makes it real, but you all know what I’m talking about. In the end, I guess the fact that they love her so much means that she’s a good teacher. Even if she gives too much homework.

It looks like next episode is going to have flashbacks for Miki to the mall that they mentioned in the last episode. I wonder how much they’ll really get into showing her time surviving there. It’ll be interesting to see none the less, I’ve really liked the small changes that have added on to the manga content. At the same time though, the series functions on it’s own so that reading the manga is not a necessity.

maybe its just me but i kinda dont like the opening theme which feels really out of place for me even if they try to live a normal school life (btw op movie changed after showing what kind of show it really is)

I think the opening will continue to change as we find out more and more, if you read the lyrics too it as well. It’s them asking for help. It’s a fake out opening honestly, which sort of fits with the trolly nature of the content. It’s meant to look and sound happy while covering up darker themes. Kind of like Madoka’s opening is super upbeat but if you read the lyrics the song is actually telling you what to expect.
It’s a lot harder for english people listening to the Japanese to really get the joke, I had to have it explained to me. xD but I don’t blame you for not liking it, it is very out of place even knowing all of that.

of course i know of the stuff with the lyrics but it doesnt give the horror vibe. i would have liked it more if they put in disturbing sound parts showing how twisted everything really is instead of the cheery voice and happy-go-lucky music :’D
btw. what do you think of the recent manga chapter.. the doll or a corpse?

I hear part of this episode is taken from some side chapters I did not know existed. They say one of them is Sakura sensei’s full diary and there are more including a full version of a certain booklet that Miki discovered in the manga and it adds some interesting information – hope we’ll see more of that in the anime.
Anyway, all the Sensei in this episode – they really want to make things harder for us, don’t they… :((
