And at last Durarara is back from it’s break, and where do we pick up? With my wicked little baby being hospitalized after being stabbed at the end of the last cour. He’s in the hospital and he’s bored, he’s also interested in who’s going to come too kill him. Is it going to be Shizuo? Is it going to be Masaomi?  There is no shortage of people who want him dead in the area. With his stabbing making the news and his name being mentioned, of course someone is going to try their hands at ending his life.
Just who is it that comes to kill him? Well, let’s get to that in the same order that the episode got to it. At the ending.

Along the way we have to see the world on a holiday. The real question is, what does the abnormal person do on their day off. You take a vacation to get away from your normal everyday life, but what do you do when your day is nothing but abnormalities? Well you could go on a date with your headless girlfriend and have her wear lolita costumes.
You could go shopping with your family.

For a Durarara episode, this was generally character focused around Izaya and as an Izaya fangirl. I could of not been more pleased. I laughed a lot during this episode, first in the part where Izaya gets hung up on by Shinra. Then he makes a BIG show of stating Shira’s illegal dealing LOUDLY in front of the two cops that were there checking up on Izaya’s stabbing.
They call Shinra back after that, wow, um, never hang up the phone on Izaya. He gets revenge. You’d think that Shinra would know this after being friends with him for so long.

Then the part of the episode that we’ve been waiting for from the beginning, who was coming to kill Izaya and it’s….nobody we know. Who is this? Even Izaya doesn’t seem to know, until he remembers, one of the girls he met with during the suicide pacts. Oh wait, I recognize this girl and this flashback, this is in the first chapter of the manga.
I’ve read this chapter two or three times during my readings of the manga and always thought it was rather odd how it started off differently then the anime. So this is that girl, from that time. Who swore revenge on him, and came for it one year later.

How does Izaya react to this? About the way you would expect him to react to this, laughter. thinking that she’s wonderful for exceeding his expectations for her. Filled with joy that she’s reminded him of why he started observing humanity in the first place! Also, he overpowers her while being hooked to an IV and suffering from pain from a stab wound.
THIS MAN IS CRAZY AND I LOVE HIM. There is no doubt in my mind when I say that Izaya is insane, but his outlook on humanity and how he views them and how they view him is just so interesting. As he vanishes from the hospital room, I can only wonder what plans he has…

Also, Aoba. Hello there, what are you doing at Shinra’s house. Oh, you want to become friends with him and Celty? Yeah, I don’t trust you as far as I can throw you. I’m mad at you what you did to Mikado, even if he stabbed you in the hand in response.

One final interesting part of the episode is Shinra, talking to Namine’s father. The head of Yagiri pharmaceutical, and warning him about the very person that stabbed Izaya. I don’t know who you are Yodogiri Jinrai but I will find you, and I will get revenge…or so I wish I could say, but i’m sure you’ll get yours in the long run!

It almost feels like we never paused, it was a rush right back into familiar territory. Also, it’s been so long that I can’t tell if they changed the opening and ending or if I only just noticed how cool the music for both of these are. I may need to investigate this further, well as this is a first impression…technically, I have to sneak in this part.
