Well it came down between Charlotte and Ronpo Kitan on which to cover and I settled on Charlotte in the end and I’m kind of glad I did. Episode two really showed what this series is made of and what kind of ride we should expect. Which is one that is not happy, filled with nothing but despair. Well, what else did I expect from P.A. Works right?

So last week I said that we didn’t really get enough of Tomori to get a feel for her. Well that problem was solved in this episode as we get to know who she is, why she is the way she is, and why she’s so dedicated to the student council. Which is because of her brother, the first person to have powers. When she was younger, she was all set to get into a nice school and get on her way to becoming a doctor.

Her brother was a guitar player that was trying to get signed with a big company so he could take some of the money burden off his mother who was raising them both by herself. He used his power at a live performance and in come the scientist to try to experiment on and find a way to use his power.

Which leaves him as a totally broken shell of a man that can’t even recognize his own sister. Because, happiness, what is that? So when you look back on all of her drastic measures in recruits Yu and stopping the guy in this episode from abusing his powers it makes sense. Because if they don’t get to them first, and the police or someone else does their lives will be over. Just like her brother.

She leaves Yu with this, the reason she was also locked up in the same place that her brother was, was that the powers seem to be genetic. If an older sibling has them, there’s a good chance that the younger one does too.

Which leaves him worrying about his own little sister, what would happen if something happened to him? When he was abusing his own powers, if he’d been caught by anyone but the student council of their new school. What would of happened to her? Also, is Japanese pizza sauce that sweet? I would go crazy in this house hold, I can’t stand tomatoes.

Yu looks like he might go crazy if his sister doesn’t learn to cook with anything else as well. I mean, she’s a sweet girl but you can’t go on protecting her and saying that the food is good forever Yu. If you do, when she does find out it’s going to be worse for her in the long run.
We didn’t get to meet any new characters this episode and there are certainly more student council members in the opening. So i’m looking forward to seeing them and what kind of powers that they have. The powers in this series are just…amazing in their own rights. Strange and generally useless unless you figure out the right way to use them but amazing.

Let’s see how much more heart break the next episodes bring.
