Re-Kan! Episode 10: We’ve Entered Our Second Year

Nothing noteworthy really happened in this episode. We didn’t get introduced to any new ghost, except Hanako-san which only made an appearance for a couple minutes. So the group of friends are now in their second year, and since Amami is such a sweet and helpful girl, she wants to do all she can to make the first years feel right at home in their new school. So she goes around the school and helps out the first years, showing them around, fixing their hair, etc. The problem is, they don’t know about Amami or about the ghosts, and everywhere they go the ghosts follow and scare the first years away. This keeps happening so much that now the first years are just too afraid to be around Amami and end up running away from her. The friends decide to help Amami by changing her image and have her try to act like the other girls. Once she decides on being Inoue, she goes out but it doesn’t work. They try to change the ghosts’ images too, but that doesn’t matter because no one else can see them. So that’s a bust.

To cheer her up, Ogawa takes Amami to the art room and they make plushies. Amami makes an adorable teddy bear, which is possessed by roll-call samurai, which is really funny. And Ogawa makes that weird zombie thing, and we finally find out why she likes those things. Her dad used to go to their school and she has a manga from the manga club that has a story with that same zombie. Some silly story about the zombie being immortal, having a lover, and finding the bride of light.

When they leave school, the zombie doll comes to life and pleads to go the bridge of light and Ogawa starts running off with it, completely enamored with it. And the others give chase to her, wondering if she’s going to end up getting spirited away. The other ghosts try to help, the umbrella ghost making a rainbow which was the bridge of light, then the zombie doll spirit passed on. But it was actually the perverted cat the whole time, who is also in the manga. Which makes me wonder just who the pervert cat is. The part that had me laughing the most was teddy bear roll-call samurai with a manic look in his eyes with a stuffed sword, dragging himself to help Ogawa. Definitely not like a fairy tale, Yamada.

And so all is well, and some of the first year girls from before warm up to Amami. They come by the class to take pictures with her since she’s the only person they know where they could get spirit photos. So I guess she’s a celebrity to the new students. This episode was a little bit of a bore and there’s really not much to say about it. There were a couple laughs here and there, especially when Amami was pulling off the tsundere side of Inoue pretty well. She looked really cute in the pigtails.
