Welp it’s done it, Plastic Memories has made me smile and cry at the same time. I knew I wasn’t entirely ready for this episode when it started with Isla crying and running to Tsukasa. Scared, having to confirm that he was still there. However, as much as I knew I wasn’t emotionally ready for the episode, nothing could of prepared me for the mixture of warm happiness and sadness pouring through me at the same time.
After the credits, we see everyone in the office giving Tsukasa things to take Isla out. As her retrieval time is coming, the people in the office want them to go out and make as many memories as possible. The things include a pair of movie tickets, discount tickets to dinner, guides to a bunch of hotel resorts, time in Yasu’s car and 50% off coffee….
So with that kind of push, they of course take the day off and go out to the movie. It’s a romance, in which Isla learns about having someone lay their head on your lap. So they do this. She talks about her fear of dark places, how she fears Tsukasa is going to vanish on her. They also discuss wanting to continue living normally. Rather then taking special time off work like everyone seems to want them too.
So they return to work, but they don’t have a lot to do. Their last retrieval as a pair is for Sarah, the daughter of the mafia boss we’ve seen in the last few episodes. So instead of doing work, she’s teaching him about herbs and making tea. Showing him how to grow them and brew them, so he can take care of them when she’s gone. As Tsukasa goes to Kazuki to get more work for them to do. Kazuki gives him the consent forum to retrieve Isla to sign. So that night, Tsukasa brings it over to Isla and shows it to her. Saying he’d been asked to sign it, she tells him too and he, he breaks down.
Saying that sometimes, he wonders if they could just run somewhere far away.
Hey series, can you not you know, kill me inside? What do you mean that’s your job!? Isla holds him and he does end up signing the forum. The next day the go out to get Sarah, it happens without incident and as always Isla whispers something to them just as they’re being shut down. Near the end of the episode, Tsukasa asks her what she’s been saying all these times and she answers with.
“I hope one day, you’ll be reunited with the person you cherish.”, and Sarah said to Isla “You too”, OMG, I can’t handle these feelings. So, after they get Sarah and bring her back. The office throws a party for them, like a wrap up party.
They drink and sing and eat pizza, it’s a happy event. This is the part of the episode that made me smile and cry at the same time. Watching Isla have fun with all the people she’s come to cherish.
I think it’s great that rather then just spend her time with Tsukasa in the end, Isla chose to spend it with all of the important people to her. Everyone she’s worked with all this time, the people that make up her all important memories.
Second to last episode, still no kiss. I’m starting to dread that my prediction is going to be the case. I’m not ready for these feelings. Well, next week is the last episode and Isla’s time is at hand, how will this show end. How much will the last episode make me cry? Will this be the last episode of Death Parade where I do nothing but cry for thirty minutes all over again? Probably, but we’ll find out…

The possibilities are as numerous as the tears that have been shed throughout this series. Anything… From Isla’s passing containing even the TINIEST hint on how to save the Giftia, which would be great since there’s still Zack, Sherry and Constance left… To Isla asking Michiru to watch over Tsukasa, who years later becomes the godmother of Tsukasa’s own Giftia child or even becomes married to him, naming their child after Isla… Even a hope for Isla to come back someday in addition to extending Giftia lifespans.
