Ore Monogatari!! Episode 11: My Ocean

Oh my god I got the beach episode. It doesn’t feel like a real anime unless it has a beach episode right? It’s usually a perfect moment for fanservice but this show is too sweet and great to resort to that. But it was still a big moment for our main couple, even THOUGH NOTHING HAPPENED. GRRRRR. We didn’t have to wait until the end for a confession, but we’re probably going to have to wait until the end for one stupid kiss! Honestly!

So it’s summer time. Yamato calls Takeo to invite him and his friends to hang out with her and her friends at the beach. He agrees. Takeo is a very kind, very much like a gentleman. He blows a casket when he hears his friends talking about seeing the girls in swimsuits. To Takeo, going to the beach is to swim, to catch crabs, to smash watermelons, and other fun stuff, NOT to gawk at girls in their swimsuits like gross perverts. Takeo is my kind of man, I’d marry him. *sigh* So, obviously he’s very excited for this, so he takes precaution and packs everything in advance. He even takes some things in case they get stranded. He probably thought of that after his mountain adventure with Yamato. Yamato calls him and says that there was a forecast for a typhoon, but Suna says not to worry because good weather follows Takeo. At this point I thought the show would be predictable and bring the bad weather to mess up their beach trip, but lo and behold good weather really does follow Takeo because it was sunny and great. I’m telling you that Takeo is not human.

Before the trip, Yamato and her friends went to buy swimsuits. Yamato is…interesting. She’s trying really hard to impress Takeo, because she really wants to make his heart skip a beat, since he does that to her. And so she’s picking really sexy and strange swimsuits.

Of course her friends think those don’t fit her. So they help Yamato out by picking better swimsuits that would really suit her while making sure they would really surprise Takeo.

They all make it to the beach. They do regular beach things like swimming, they sort of play the watermelon game, and they play beach volleyball where basically Takeo killed everyone. Just like them being lost in the mountains, this whole episode consisted of Yamato blushing like crazy and admiring Takeo with her flailing and going “Kyaaaa!”. She tries really hard to make his heart skip a beat, but instead it’s him making her do that. But she unknowingly makes his heart skip a beat, when she showed up in her swimsuit with her jacket on, and then after she actually took off her jacket. To which Suna entered his mind through telepathy and calmed his hormone-filled head. These two have a close connection.

Yamato is trying really hard. She’s trying so hard to impress Takeo and make his heart go doki doki and stuff but she’s failing. She’s just too enamored with him and really I don’t blame her. A great body and a gentleman?

She runs off to some rocks where she wanted to go with him, but she’s upset because she’s a little airheaded. She writes their names into a sand with a heart and Takeo was sweet to cover it from the waves. Yamato then relaxes and they watch the sunset tomorrow like Takeo had actually wanted to do. Takeo thinks Yamato looks extra beautiful today and he turns to her and says I love you. She says it back. They’re alone. Right in front of the sunset. The mood is absolutely perfect. Takeo slowly leans in towards her face. It’s almost…almost…NO OF COURSE NOT. Stupid Afro and Plain guy interrupts about them doing fireworks, and Takeo is left there mid-pucker. Fucking fantastic. I should have seen them coming but I really wanted them to kiss.

So they go and play with the fireworks and Yamato and the girls say they should invite the boys to go see fireworks. Not wanting to give up, Yamato plans on wearing a yukata to make Takeo’s heart skip a beat. And that’s all. It was a sweet and fun episode. These two are pretty dense, and they don’t need to try so hard for each other. Honestly they make each others’ hearts skip a beat just by being next to each other. But they’re sweet. And I’m glad Yamato’s friends and Takeo’s friends get along so well. Maybe not Afro but still. Of course I was anticipating a kiss when they were watching the sunset together. Oh please don’t leave the kiss until the last episode. That’s probably worse than waiting for a confession in the last episode. Please…I can’t take this…
