Yeah, Takeo kinda is dense but I don’t blame him. He hasn’t had much experience with girls, which isn’t his fault. But now there seems to be some sort of problem with Yamato, that might jeopardize their relationship. We actually don’t know too much about Yamato other than the fact that she can bake, she’s Takeo’s girlfriend, she’s nice, and adorable. Though there may be a side to her we don’t totally know about.
We get the usual. People stare at Takeo and Yamato in disbelief, one of Takeo’s friends records a video of an incident at the train station, no one believes he and Yamato are a thing, Takeo is a chivalrous sweetie no one appreciates. And he meets with Yamato at the park for some sweets, with Suna tagging along. There’s one hint of their relationship nearing some problems. It turns dark at the park and Suna goes home, leaving Takeo and Yamato to walk in the park by themselves. They’re alone, they have the stars and moon, and then Takeo blurts out that he’ll never touch a single hair on Yamato’s head. Earlier in the day, Takeo had to change into Suna’s gym clothes because his clothes were wet from saving a drowning child. He takes off his shirt, Yamato stares at his muscles (….hot damn) and blushes. Later, Takeo touches Yamato’s hair to get rid of a bug, though it looked like he might have kissed her. She blushes again. He walks her home, they say goodnight, but as Takeo walks away Yamato peers out from her window with a serious expression. I’ll speak on that later.
We get introduced to a new character this episode! Suna’s beautiful older sister, Ai. Who, hilariously, actually has feelings for Takeo and is devastated when learning he has a girlfriend. Suna didn’t even know his sister had a crush on him either. And so she’s asking him if he’s not being duped, if he’s happy, and all that. Suna says yes, but she wants to meet Yamato anyway. She wants to see for herself who Yamato is, and the next day, she meets up with Takeo, Suna, and Yamato in the park.
And she wastes no time on Yamato. From the start, she asks Yamato what she likes best about Takeo. She stutters, and says it’s really hard to explain what, but just that she really likes him. Ai takes note of that, but doesn’t press on. They take a seat, Yamato sharing her pretty cookies she baked. Takeo boasts to Ai how great a baker Yamato is. That she’s a girly girl, and a very good person. Which Yamato denies, saying she’s not a good person at all. Her expression changes when Takeo reassures she’s a great person, and Ai is the only one to notice, but she doesn’t mention it. They eat the cookies, but turns out that Yamato accidentally used salt instead of sugar in her cookies. A common mistake, but she’s upset anyway. But Takeo eats them all instead, which makes her happy. It’s obvious to see that Takeo really likes Yamato, but Ai asks the same: what does he like most about her? He likes everything about her really, but what he answers “She’s pure-hearted.” And again, Yamato’s expression turns somber. It turns dark, and the two leave while Ai chats with Suna, saying that Yamato is keeping a secret from Takeo.
Now, I’ve been trying to figure out just what it is. There hasn’t been any clues, so I guess it’s useless for me to wonder. Ai thinks that Yamato could possibly be two-timing him, but I don’t think so. It must be something else. Twice in this episode, Yamato tried telling Takeo something. But she always dropped the subject. The first time was by text, and it was the night she was baking the cookies. Her being distressed probably made her ruin her cookies. And the second time, Takeo could see that Yamato was hiding something. Poor guy is reading girly magazines to learn about girls because he cares so much about Yamato (which didn’t help). Ai finds him reading the magazine in the store, so she speaks with him and says that she’ll talk with Yamato about what’s bothering her, thinking maybe it’ll be easier if she talked with someone of the same gender. Yamato really doesn’t think herself a good person, I hope she’s not hiding something big. Maybe she’s not happy with how their relationship is right now, and maybe she wants to do things like hold hands, hug, kiss, and all that. But she doesn’t want to mention it because Takeo said he wouldn’t touch her, because she’s so pure-hearted. And maybe wanting those things would not make her pure-hearted, even though those things are normal, and she’s making a big deal out of nothing? And she just doesn’t know how to bring it up??????
Yeah? Sure. Or maybe it’s something else. Though I doubt she’s two-timing him, I do wonder what her deal is. Big sis Ai to the rescue next week!
Haha, I loved the cliffhanger of this episode. It’s really fun to know what will happen next because you already read the manga but watch everyone else freak out and try to guess what will happen. My words of advice is to never doubt a character in this series. Also do not underestimate the adorableness and innocence this show contains:)
My best guess is that Takeo keeps harping on with this “pure-hearted” thing, so she feels guilty/ashamed of asking him to kiss.
