I love sports anime.
Remember last week when I was talking shit about Joseph not knowing how to play video games? Well it turns out that JOTARO DOESN’T KNOW EITHER. And he told Joseph to back off because he doesn’t know anything about games…and yet…I really thought he was bluffing the whole time, but I guess not. I assumed Jotaro’s played games before. Maybe he doesn’t have a console at home but maybe he’s played somewhere else.
Well just like I suspected, Kakyoin loses. D’Arby purposely made him push his car off the track and further on it, Kakyoin admitted defeat, and now he’s an ugly doll. Jotaro takes a seat. Joseph tries to stop him, but Jotaro tells him to back off. So he wagers his soul (again) and picks a baseball game, which D’Arby just so happens to be best at. This game has the funniest Engrish name I’ve ever heard, I spent most of my time laughing at the title. It was also pretty silly seeing Atum and Star Platinum as the players.
They pick their teams, they start. D’Arby doesn’t even pitch yet and Jotaro already swung the bat. And it’s then that we find out that he’s never played this game, or any game for that matter. And Jotaro’s telling Joseph to chill, that he knows the rules to baseball, and he’ll figure out the controls as he goes along. Honestly if I were Jospeh, I would have reacted the same too. I wanted to grab this boy’s shoulders and shake him too. But I guess the result would be the same if Joseph were playing too.
So he’s screwing up. He’s on his third player, with two outs, in the first inning, and he hasn’t scored or even hit. But then he says he’s learned how to bat, and hits a homerun. D’Arby gets pissed, doesn’t get it, and Jotaro keeps hitting homeruns and bumps his score to 4. Unbelievable. But D’Arby doesn’t believe he’ll lose, so he keeps playing. He switches his pitcher in the game for someone faster, and Jotaro messes up and gets three outs. But before he did, D’Arby declared what kind of pitch he’d throw, trying to throw Jotaro off his game. Now it’s time for Star Platinum to pitch, so Jotaro decides to try something out. He aims his pitch at the batter and when he throws the pitch, D’Arby dodges and hits a homerun. It’s at this time that they think that D’Arby’s stand can read minds, and that’s how he knows where Jotaro is going to throw the ball.
Jotaro takes his hat off and shit gets real. Not much to talk about this time, just a really intense baseball game. I thought D’Arby was going to be handled in this episode, but it looks like this is going to take awhile. I’m excited to see what happens next week.
