It feels like Houkago no Pleiades is finally finding its stride after last week’s episode. This week was enjoyable and kept me engaged from start to finish. This weeks’ episode focused on wrapping up Aoi’s and Subaru’s inner conflict by covering Aoi’s side of the story. While the other girls’ central episodes mainly revolved around themselves, this one had a little bit more happening rather than a linear line of one key event. There were a lot of things that I liked about this episode, but my top favourite was the conclusion of Aoi’s and Subaru’s inner conflict.
I was not that surprised by the reveal about Aoi’s and Subaru’s origin worlds being completely different from each other (in fact I don’t think anyone was). I had my suspicions due to their arguments of their fights failing to connect the dots. The proof these two girls came from one of their parallel worlds was the key-chain Subaru had made. In both worlds, Subaru had lost her key-chain, but the result of what happened after they found it was different. In Subaru’s world, she didn’t give it to Aoi, simply vowed she will never lose it again and treasure it. In Aoi’s world: Subaru gave her the key-chain. With this they were able to confirm neither were left behind.
It was both funny and puzzling to watch Minato trick Subaru about being someone else. I suppose it makes a bit of sense since Minato himself said he was willing to leave the greenhouse, but I still find it a bit strange. He had purposely acted as if he was someone else, which I liked because it helped push Subaru in the direction she needed to go, of being more confident in herself and not afraid to voice her thoughts on the spot. After all it takes courage to boldly shout out to someone who you don’t know is the same person you think it is that the outfit they are wearing looks strange on them. (That scene was hilarious though, it cracked me up real good because Minato wasn’t expecting it). But it cracks me up even thinking about how had it been someone else or another parallel world edition of him or something- which had crossed my mind before the reveal.
I look forward to learning more about Dark Star’s purposes for collecting the fragments himself. He pointed out before disappearing how they have no right of touching the fragments. It is clear he is increasingly running out of patience, so I am just waiting for the guy to snap.
Next week, it looks like the girls might just have their chance to meet Minato in person now that they are seeing Subaru hang out with him in the garden, hahaha!
