Who else was completely caught off guard when the episode ended? I was expecting more, it wasn’t supposed to end just there- NOW WE HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER WHOLE WEEK! GAHHHHHHHH!!!! But holy shit guys, shit just hit the fan like no other- and no, I am not exaggerating, because my god, I can sure as hell tell you right now I did not expect it to blow up the way it did, and I cannot emphasized how fucked up it is.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 52 Img 0006It started off with a glory of congratulating the finalists who survived the Battle Royale, but then the winds shifted to LDS’ Chairwoman Himeka, making a world-wide announcement claiming the tournament will be postponed and  suddenly revealed the conflict of the Dimensional Invasion by Academia. They then proceeded to glorify the finalists who fought against the Obelisk Forces, identifying them as their soldiers, and then Reiji comes in and proceeds to announce that LDS, Leo Dueling School is now officially renamed to Lance Defence Soldier, and will be recruiting those who wish to fight. They want ahead with the fear-mongering: broadcasted the battles, the victims being carded, and are now recruiting more people to join their forces!

Do you understand the scale of what is happening here? It is so fucked up, that it’s mind-boggling. As I was watching all of this unfold before me, I was disturbed, disgusted to the extent I wanted to throw up, my heart broke for Yuuya to the point I was at the verge of tears. There are so many twisted crap taking place within this one announcement, I can’t decide which one of them is the most messed up. Reiji even said so himself,  “The days of peace and tranquility are behind us!”
And just like that, the innocence of dueling is gone. It is now officially turned into a weapon, and the people are ready to embrace it.

It is truly a startling development. Reiji could have very well kept this under the wraps, kept it as a small special forces to take Academia down- he has the ability to do so, but no. He decided to drag everyone in the Standard Realm into this war. What gets to me is the very fact my fear of what is happening to him as already reached this extent. At this point, he is no better than his father. The two of them are surely two sides of the same coin, different motives, same tactic. Both are attempting to reigns as the Hero of the all the Realms, the Protector of Justice. Now more than ever, the value of the innocence of dueling, the entertainment it provides is something that has become sacred, and needs to be practiced and reminded of in order for it not to be overshadowed by the corruption of war.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 52 Img 0015This is how Youko’s role became so important. Her character, her past, her relationship with Yushou and how he had changed her makes her invaluable. She is now doing the same thing Yushou had did for her to Yuuya in order to (literally) give him several wake-up slaps.

In the past, she was a delinquent leader of the Ladies, the Shooting Star (unfortunately she is not a D-Wheel Duelist, boo). She would go around picking aggressive fights and pummelling her opponents to the ground. That was her way of dueling, that’s how she lived, until one day her friend was captured by her enemy, and she had to fight against the odds. It was then when Yushou showed up, telling them they shouldn’t be dueling like that, they should be having fun. In the process of dazzling them with his magical performance, he successfully saves her friend and in the end no one got hurt.
And that’s how she fell in love with him.

UGH, NOW I REALLY WANT TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THEIR LOVE STORY *SOBS* I HOPE WE CAN HEAR MORE ABOUT IT NEXT WEEK! WRITERS PLEASE, GIVE US MORE!!!! *CLINGY HANDS* ACTUALLY MAYBE THIS MIGHT LEAD UP TO WHY HE DISAPPEARED IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?!?!

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 52 Img 0032

They did a good job with the delivery, bringing back that lightheartedness that the first half of the episode was severely lacking due to the gloom and doom. It was fun to watch Yuuya be so confused and lost about his mother acting out the way she did, even at times sounding like he was embarrassed by her. He had no idea she was such a badass delinquent.
Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 52 Img 0026 But you know what I cherished? All while she was doing this to drag Yuuya back to his roots, we were able to see how much she loves both of them, and in her husband’s place, she did what she had to do to protect Yuuya from walking down the path of chaos and remind him, if his father Yushou can fight to save another without hurting anyone, so can he. I also appreciated the fact our characters are expirence some parental guidance, even more so coming from Youko, the only mother of all the Yugioh series I can think of to have such a major role.

Finally, I am relieved they had broke the news of that Yuzu is missing to her father. But at the same time I am kind of irritated because it is sort of like a domino effect. Reiji was already fuelling Yuuya’s desire to be part of his Lancers group and is now indirectly motivating Shuzo, her father into wanting to storm into Academia and save her himself. It’s what you expect out of a parent, but it’s disheartening that no one knows that she is safe and their love and grief are being taken advantage of. This also (as expected) ended up being part of one of the reasons Selena has officially sworn alliance to the Lancers. She is in Yuzu’s debt, and wishes to save her as well. Reiji just killed two birds with one stone, that stone being Yuzu, the trigger of it all. Which brings me to think more about Yuzu’s character. She is the wildcard, the trigger of the storyline. Her character is important. Most female characters are passive in the Yugioh series, yet even when she’s not there, she still has such a significant role, and I like that. That being said though, I do miss her dearly, and I look forward to seeing her again hopefully sooner than later!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who got “Kyoko Honda” vibes after knowing Yoko was a delinquent XD
Oh yeah, I love how Yuya went Yuzu.wav and how much Yuzu moves the plot and the characters and the huge array of characters she does interact besides the Protagonist without their interaction being related to the protagonist(as in the only reason for them to interact being the MC), but let’s leave that aside because Yuzu didn’t appear in this episode.
Oh Yuya, poor, poor dear Yuya, My heart goes to you, it was hard to watch as the children accused him in their confusion and grief, it won’t do any favors to Yuya who already has a lot of issues and feel guilty enough for not being able to “protect” Yuzu, and Shuzo’s reaction also thorn my heart into small pieces, I really love how involved, alive and reliable parents are in this Anime, it’s something rare even outside of Yu-Gi-Oh, Shuzo is best dad of the year hahaha.
Also, I think the most shocking part is Futoshi saying what a lot of people was thinking about Sora, I found it realistic that someone finally pointed the bullcrap in his actions(I still love Sora, but we need to remember that he was a ass as of late), I seriously wonder who will change Sora’s to the good guys side, Yuya or Yuzu heh.
I like the idea about them recruiting more people, and someone had a theory that Reiji plans to form a Lancers Team B to be the “Shield” while Yuya and Co are the Team A, the “Lance”, with the “Shield” protecting Standard as Team A goes across dimensions, I hope so, because it means there’s a chance for Yaiba and Masumi having a bit of spotlight again, I love these two, and the fact that they realized that Hokuto was carded breaks my heart further, damn Arc V, why you’re so good?! I forgot that we even have Utapri this year because of you!!!!
Something I thought it was funny that I read on the internet about Reiji is how they see Reiji trying to trigger Yuya as him being kid in a factory of fireworks, drenched in kerosene and with a match on his hand lolol, everyone wants to see Reiji triggering Yuya to the point it will blow in his face later lol.

LMAO That is so true, everyone wants to see Yuuya put Reiji in his place. When the time comes, I want to see Yuuya troll this shit out of him with his dazzling tricks. It would be glorious to watch.
After those kids went ahead to blame Yuuya for failing to protect Yuzu, I was both shocked and relieved to see Futoshi of all people to point it out. It will be interesting to see whether or not Sora will end up being redeemed. One of the things I do wonder about him is what does he truly think about the whole Yuzu Sisters kidnapping thing. He seems to be out of the loop about the purposes Selena, Yuzu, Rin and Ruri play, and had no idea about their counterparts until he saw Selena and mistaken her for Yuzu. The next time we see him, we might see him starting to ask questions about why Selena needed to be captured and may overhear the failure of capturing Yuzu- but this is Sora, and he’s a shady little shit so I not holding any expectations to my speculations.
🙁 Yuuya didn’t sign up for this, BUT SCREW THE LANCE RULES, IT’S TIME FOR A DIMENSIONAL SHOWTIME TOUR! /SLAPPED

I really felt bad for Yuya in this episode being forced to join the Lancers by Reiji. I had a feeling Reiji known about what happened to Yuzu since he has cameras everywhere! Also I had a feeling he would lie about what happened to her to get Yuya to join his Lancers because Yuya would have never join the Lancers because Yuya doesn’t believe in using Dueling as a weapon. To Reiji all he wants Yuya for is to study him on his duels so he can copy him.
Yuya’s Mom is so cool and she duels even better. I would have never guess Yuya’s mom to have been a leader of a motorcycle gang. I don’t like part where the kids where blaming Yuya for what happened to Yuzu it’s not his fault for what happened to her. But hopefully this duel with his mom will help Yuya to get back to his old self.
Also did you see the preview for the next episode!!
Yuzu is so cute as a baby in her father’s arms with her bracelet! Also their is a part where she is a little kid laughing! You can see pictures of the preview on a facebook page for Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V.
Unless it has been officially featured in the Preview of the episode, anything outside of that is considered spoilers so please remember to tag it next time.

you should know she back in episode 54. Summaries says it all about her and Yugo

    1. Eva

I avoid reading summaries to ensure I will always be surprised and avoid setting up potential expectations. But nevertheless it’s good to hear that we will be seeing Yuzu again sooner than later.

  4. TheVoid

All I got from the part where Yushou appeared is that he brainwashes people into smiling, forcing fake happiness unto all. Final boss material.
And Reiji wouldn’t be able to keep any of it under wraps, as Sawatari would reveal it anyways like he does at the beginning.
Also I swear if Yuzu didn’t magically appear on Shuzo’s doorstep next episode I am going to laugh if she was born with that breclet, cause she’s shown with it as a baby.

  5. partner555

I wasn’t real sure how Reiji planned to take down Academia with the few lancers he had, but this episode showed that he is going to recruit more lancers.
    And Yuya’s mother, actually duels!!!

  6. 75chaosflare

While I do like this episode the only thing that bothered me was the kids except Tatsuya blaming Yuya, regardless it was understandable I didn’t like it one bit due to it being an even more of an emotional wreck for him.
There are also a ton of contrast between Reiji and Yuya where their duel was based on a clash of ideals: Yuya who always believed that duels where for making people happy until he ran into the plot where it’s being used for ugly purposes; Reiji already knowing the truths of duels where fighting with emotions won’t get you very far in life/death situations as well as taking any risk possible to achieve his goals like manipulating/sacrificing people for his goals which based on his deck is selling your soul to demons for power, keeping on a 2k penalty despite the fact they were all invaded and assembling a team knowing full well they wouldn’t stand a chance. Lastly Reiji who originally wants to defeats Reo slowly becomes just like him, whereas Yuya who wanted to be just like Yushou is slowly becoming the opposite.

  7. Miriki Takato

Yoko is the best mom ever in the YGO history! I feel bad for Yuuya and Yuzu’s dad, and I don’t actually blame the kids for blaming Yuuya because…well, they are kids. The part which the audiences yelled at Sawatari is the most realistic thing ever! I still remember in Zexal, the audiences just watched the freaking duel and even if Yuma changed to some golden clothes, they still acted like normal…
The duel is not actually a duel at all, it’s a show!!!!! Yuuya should inherit some courage from his mom XD! That part is actually funny, LOL, and I hope Yoko would come with them to the Synchro dimension and drive an actual D-wheel! The love story between her and Yuusho is kind of cute XD!
For Reiji, he is the same as his father, and I have to admit that his plan of gaining people supports are smart. There isn’t a lot happens in this ep though, I’m waiting for the synchro arc!
