Welcome to todays episode of “Which Ship is it anyway?” the show that has been dividing for fandoms for generations has hit full force on the Haruhi train. Is it Kyon/Haruhi or is it Kyon/Yuki? Or, will it be Yuki/Mikuru, coming in as the yuri pairing from left field?! Let’s find out on todays episode of “WHICH SHIP IS IT ANYWAY?”
Alright, In all seriousness, the idea of ships was going to have to come up in a Valentines episode. However, the only one presented in a traditional Valentines episode manor is Yuki preparing the chocolate for Kyon and worrying about presenting them to him.
So we begin the episode with Asakura and Tsuruya getting into an adorable off between Yuki and Mikuru, to debate which one is more adorable. In the process, rattling off embarrassing things like Nagato calling Asakura ‘Mom’ in her sleep, and Mikuru’s star shaped mole.
It ends with everyone pointing out how cute Yuki was for hiding the stuff for making Valentines chocolate and her feeling super awkward about it. So speaking of Valentines chocolate, on February 13th, club activities are canceled so Yuki and Asakura can make chocolates.
So Kyon waits outside the gates to tell Haruhi that club activities are canceled so she doesn’t trespass for no good reason. So, in typical Haruhi fashion, since there are no club activities and Itsuki isn’t around because of obligations at his real school. Haruhi grabs Kyon and goes off in search of the supernatural.
What are they searching for today? Water imps, of course! In a freezing river. Honestly, If I was a water imp i’d hang out in warmer water. This scene is just, I can’t even with it. I was trying to set aside this ship for this series, telling myself that I had the main storyline for the Kyon/Haruhi ship. This scene wouldn’t allow it though.
When he goes in to help her. When he rushes to grab her to keep her from falling. When she asks him if he thinks Water Imps exist and he doesn’t flat out say ‘No’. How can I NOT want to ship this?
Oh yeah, because the rest of the episode is about Yuki’s nervousness about giving him chocolates. Getting encouraged by Mikuru and Tsuruya, Asakura and her setting up a plan to go to the club room and meet with Kyon alone to give him the chocolates. Tsuruya’s encouragement is kind of mean and rough around the edges but gets the point across.
Mikuru’s reads more like a love confession then encouragement to give chocolates to someone else. It’s fine though, you know her heart is in the right place.
So it’s the all important after school, with all the plans in place and encouragement laid out. It’s time for Yuki to give Kyon her chocolates, I’m sure everything is going to go just fi…
OF COURSE HE’S THERE WITH HARUHI, WHO IS GIVING HIM A CHOCOLATE BAR. NOT EVEN, HOME MADE CHOCOLATES BUT A CHOCOLATE BAR. OF BLOODY COURSE, THERE IS GOING TO BE, WHAT IS PROBABLY A MISUNDERSTANDING.
I DOUBT, THAT IS EVEN FOR VALENTINES DAY, AND MORE SHE GOT IT OUT OF A VENDING MACHINE FOR HIM ON HIS REQUEST OR SOMETHING. So anyway, dramatic moment, Yuki drops the chocolate.
Episode ends.
AAAAHHH, What the bloody beep on a beep sammich am I supposed to be shipping this series? Is this whole chocolate thing a misunderstanding? Yuki, it’s okay, I love you baby but…MY SHIP! Kyon/Haruhi has so many good moments this episode! -flails about like a mad woman- Next episode, ‘Her Melancholy’….so it’s an episode about Haruhi…
STOP CONFUSING ME SHOW! STAPH!
