*CUE TO GROSS SOBBING* BELL x HESTIA IS THE BEST. Seriously, I can’t get over it. It was so beautiful and emotional to watch. The beautiful thing about their relationship is that they are team. Bell needs someone to have faith in him, especially during his lowest moments. Even though it was a dangerous monster from God knows which floor in the Dungeon, Hestia had no doubt in her mind that Bell would be able to defeat the Silverback. Once she entrusted him the knife and updated his status, and she was super excited to see him succeed since she knew in her heart that he now had the ability to pull it off.
For me, (as of right now): The highlight of the story already is simply Hestia’s and Bell’s partnership. They make the best team. Hestia’s unwavering faith in Bell and his desire to protect his beloved Goddess.
Today they showed us of how important Hestia is to Bell, and why he is so humble around her, and always puts her above him. After Bell’s grandfather was killed by a monster, he made the resolve to become an Adventurer. But being accepted into a Familia was not as easy as he had hoped it to be. At every step he was rejected, told he was/looked too weak, door slammed in face, it in a way broke him until Hestia comes along, and extends her hand, offering him the opportunity join her Familia. She picked him up, not caring about how inexperienced or weak he was. This is why it is so important to Bell to protect and respect her. He is eternally grateful for her taking him in, and making him into an Adventurer. Her kindness and faith she has in him is irreplaceable. I teared up when Bell began crying when Hestia was explaining to him about his new knife.
The best thing about the Hestia knife is how it’s alive. As Bell grows stronger, so will the knife. It’s a weapon that will over time become more powerful and more resistant. I like how Hestia describes it to be their knife. It is meshed with her unwavering faith in him and Bell’s resolve to become stronger.
Poor Bell must have had a heart-attack when Hestia collapsed. We the audience/readers already had an idea of the cause behind of it. Surely it was simply exhaustion after sleepless nights working to persuade Hephaistos and the create the unique knife just for him.
Overall this was a great episode. I really enjoyed the fighting sequences, the insight behind the real reason of why Bell wanted to become an Adventurer in the first place. The original soundtrack also stood out to be today and I eagerly anticipate the future tracks. I was glad to see them integrate the majority of the scenes that were cut out last week. It worked out perfectly.
Next week, it’s the beginning of Volume 2! I am very excited to learn a bit more about this “weak” Support character. I am absolutely digging the idea of Hestia’s family growing from a bunch of weaklings into the most badass Familia on the block.
Note of the Week: Hestia will always be more than happy to have Bell sweep her off her feet any day. 😉

Hestia is shaping up to be one of my favorite characters of the season. Such a wonderful girl.
She will probably be my QUEEN of the 2015. XD It’s refreshing to have such a genuinely sweet female character who conveys
her love in the way she does. ; v ; Hestia is Bestia!
I agree, Bell x Heista is literally the best its like my otp of the season (one of them at least). HESTIA IS BESTIA AND BELL IS JUST TOO ADORABLE I CAN’T EVEN. But seriously, its only been three episodes and I already adore DanMachi. Heck, I loved it from the start when it was announced and I had no idea what it was except for its summary. I’m glad that my gut was right^^ I should really pick up the manga adaption. Obviously I would prefer the original source but that’s just not really available:/ And I too am excited for this Supporter girl.
My favorite part of this episode might have been when Bell carried Hestia bridal style<3
It’s funny because me too, it’s only episode 3 and I already know this is my favourite show of the season. It’s the one I look forward to every week, and now since i know nothing of Vol 2, it only makes me even more excited. But gosh, the second I get the volume, I don’t think I will be able to resist diving in. I HAVE THE MIGHTY NEED TO READ IT!
XD Hestia was SO HAPPY when he swept her off her feet- it was just so precious, “SORRY BELL, BUT I CAN’T HELP BUT I AM REALLY HAPPY RIGHT NOW.” XDDD UFF, I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THE TWO, OTP OF THE SEASON!
Hmm, I’m loving that we got lots of resolution here, but also a few mysteries too! 😀 Also, yes, Bell and Hestia are still my favourite pairing out of the past few anime seasons!
1. What is Hestia’s blood doing to that blade?
Although, it’s probably what’s allowing the blade to update with Bell, kind of like what Hestia does on his back but automatically and just for the ‘Hestia Knife’
2. Where did Hestia’s “flower petal” and “bell” hairties come from? O_o
At least, the silver piece under each blue trimmed “flower petal” cluster looks like a bell without the ball bearings.
3. Just how intelligent are ‘Monsters’?
I only ask because that Sliverback made some wicked expressions (multiple smiles), gestures (spitting out the mouth guard) and moves (using the chains as weapons)! It probably depends on what floor they’re from, too 😮
I also enjoyed how reasonable events were 🙂
-Ganesha prioritizing safety over status
-Aiz not saving the day entirely (though I wouldn’t have minded her and Bell teaming up)
-The ‘Hestia Knife’ being the only of its kind due to unorthodox blacksmith principles and being made by two goddesses.
I love that Hestia got a new job and under Hephaestus of all people, so that solves part of the payment issue 😉
Danmachi is certainly shaping up to be a potential AOTS contender. It all depends on how it executes it’s remaining episodes.
