Well we’re back to Yoru No Yatterman. The show I couldn’t wait for the next episode of…. and it broke my heart. (Shakes fist) DAMN YOU YORU!) Why did it break my heart? Well let me discuss what happened in this episode.
So the episode begins where the last one left off. With Dokurobey revealing that he is really the Yatterman that basically took over the world.
He reveals how he did this (funnily enough with a VHS tape). It turns out that Dokurobey’s really an alien (which is why he can live so long) originally he needed to collect pieces of something to get back to his homeworld but the Yatterman kept stopping him.
Eventually after countless times of losing, he finally defeated the Yatterman and took over the world as vengeance for them stopping him in the first place and enslaving all of humanity.
He of course, offers them a place at his side, but they decline saying they’d never work for them and they are sent to the prison where Goro is.
There, Oda and Gatchan’s dice invention manage to get the keys from the guards and free them.
Meanwhile, Goro’s cybernetic enhancements are failing and his human memories begin to flood back and they confirm that indeed yes, Goro is indeed the father of Aloutte as we see through a really touching montage.
The gang runs through the headquarters and try to escape but the robots are hot on their heels. That’s when Goro shows up and uses himself as a distraction while they escape.
After they run away Gatchan actually realizes who Goro really is, and runs back to try to save him, but he tells him to run and blows himself up to save them.
The group escapes in a bird mech. However they realize they have to go back and stop Dorobey. Unfortunately they are shot down out of the sky and the episode ends with them sinking into the water.
Man. I gotta say. If this were the last episode, this would be a REALLY REALLY depressing ending. Like…if the series ended here, it would leave me questioning life. Thank god there’s one more episode.
This episode, the long and short of it, was depressing. This definitely is the low point before the series ends. I like Goro. Once i realized a bunch of episodes back he was Alloute’s father I actually became really invested in him. And the sad part is, she never even finds out that this guy was her father. That to me is the saddest part. But you know what? At least he goes out like a badass. He seriously has no legs, riding a dog, and missing an arm, and still kicking ass.
This is really the only thing about this episode that upset me. He was taken from his daughter, forced to work, and then transformed into something evil. Only at the end does he realize who he is and what’s the most important to him. And the fact that his daughter will never know breaks my heart.
On a flip side, I do have to say I enjoyed the comedy parts at the beginning part. At first, the wrong VHS is put in, and then secondly Dokorobey forgot to rewind the correct one.
I must say, the first half and the jokes played up really caught me off guard for the second half. they have a lot of fun in this show and you forget that sometimes there’s really dark parts and that’s good in a way, but also is very depressing at times.
This is a very bad place to end the episode. Not in terms of actually being bad, but in terms of “Gah! MY SOUL!” It’s one of those episodes that if I were not watching this show weekly to review it, I would IMMEDIATELY watch the next episode after this, no matter what I was doing.
I can’t believe there’s only one more episode to this show. I have really liked this show overall. The highs, the lows, I enjoyed pretty much all of it. I know it has to end next episode, but I hope it does so in a good way. Regardless, when it’s over, i’m going to miss it. Ah well, I still have one more episode to look forward to.
So, glasses raised, see you all next week for one more episode.
Episode 7.5/10
