And lo, we return to Baby’s first shonen, aka World Trigger. But now it’s time for something a little more badass. That’s right. It’s time for the invasion.
So let’s begin our recap.
The episode starts off with Wet blanket gathering a few of his classmates and telling them that they need to watch over the rest of the group and make sure they get to safety.
Both Wet Blanket and Duck face transform in their magical girl transformation scenes while the rest of the school thinks they’re all super cool.
As Border begins to fight the crazy onslaught amount of Neighbor robots they take them out pretty easily. That is, until they reveal their big plan. To have rabbit monsters pop out of the dead big monsters. Their plan? to capture the members of border.
Pretty much anybody that’s not an A class has really no chance of taking these things down. They’re a lot faster, stronger, and overall better fighters than the larger ones.
Hearing that one of their people has been captured, one of the A rank groups decide they need to help out and rescue him.
The episode then ends with some guys in a room looking at the battle. and one of them smirking for some reason.
If you couldn’t guess, this is one of THOSE episodes. You know, one of those episodes where a lot of stuff happens, but at the same time, there’s nothing really to talk about. They’re preparing for the invasion, it comes, they fight each other, they show the reactions of the different teams including people we’ve never met before, and then they reveal the rabbit neighbors who then go about trying to capture people.
Really, these shots are a lot of the episode.
Yeah…
While it may seem like a lot of stuff happened, it’s nothing really you can describe. If I were to recap it, it would sound a lot like “and then the guy from a B squad group shoots a neighbor and then grimaces. Then we cut to another guy who stabs a neighbor” and that is not even remotely interesting.
You tend to get caught up a lot in the action, but that also brings me to the ‘Baby’s first shonen’ comment I made earlier.
So what is really at stake here for the members of border? The answer? If they fail, they’re going to get kidnapped and taken back to the neighbor world. But at the same time, there’s not sense of urgency or life impending danger. Yes they’ll be captured, but it feels weird. There’s a scene where the rabbit thing rips a dude’s arms off….but they’re trion bodies, so he just escapes and goes back to base.
It leaves the series with a weird feeling. We’re over 20 episodes in and NOBODY has died in this show, and for such an extensive cast…that’s pretty crazy. It’s strange that in every battle, there’s really no reason to be afraid. It isn’t as if they’re going to die, only get captured, and I have mixed feelings about that. It’s good that we don’t have to worry about our favorite characters dying in every battle, but at the same time…it takes away a bit of the drama knowing that tension is gone.
Still, I AM interested to see more of what happens in this battle and who that guy smirking was.
Overall…episode wasn’t bad, but it leaves me intrigued and wanting to know more. Which is good I suppose.
Episode 6.5/10

Duckface count: 1 (I know, right?)
I have a theory that the story has been tip toeing around death is because when somebody does die that will carry that much more dramatic weight. Looking at Attack on Titan they treat death as an everyday occurrence and yet overtime you started feeling less and less for when people die. I think the way World Trigger is pretty unique. People haven’t died yet so when/if someone does it will be felt alot more.
