If you have something you want to achieve, as long as your mind is set on it, you can do it.

Either go all in or don’t do it at all. This week, Haruka’s princess-to be mission required absolute commitment. The academy is hosting the annual Noble Party, a formal gathering for the students. After Minami shares the dress she had touched up with embroidery for last year’s party, Haruka becomes inspired to make her own dress. However with no prior knowledge of sewing, they turn to Miss Shamour to help her out once again. Once the basics are learned and understood, Haruka is fired up and devotes all her time to the dress. However the consequence of neglecting her studies comes back to bite her and Minami scolds her, telling her to drop the dress project if she can’t commit to her studies first.

Truthfully speaking, I was very concerned about Haruka’s health throughout the episode. She was so determined to finish that dress, and keep up with her studies, that she sacrificed her sleeping hours. Everyone could tell (especially Kirara who was extremely concerned about her) that Haruka was exhausted, but that didn’t stop her from finishing the dress and then having to fix it (DAMNIT PAFU!!!), keep up with her studies and then most importantly: Precure Duties! How Haruka managed to persevere through all that did surprise me. I honestly though she was going to end up sick for the party, but they can’t have that now can they? Haruka went all in, not once ever second guessing herself. While Kirara has shown today to be very down to earth and realistic, she felt ashamed that she didn’t believe in Haruka the way Minami had. However her concerns for Haruka meant just as much as Minami had believed in her. Minami simply took a different approach, providing Haruka the space to allow her to achieve on her own without anyone’s help (and Kirara offered to help her fix the dress after Pafu’s spill, she still declined). I like this because we were able to see a different side of each of the characters. We were able to see further how determined Haruka is, and when her mind is set, nothing can stop her- she will make it work! Kirara showed us her softer side, concerns about her friends and their well-being, constantly watching their back, making sure they are holding up okay. And Minami, she showed us another level of her maturity. She can be icy and doesn’t cut anyone any slack, even if they are her friends, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t believe in them. It’s just her way of helping them grow.

There was a little moment in the episode that I enjoyed seeing, which was Kirara utilizing her Mode Elegant to simply break through the err, pans that were separating them from Haruka. We don’t always see them do that this early on, but it’s refreshing because it shows us Kirara’s quick thinking. However at the same time, it also shows that Lock is definitely stronger than he looks since his Zetsuborg was stronger as well. The fact Kirara had to use her Mode Elegant tells us right now that the girls will need to grow stronger, perhaps sooner than later.

You can fly, you brainless imitation dog! Stop tripping over yourself!
Kirara was adorable in this episode when she was worried about Haruka. …Ok, so she’s been adorable in all the other episodes at all other times, too. Perhaps she’s just adorable in general. Can I keep her?

      ALL HAIL THE ADORABLENESS!

I like the last part when Kirara’s face got red. And yet that Pafu (Puff) didn’t scolded by Haru-Haru (unlike the past Cure leaders except Blossom and Heart, who had the same case) because of her tripping. Ms Shamour did a very good job so far, while Lock’s got his new err, players or opponent players I guess? It’s just Flora’s team after all.
And oh my God, that 3rd opening preview for Spring Carnival with Seiji is more than 9999% of my fan gal mode to the max (GOSH DAMMIT SEIJI, YOU’RE GETTING HOTTER IN HARU NO CARNIVAL, BABY [forget about Blue-sama, yet I rather to go with that Prince Kanata for good]!)! Then Lovely and Flora made their own collaboration punching punch there; the first meeting between the Happiness Charge and the Princess Cures is really nostalgic until Odoren (the guy from PCASSC voiced by Atsuhiko Nakata of the Manzai (Japanese comedy) duo that is Oriental Radio) appeared behind them. But I ain’t gonna see the movie till the usual DVD/Blu-Ray release came out before it gets subbed.
By the way, have ya heard the two versions of the movie’s theme song called “Ima Koko Kara (Right Here, Right Now)?” I liked the version of Morning Musume ’15 much because it’s very catchy, but I do like also the Pretty Cures’ version of the song itself, it’s really cute.

Seiji will forever be our bias. XD
I’m not entirely sure if I have heard to the two versions of the movie’s theme song, but I’ll take a look. ;3

Okay so this is the first Precure I’m watching, and these girls are total brawlers? There’s no elemental attacks until the very last minute (the Mode Elegant), they just straight up punch, kick, and flip around in princess dresses like…what in the world. I’ve been wanting to make this comment before, but the show’s fight scenes have always impressed me.
    Kirara best girl btw.

Congrats, you have discovered one of the things that makes Pretty Cure stand out as a franchise. The girls always beat the tar out of their enemies before resorting to magic to finish them off. Splash Star was the only one that tried to diverge from that by having the girls use more magic attacks and having magical sparklies appear around the girls when they did fight physically, and shield-effects when they took hits or landed from a high jump, or jumped high, whatever. It seemed to be trying to make the Precures into more traditonal magical girls (although they were still pretty physical compared to most). And then every Precure series since then has gone back to having the girls just beat the stuffing out of the things with enhanced physical abilities and generally saving the magic for special/finishing moves, so it seems that attempt didn’t go over well with fans.
PS: If you’re enjoying this, you should totally track down some of the Precure series and give them a try. Suite, Heartcatch, Fresh, DokiDoki, and Happiness Charge (insert either the word Precure or “Pretty Cure” after each to search for them) are all good ones. Really, all of the Precure series are at least decent, but the aforementioned are, in my opinion, the better choices among the many.
PPS: I saw her first! No stealing my Star Princess! 😉

Hi there, if Go! Princess is your first Pretty Cure season, then welcome to the fandom girl! 😀
I’ve been a fan of Pretty Cure for eight years now (going nine this November), so I already know the mysteries as well as lots of discoveries of each season. My primary faves in the anime were the leaders incl Haru-Haru/Flora yet I like the other Cures from each season too (dammit I love all of them!). I’m also a cosplayer by the ways and watching anime shows in general and an avid fan of various superheroes from around Earth. Actually, those brawling stuff used by the Cures were definitely inspired by Toei’s two popular tokusatsu shows that are Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, so yes. The Cure series was totally different compared to the other mahou shoujo anime (i.g. Sailor Moon, Doremi) that weren’t or little used physical fighting against bad guys and monsters.
Well, since you’re new to Pretty Cure, I’d like to recommend all the seasons if you have time by doing a episode marathon. There’s Heart Catch Pretty Cure! (Hey, Nana Mizuki is in there!), uh, Smile!, the first two seasons that are Futari wa Pretty Cure and Max Heart, Suite, Yes! 5 and GoGo!, Fresh!, Doki Doki! and Happiness Charge!
Oops, I almost forgot Splash Star! Then try to watch some movies as well.

    3. Eva

Precures, kicking ass since 2004! Wanderer and Keiko already summed it up best, being brawling magical girls is main charm of the franchise 8D. Wait till you watch the All Star Movies, that’s going to blow your mind. My favourites series have have been Heart Catch, Happiness Charge (my top fav), Yes! 5 and GoGo!
      Kirara is our Queen. 😉

      1. Berry

…..oh my god. I don’t know if I’d be able to watch ALL of the Precures, but I’ll definitely check out the ones that you guys suggested to me, when i have the time. Thanks!
We need more girls in cute outfits kicking ass, like c’mon.
