Talk about raising the stakes! With Academia sending in their forces in search for Selena, Reiji quickly takes precautionary counter measures and proceeds to speed up his plans. There is a new twist in the tournament, where the top sixteen competitors will be competing in a Battle Royale throughout the entire city. In order to duel, they all must find two Pendulum Cards which have been scattered and use them as bets. Whoever wins gains the number of Pendulum Cards made in the bet. It is crystal clear that Reiji intends to fully utilize the new Pendulum Summoning technique to gain advantage of the lack of knowledge against his father’s forces. I must say it is a brilliant move, but when Yuuya learns about the true purpose of Reiji’s plans, he is undoubtedly going to be incredibly upset that the Pendulum Summoning technique which he had discovered is being used for a war that is about to wage. In the mean time, Reiji has also instructed Shun with a specific mission to be the one responsible for recruiting their forces and fight the enemy if he encounter any, and purposely made it a city-wide Battle Royale so that he can prevent panic and blend the invasion as part of the event.
I am so glad they gave us the back-story regarding Reiji and Selena’s relationship right off the bat. We learned a lot about both Reiji’s and Selena’s characters along with our first look at Abaka Leo (who shocked me really because I would have never guessed he was the father). Reiji and Selena first met three years ago when he had entered his father’s portal and unknowingly crossed dimensions. While roaming Academia, he witnessed Selena being pursued by the guards as she tries to escape from the island in hopes to gain recognition. After realizing that there was no solid vision Reiji jumped into the fray in order to help her out, but both of them were captured and he was send back to the Standard World and is now locked out of the Fusion Dimension. Reiji had the brief opportunity of questioning his father’s motives and learned that he is attempting to “unite the dimensions”- which I have a very hard time believing when he goes about raiding both XYZ and Synchro Worlds. We don’t know of his “definition” of “united” but I can assure you there either must be an ulterior motive or just twisted idea that no one wants to be a part of, especially when they are forced to go along with it, and be invaded.
Selena has relentlessly continued to fight her way out of being held basically captive in the castle of Academia, and finally succeeded since Barret had agreed to join her to hunt down the XYZ Duelists. However with Barret forcing a retreat, he alarmed Academia that she has no intention of returning until she fulfills her mission, they will be sending the Obelisk Force along with Sora to retrieve her. Reiji had tried to persuade her to join his side, but unfortunately she is too preoccupied with trying to gain recognition by Leo so that she can finally participate on the front lines. However it appears that Leo has no intentions of ever allowing her in the front lines since she is too important for his other plans. What her role is supposed to serve, we don’t know yet- but I am certain both her and Yuzu’s bracelet’s pieces have something to do with it.
I am hoping that Selena’s deck didn’t change too much because from the first look, it looks super adorable and surprisingly gives off Entertainment Vibes. I am also a fan of her personality, headstrong, stubborn, fearless and can never sit still. It was cool to see her return Hokuto whom she had captured earlier because she realize he wasn’t her ideal target. Nevertheless I am glad that she and Reiji are in fact NOT siblings. Now we can happily ship them together because they are SO FREAKING ADORABLE (also Young Reiji is PRECIOUS)!
I am SO excited for what there is to come! Action Duel may be a new dueling format, but the name itself now applies to the true Action that is around the corner, but unlike most Action Duels, this one won’t be pretty, and lives will be on the line. With the Battle Royale city-wide, I wonder if anyone will bump into Yugo along the way!

= v = It’s a nice touch of nostalgia that’s for sure. But now that you mention it, Yuuya might actually find himself in a similar situation because he’s the only one who owns an entire deck of Pendulum Cards, so if someone were to beat him- OUCH, they might try and snag some of his personal cards. I’m sure the remaining competitors of Ryozanpaku Dueling School would attempt something like that, especially when it appears they are going to gang up against him next week for revenge.
Not necessarily, they choose how many Pendulum cards they want to bet, so Yuya doesn’t necessarily have to bet all his Pendulum cards. Nevertheless, I have no doubt that Yuya will be target number 1 and at least one person will get Yuya to bet ALL his Pendulum cards.

Ah thank you for reminding me that they choose the number of cards to bet! Though as you said, someone might try, Yuuya probably wouldn’t put all his cards on the line, but without a doubt Odd-Eyes is probably one of the Pendulum Monsters with the highest risk of being taken if it can be any Pendulum Card of their choice rather than being limited to the competition editions. Yuuya has a target on his back, and with members of Ryozanpaku Dueling School still in the competition, it won’t be pretty.

Yuzu and Yuya moment was cute as always, Yoko fangirling about Michio was hilarious and did you see the preview? Yuzu will have her first serious duel against a significantly important dude! If she wins against him then she will get closer to Aki status!(Aki defeated 3 dudes, so to surpass that count Yuzu needs to defeat 3 more dudes in a serious duel to take the throne of best YGO female MWHHAHAHA*Shot*)
I hope Yuzu getsto the top 4, and if she gets there, I wouldn’t mind to see Yuya and Gongenzaka duel again if it means Yuzu dueling Shun even if she loses 8D*hype hype hype!*

Wow, you really are on top of these Arc-V reviews. The sub wasn’t even released that long ago ^_^. Horay for the Spellbook guy getting another line!!! You know, personal tastes but I actually would prefer older Reiji wearing the sweater he wore 3 years ago (without the scarf) considering how much he was rocking the look.
On another note….somewhat disheartening that none of Yuzu’s themes were in the new Arc V Sound of Duel 2 (I think she has 2 themes that were used in her duel)

Its weird, when he said his one line this episode and revealed that Shun was in the Junior Youth League (kind of forgot that) and that he himself was in the Junior league….that means that Pretty Boy is older than Shun….WTF? Shun is freaking tall and yet he’s younger than all the boys shown there with Reiji?
I found that weird too, especially when Shun looks like the older one tbh. Maybe it has to do with being a Senior at the LDS because Shun had only joined when the tournament started, so Pretty Boy would technically be considered as a senior/upper-class man.
If it helps, when I was 20, I encountered a 12-year old who was a head taller than me, at least.
There is a huge variance of heights across the age groups and a younger person could potentially be taller than someone who is their elder.

reiji looks so damm hot before he was cute now he is 16 and he looks so damm hot i hope in the final episode of arc v they get to show all the main cast in their late twenties fulfilling there dreams in future like they did in the final episode in 5ds i am also thinking how will reiji look when he is in his twenties can someone tell me how old is shun
