And here we are, back for another episode of Tribe Cool Crew. Now I know the question you’re all asking. Does this episode have anything to do with the plot, or is it another filler episode. And…it’s kind of the latter. What do I mean by kind of? Let me explain.
So the episode starts out with the group being amazed that Haneru was able to pull off a crazy good move that they don’t show the audience yet called the “Galaxy Walk”. (Apparently it’s kind of an epic moonwalk) Only problem is, Haneru’s unable to do it again. And that’s pretty much where the plot of the episode comes in. Haneru trying to remember how to do this move.
At first he simply tries recalling what happened, but that doesn’t work. So he tries watching a video that he watched right before he did it the first time, that doesn’t work.
In the midst of this the gang invites themselves over to Haneru’s house to tell his parents that they’re inviting him to a training weekend for dance training.
Following this Haneru ends up back at the place where he usually dances and we learn about some of the old caretaker’s background. We see that in the days of disco he actually used to be quite the skilled dancer and was very good at the moonwalk.
Seeing that even after all these years he still hasn’t forgotten how to do the moves, that gives Haneru the motivation to try harder.
However, all that is futile when the training doesn’t help and he just learns how to disco….and it’s pretty awkward.
After he gets yelled at by Kumo though he begins to think and unconsciously does the dance move again. But of course, once he does it, he forgets how to do it again. Wah wah wahhhhh. End of episode.
This episode was…for lack of a better term, pointless. I mean, it was nice to know that they’re going to to throw in a cool new move into their dance, and it was also kind of interesting to see them throw some of the old guy’s background into the story but other than that, the whole “he forgets how to do the move” angle is really unnecessary and this episode in general could have probably been skipped as it didn’t really add anything too important to the story.
I will say this though. In one scene the kids at school have some extra time in gym so their teacher decides to teach them to moonwalk.
What the hell? MY gym teacher never taught me to moonwalk! That’s not fair!
Anyway, there really isn’t a whole lot to say about this episode. He did a move, forgot how he did it, did it again, and then forgot again. It’s not going to win an award for its complex story this episode..but…it wasn’t BAD just…lackluster.
Oh well, they can’t all be winners. 6/10
