Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 13 [ I am…Sailor Moon! ]

This episode was solely designed to torture fans of Sailor Moon. I could pretty much end the review here saying: Why would you end it there? do you hate me? Did I do something wrong? Is this about that Christmas platter I didn’t return to you? I’m sorry I just forgot to wash it and now it’s kind of stained so I felt bad look can you please just give me the ending? Two weeks you say? Well, I shall go lodge myself into a vat of acid.

A lot of the focus of this episode was actually on the strength of the Sailor Senshi. Each of them fought together to try and stop Metallia as Usagi’s ‘death’ and her ‘tears’ brought forth the true form of the Crystal- and Metallia engulfed her and Tuxedo Mask along with it. No big guys, I’m just crying over here. Everything about this episode was just heart rending and absolutely stunning, with a ton of beautiful art moments. I have to admit I am growing a little sick of a very big thing for the animators: A huge zoom in on Usagi’s face mostly showing her eyes. We get it guys, she has big blue innocent eyes.

Seeing the Sailor Senshi actually have their strength fuel them on is absolutely awesome. Not just that, the memory’s of how Usagi made them who they are today and how much they love her is just. . .I want to scream. I love it. I love their friendship and how each and everyone of them seem like actual guardians and protectors while still being girls. They aren’t crapping all over her or having episodes about who should be the ‘leader’ because Usagi is not just the leader- she is their inspiration, their light, their friend and ..their princess.

I’m just really mad that the episode progressed as it did. The ending was basically a cliffhanger of ‘will she beat Metallia?!’ the last two episode’s of pacing are just frustrating and I’m not yet to the point of if that’s a good thing. I think I understand the reason why at the least, if Usagi has nothing to finish next episode but an epilogue it doesn’t seem as dramatic and it would feed right into the next arc. But I kind of already have a feeling they might do that? Anyway, we know she beats Metallia so there was no point in pacing it that way.

In any case, this episode was magical but the ending was frustrating. It was all great but the pacing of it just felt a little weird. There was also a lot of questionable animation and I’m interested in seeing the Blu-ray release to see how it looks perfected. Because of the cliffhanger and the fact that it doesn’t complete it’s point, I feel I can’t really discuss the whole of the first part of Sailor Moon Crystal until next episode, where I’ll give a mid season review.

Until then, Sailor Moon Crystal has basically come to a head- the Senshi love Usagi, Usagi and Mamoru’s love helps them both perservere, *UGLY SOB* THE FREAKING GENERALS, MY LIFE IS OVER THIS SHOW IS RUINING IT I WANT TO GIVE IT ALL MY MONEY SOMEONE GIVE ME MONEY SO I CAN THROW EVEN MORE MONEY AT IT I NEED THIS ON DVD-

Yeah  it’s good. Nothing beats I. . .am Sailor Moon!
