This post took a lot of time because of course it did. Of course this show is this. Congratulations everyone, Maria the Virgin Witch is basically exactly what it says on the tin. Every moment of real contemplation is broken by the show in a serious way in episode 3 – and I really cannot watch it anymore. Why? Because fuck this interpretation of Michael.

Basically the entire premise is, choose between magic or virginity right? Well that’s interesting you know because she has to decide between saving the world or her personal happiness, right? No, the show goes a step further. “well, when you lose your virginity you lose all magic. plus if you interfere too much I’ll stop you.” Uhm okay. THAT MESSES UP THE WHOLE POINT!

SO SHE CAN KEEP HER MAGIC BUT ONLY KIND OF SORT OF? YOU’RE GIVING HER A STUPID ARCHAIC PUNISHMENT BASICALLY FOR USING MAGIC BUT YOU’RE ALREADY SAYING SHE CAN’T INTERFERE ANYWAY, SO THE ENTIRE POINT IS “YOU CANT HAVE SEX OR YOU’LL BE NORMAL HAHA!!!” That’s so. I’m furious. It takes away the mystery and the intrigue because we always know she’s being watched and her powers won’t be able to save people, but she’s also got this stupid –

FUCK ! If they’re going to stop her anyway the punishment is MEANINGLESS. It’s just to further humiliate her sexuality and tell her NOPE GOTTA BE NORMAL. You’re ruining her life and for what? She has no real power here, you’re going to stop her no matter what~ but why not add on that her sexuality is compromised?

This show is. It’s maddening. How can I feel invested in a point when the entire point now is, you can’t do anything. Nothing. If you use more than a sliver of magic it’ll disrupt the world and I’ll punish you! But if you have sex you won’t have magic at all. It’s no longer a magic of choice, Michael even asks “Decide what means more, your personal happiness or the fate of the world.” BUT THE FATE OF THE WORLD IS TOO IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO LET HER FUCK UP??

I can’t. I can’t watch this show! Everything I hoped it would be is stripped away to talk about the simple facts of, fuck, have sex, boobies, hot girl, I’ll take care of you!!! oooh I love him and everything but THE WORLD I CAN’T EVEN CHANGE! the worst part is? I like Maria. I feel like she doesn’t care about this entire show. Fuck Michael, fuck Ezekiel, fuck virginity, fuck sex, fuck affections, fuck war- Maria only cares about stopping what she thinks is wrong and fixing what she thinks is broken.

If this were a show where her succubus companions weren’t constantly going on and on about sex, yeah I get it it’s their function, I could enjoy this show. If not every episode was ‘have sex~~~!!!!’ or ~the world cant deal with this business~ then it’d be tolerable. But no, now every god or the devil and everyone is watching Maria and you know what? I don’t want to. I don’t want to see this. I gave it a shot, but unless Maria turns around I’m done here. Congratulations everyone, enjoy your boobies and pointless stupid plot that contradicts itself.
