So, remember how I said last episode was sort of pointless and not related to the main plot a all? I apologize to episode 14 completely. THIS is the episode of not mattering. And its not even good not mattering its just..dumb and stupid and utterly empty. It is just..bad.
Ok, so, who’s the focus of this episode? Alfonso? Roberto? Leon? Trick question, its none of them, its that blacksmith kid from earlier in the series.
The blacksmith kid and a bunch of others are really impressed with the Golden Knight, but think he must be lonely..so they decide to make their own. Yep, using their amazing technical skill, they will build their own.
This…is just dumb..and silly. Why are we focusing on people? Don’t we have..you know..heroes..fighting horrors and other interesting things? Why are we here, watching this?
And basically, they’re working off of their memories of him so their interpretation is….a bit different from the real thing…
They have problems moving with it so…so they make a STEAM PUNK ENGINE FOR IT. A STEAMPUNK ENGINE BUILT FOR THEIR ROBOSUIT MADE BY MEDIEVAL BLACKSMITHS!!!!!
But then…it gts even crazier..they find it hard for the pipes to filter..so they use intestines from pigs. SCIENCE! THIS DOESN’T! WHAT!???!?! GAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHH
The only redeeming part of this episode, the only thing that makes it worthwhile…is the scene with Leon and Lara.
Its this funny, but also really nice and intimate scene between them which is very well done. She sees the scars Leon has borne, and discusses on how, in such a short time, he had made such a big impact on their lives.
Its then punctuated by her family talking about it, hopeful he’ll stay, but the grandfather knowing he is a wanderer who will move on his own path someday.
From there..it goes right back into the stupid.
So, they parade around their contradiction to everything this world has established, then they hear of a monster attack, so they’re on the case to have their knight go into action.
Now..the dumbest thing..the thing that really just..blew my mind approaches. THE FUCKING STEAMPUNK MECHASUIT HAS A ROCKET PUNCH!!!
They fight the bear, and beat it, and get rewarded for their work. And then some bullcrap about how humans are great and can achieve the impossible. Because is anything shows how great humanity can be..its using machines to kill things!
In short, this episode was just..pointless and stupid. Other than the part with Leon and Lara, there was nothing gained, nothing that enriches the series by this episode’s presence. You could cut it out and lose nothing. The last episode at least felt like Garo, this was just a bunch of what the fuckery. Please show, stop trying my patience..get to the point. I want to see the good story you got. Stop wasting our time!!
Their suit surprisingly represented Leon more than Alfonso, especially that last part with half of the armor burning. XD
Well,. I guess it could be the show trying out different perspective to portray this ‘short’ (3 episodes lol) period of peace. Similarly to the two episodes about Leon and Herman’s different experiences in the same time frame in terms of viewing from different perspectives, yet differs slightly in terms of the flow of time.
It could be that I’m over-thinking it, but I still think it was better than seeing it as pointless. At least it was more interesting than filler episodes lol (which, well, introduces absolutely nothing new). And yeah, I think I like it better than a “3 month later” zipping by in 3 seconds.
