Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo Episode 13 [ Arzenal Burns ]

After a two week break we return to Ange in the ‘rescue’ of Arzenal. However as soon as the announcement is made we immediately see Jill/Alektra demand they all disregard that, and begin to attack the humans. Given that the humans are led by Julio I am not surprised in the least that he would have callously brought an entire army to storm them with. Congrats Julio, you are little more than absolute garbage! Everyone in this show probably has a redeemable aspect but you, you transparent sleezeball.

This fight is not a really easy or good one for Arzenal. Many many people are killed and the Paramail riders are captured, all except for a token few. Whose that token few? Well duh it’s Ange and her crew. Meanwhile Ange is being forced to leave under the command of Libertus and Jill, and Salia is her tool for doing this. Of course what does it mean when Ange is out of commission?

Julio shows despite his freaking hyponosis he is just generally a bad person. Who knows, Sylvia might somehow be redeemed …maybe..okay probably not…Julio is just blatantly never good. What is interesting about this episode really lies with the fact that Embryo begins to show up and really show how fucking confusing he is. PLUS ANGE NOW HAS AWESOME CONTROL OVER VILLKISS AND IT CHANGES COLORS AND DESTROYS SHIT???

But how the girl’s deal with shit before Ange is intense – basically as usual they have tendencies that make them flutter and fall away from each other. Add on that the infiltrator’s seem to be way more capable than mana users really should be against the norma, Everyone seems to go into stupid mode when Ange is far away from them, like every character is conspiring to fight enough to draw her out or get hurt enough to get saved by her. Ange goes out to fight and as she does her friends follow- but. . .then Chris is shot in the head and dies.

Likewise, Ersha sees her younger friends die and cups their bodies. Vivian has been captured and everything seems to be dissolving in front of them – only for something incredibly unexpected. Embryo finds them and brings them back to life. Holy shit.

I can’t get over this: THIS MEANS THERE IS WAY FUCKING MORE TO THIS SERIES THAN THE FIGURATIVE SHIT I THOUGHT BEFORE. IT AIN’T JUST SCIENCE THATS A THING OH MY GOD PEOPLE EMBRYO CAN ACTUALLY BRING THEM BACK TO LIFE! What if the reason we saw so many lives between Ange and the other girl is because he created every human with a power he has and consistently destroys them? What if he isn’t an all powerful god but merely is in control of something? I don’t know!

I want to know everything! I want to know how Embryo can do this. I want to see him bring stuff back to life in the past to explain the constant rise and fall of different civilizations. Is he from another world? Are all humans DRAGONs originally and the mana power is just something Embryo created that denies their true nature? I have so many freaking theories. I am seriously sitting here going, I want to know what’s going on.

Next week is supposed to be about Ange and Tusk and I get it, I like them but I don’t care. I actually am so more interested in the lore of this story. What the hell is Embryo doing, why is he evil if he’s restoring everything? Has he just been resetting the world perpetually and that’s why everyone either fears or reveres him? I honestly thought Chris was dead and I was so sad because this episode Hilda took freaking gunfire for her and Chris kind of realized ‘no, this is my friend’.

Damn you anime. Damn you to heck. I care so much about the fates of these girls and everything. Even worse is this episode introduced a new theme song and its honestly not very good because it just recycles the old footage, but the new stuff it added is so eye catching I must have it. Dragon lady! Dragon lady! Not to mention Julio’s dragon infiltrator assistant escaped in time, so we’ll probably see them too. Shit, it’s gonna be Libertus and the Dragons versus Embryo eventually, isn’t it?

    For the opening song, the answer would be that within the next 2 eps it should be updated. Kind of makes me wonder is Salia is going to go against them considering her new outfit.

    I really am liking this series. Oddly, the only issue I have with it are the obvious dips in animation this series has at times (oddly not fanservice). Like the scene in the first picture above where the girls are getting gunned down (I guess most of the budget goes to the mech fights) All-in-all still a pretty decent series for those who stuck with it.
