This episode marks the end of the Blue Dragon’s awful village. Really, these people were terrible, and even when Blue Dragon helped them escape they were all still scared of him. That’s so stupid.
Blue Dragon finds another part of the cave where it’s easier and faster to dig from, so he picks up a shovel and starts digging. Once everyone understands, everyone starts helping, even Yona. But because there isn’t much air, she gets lightheaded and Blue Dragon takes her to his “room” so she can rest. And then he bunches her up with his furry thingy.
Yona sees just how kind he is, and cries and not understanding why the villagers are so rude towards him. She really wants to help him and take him away from such a terrible environment. She regains enough strength and goes out to help dig again, and Blue Dragon ponders over her words.
Eventually, everyone makes it out. On the other side, Hak and the villagers dug from the outside. With family members stuck in there, the villagers finally spilled their secrets and also helped. Before leaving, Yona asks Blue Dragon once again if he’d like to travel with them, to which he says yes (sort of). He knows he’s better off with Yona, seeing light around her. Before leaving, Blue Dragon actually bows to the villagers. Which I find…damn, he’s too nice. They were all terrible towards him, but he was still polite enough to bow at them. Seriously, how can they be so mean to him? Well good riddance. When the bells from his mask fell, it kinda made me sad. It symbolized him leaving his past behind and starting to move forward. In a way, letting go of Ao, the only friend he had. He said he didn’t even remember what his face looked like, so that was also sad.
The rest of the episode is fun and cute. Ki-ja falls a little ill, probably from exhaustion. They turn to Blue Dragon to be their dragon radar, but he has no idea what they’re talking about, because no one has ever told him about the dragons. Ki-ja volunteers to teach him, and to call him brother…only to have Blue Dragon run away.
Blue Dragon jumps into a body of water (and the guys think he’s drowning himself because of Ki-ja lol), but he had caught a fish for Ki-ja. How sweet. But then he gets super cold because he’s all wet, and Hak’s lines throughout this part killed me.
Yun cooks, Blue Dragon is a fluff ball, and he loves his food and cute cute cute.
Yona offers him her coat in case he’s still cold, and he says thank you while also saying her first name. And it surprised everyone. Because 1, they all call her “Princess”, and 2, he actually spoke to them because he was silent the whole time. Later in the night, Yun and Yona talk and Yun apologizes to her for being so rude and harsh when they had first met. He always hated royalty, but meeting Yona he knew he was wrong. Also, he asked to call her by her first name. Cute.
When speaking with Hak, she tells him he’s the only one to call her “Princess”. She doesn’t mind it that the others call her by her name, but she wants Hak to call her “Princess”, just to remember that she and her father existed, and she still accepts who she was before. And this was such a nice moment between them.
Finding Blue Dragon in the moonlight, Yona was able to figure out a name for him. Shin-ah. It was uplifting to see him so happy. He held his arms out, running around the field. Finally being free, free to wander around, to do whatever he wants. Being stuck in that cave must have been extremely bored. He was isolated his whole life too, so to finally have a name and be outside, must be pure bliss. It was adorable when everyone was sleeping, Shin-ah woke up Ao just to tell him that he finally has a name. This guy is too sweet for this world, I can’t say this enough.
The next morning, they wake up and Yona checks up on Ki-ja to see if he’s better. But the first thing he says is that the Green Dragon is near.
Pretty sweet episode. The group is getting bigger, and certainly getting weirder. It’ll take some time, but Shin-ah will eventually open up to the group. The only one he’s comfortable to speak with is Yona, but he showed concern for Ki-ja by catching a fish and also picking at some medicinal plants at night, the same he saw Yun have. He’s just absolutely precious and I just want to hug him. Green Dragon is gonna be next, and judging by his appearance he looks like the flirty “Mmm look at me I’m better than everyone else” type of guy, because there’s always a guy like that in every harem group. And then I’m gonna guess that Yellow Dragon is gonna be the cute energetic loud one, because the blondes are always that type.
Next episode is gonna be a Soo-won one, so we’ll finally get a look at what this jerk is doing.
Personally the moment when Yona asks Hak to keep calling her “Princess” kind of made me sad. I’m probably misconstruing it, but to me it felt like him calling her Princess will keep some distance between them, while him calling her Yona would have made them a little closer. Her reason is completely valid, of course, and in a way I guess Hak is closer to her because he’s the only one who knew her as a princess, but it still makes me kind of sad. :c
Shin-Ah is the cutest baby. >__< And like you guessed, the Green Dragon is really flirty. Oh, he's wonderful. He's my favorite of the four dragons!
(Also as a side note, I'm so glad you're spelling the characters' names correctly! The subbed version I watched spelled Kija's name as 'Gija' and Shin-Ah's name as 'Sinha (which is actually an Indian surname),' and it was driving me crazy! Dx
Yona needs Hak to keep calling her “Princess.” She needs that memory, that connection to who she was. She’s lost too much. He is the only thing left from her life before. She needs him to provide her with stability.
I think the scene between Yona and Hak is even more intimate because it shows she wants him and only him to remember her father and how their lives were before everything went shit. Its almost like that dreadful hairpin she keeps it around not because she still loves Su-Won, but because she cannot let go of all the happy times all 3 of them shared together when they were children. How do you reconcile those happy memories with the present reality? Especially like anybody people want to reminisce about the good old days, but Hak and Yona cannot even do that. Its a tough call.
Oh Shin-ah is too precious for this world and to see him express his kindness quietly (catching a fish for ki-ja and collecting herbs for Yun) makes my heart go mush.
As for next week interestingly enough that arc is supposed to come after the green dragon arc. But it makes sense why they are doing it there is not a lot of episodes left so they want to get that arc out of the way.
Also i love how much meaning Shin-ah name has and its a beautiful way to tell him he is free to create his own identity with his name on his own terms.
