YUUYA YOU IDIOT! SEE, I FUCKING CALLED IT. I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, GOD DAMNIT YUUYA, EARLIER YOU SAID THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING BIGGER GOING ON, BUT NOPE THAT SEEMS TO BE ALL FORGOTTEN WHEN HE DECIDES TO SIDE UP WITH SORA AND IN FIGHT IN HIS PLACE. JUST, ARGGGGGG!!! DUDE, THE NUMBER ONE RULE WHEN DEALING AS THE THIRD WHEEL OF TWO OPPOSITIONS IS TO OBSERVE AND COLLECT INTEL BEFORE JUMPING SHIPS, OTHERWISE THEY’LL THINK YOU’RE WORKING WITH THE ENEMY!!!!!!

And what did Yuuya do?

NOW FIGHT ME!

*HEADESKS*
Where is Yuzu when we need her most?

Man, aside from Yuuya’s stupidity, this episode was a major information dump. Yuuya has finally caught up with the plot, but his bias of his “friendship” with Sora is clouding his vision. Instead of jumping into the middle of the fight as the middle-man, (which honestly- is something I more or less expect out of Yuuya) he immediately jumps to Sora’s aid. This is probably the stupidest decision Yuuya has ever made, and he is going to end up facing the unexpected grave consequences that follows. Judging what was shown in the preview, it indicates the possibility that both Yuuto’s and Yuuya’s existence is on the line. This is where dots start to connect with the hint within the second ED Theme. There is a short sequence of Yuuto and Yuuya merging together and then exploding into particles. As the general rules of characters traveling in parallel worlds/alternative universe, they must never face themselves, otherwise shit happens. The situation Yuuto and Yuuya will most likely be facing is/or something similar to Temporal Paradox. This brings me to consider once more, whether or not Yuzu’s bracelet is supposed to be as some sort of fail-safe, serving to protect both Yuuya and Yuuto by keeping them separated- but we will probably learn more about that possibility next week.

It turns out that it was Yuuto was the one who confronted Sora (not the other way around). He wasn’t there to pick a fight, but to question Sora about Ruri’s whereabouts. Of course Sora could care less about him and kept on demanding to be brought to Shun so that he could destroy him with his true abilities while droppings malicious taunts about their precious comrades’ fates. It makes it clear that this isn’t a dual personality issue Sora has, he is legitimately a nasty kid, and at points will turn into a fucking psychopath. It is he who purses Yuuto, in hopes he would find Shun, but in the end after exclaiming that the only way Shun and Yuuto could rescue their comrades is to destroy their organization.

What we know about the LDS/LDC victims and the Resistance’s fallen comrades is that they are both trapped in cards. Now this is quite a popular tactic that has been used on occasions in the past series, such as in the original series: Duel Monsters, where the victims souls are trapped within cards (Soul Prison) or sent to the Shadow Realm if one lost the Shadow Games. With how Sora describes both Ruri’s and many others’ fates, it certainly sounds as if they have been sent to the Shadow Realm. There is a possibility that they are facing something similar to that, and perhaps that would also explain the reason why Shun and Yuuto have possibility jumping through dimensions/parallel worlds, something that was also done in GX too (for similar reasons) – but let’s not hold our breath for that just yet.

One of the biggest factors of their duel was the fact both parties were dealing real life damage. From being smashed into a wall to being blown around. This is a dangerous duel and someone could very well get seriously injured or worse, killed if participating in the duel or caught in the crossfire. What it also brings is the severity and reality of how Heartland City became the city in ruins it is today. Another point I wanted to address was what we learned about Sora’s injuries on the solid vision stage. It was reported as superficial injury, and how it could have been worse had the clock tower fallen on him before the solid vision dissipated. It definitely raises the stakes as well as creates more potential injuries to take place on the stage. With Reiji trying to keep his mission under wraps, it makes me question just how smoothly this process of recruiting will be and what other dangers may arise during the tournament that has only just begun.

Speaking of the devil, it was no surprise to see that Reiji wanted to have the opportunity to question Sora and inspect his duel disk. With the modern day duel disk, I think it is safe to assume that Reiji was hoping to search for clues of contacts, or notes of assignments to help better prepare for his operation. That being said, I am can’t find it in me to completely trust Reiji yet.

It was quiet ironic that the one character who voiced most of our thoughts was Gongenzaka. I applauded him when he asked the big questions such as, “Do you even know where Sora is from?” In fact, this is crucial piece of information because as Yuuya has pointed out, every time they have asked, Sora would dodge the question. That is why I am so baffled at Yuuya’s reckless decision. Here are what he knows: They don’t know shit about Sora, he is presumably part of the (Academia) organization that have kidnapped/captured Shun’s sister Ruri and many of his comrades, and they are out to hunt and destroy the XYZ duelists. Now if that doesn’t scream SHADY, I don’t know what does. On top of that, Yuzu even explained to him both Shun’s and Yuuto’s motive, and IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH, YUUYA WAS FUCKING STANDING THERE WHEN YUUTO SAID THAT HE IS WILLING TO BE MERCIFUL ONLY TO BE SHUTDOWN BY SHADY SHIT SORA WHO WANTS TO BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF HIM (UM HELLO, YUUYA DO YOU KNOW HEAR THIS?) BUT NO, THAT COMPLETELY FLIES HIS HEAD.

So to sum it up: It was a very frustrating way to end the episode. THANK GOD this wasn’t last week’s episode, I don’t think any of us would have been able to handle waiting an extra week with this cliffhanger! I was hoping that Yuuto was going to defeat Sora, which he was very much on track doing until Yuuya jumped into the fray. It was great to watch Sora realize just much trouble he was in, and realizing that Yuuto was holding back. It only makes me even more excited of seeing Yuuto’s true strength.

NOW HURRY UP YUZU! YOUR HUSBUNDO NEEDS YOU!!!!

PS: Before I wrap it up, there is one more thing I would like to share. Today was the day I truly recognized of the depth and the story behind the characters’ deck. Yuuya’s Entermates was obvious from the get go, it represents his desire and dream to be an entertainer, to put on a good show for the audience to enjoy. Today it was revealed that Yuuto’s Phantom Knights represents his comrades resilience, both those who have fallen and those who are still fighting. Shun’s Raid Raptors represent his role as a fighter on the front lines willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish his missions. Sora’s deck, well that can be debated, but I like to interpret it as showcasing his true colors, acts adorable on the surface but a twisted individual at the core. And Yuzu… I haven’t quite figured her theme and meaning just yet.

Okeeey, if I compare Yuya’ action with YGO past writing I think I might understand Yuya’s point? >_>
The YGO protagonists tend to be very forgiving and care more about bonds than whatever the crap they said and done, Yuya’s case isn’t even the worst, seriously, let’s say I saw a certain character in Zexal be betrayed by someone and that said someone was responsible for killing his friends on a past life and almost kill his other friends now as well as fucking almost everyone’s life and he still choose to trust, so really, Yuya is pretty tame compared to that.
The problem with the Sora equation is:
    1) Sora can be a annoying tweerp sometimes, but he stuck with Yuya and co. for weeks if not months, so to some degree Yuya knows him. He wouldn’t just throw these days away like it didn’t happen.
    2) Sora was a creppy fucker, but it is all talk. None of what he did affect Yuya directly and Yuya didn’t see him doing much besides on Shun vs Sora’s duel, and then he wasn’t the one doing the most damage to the arena and he sure wasn’t there when Sora used real damage on Yuto, so far Sora was the one receiving the beating from the edgebros.
Now, Yuya was pretty neutral and wanted just to end the duel between Yuto and Sora and I don’t doubt he would like to question Sora for a lot of things. Yuya only got angry after he saw Shun in Yuto.
Shun got a very very bad impression on him, first Yuya saw Shun attacking LDS innocent members for no reason, so he got with the image stuck that he’s dangerous, second, Shun, as much as he is my favorite character he’s the biggest asshole ever, heck, even to Yuto he’s an asshole which doesn’t help matters, third, Shun was the one nuking everything on the arena, he bomb carpeted everything and dropped a building on Sora which caused injures while he remained unscratched.
Yuya got suspicious of that movement Shun did when he loomed over Sora, and while he wasn’t awake to see Shun card people on that one occasion he supposed that what he was going to do was something very bad(which is) and Yuto is his comrade, so to him was 1+1=2.
Yuzu did explain the thing with the edge bros, their motives and why they did what they did, but the problem was also that they are aware that Yuya got framed because of Yuto and it almost cost them You Show Duel School if Shun didn’t attack someone, so in a personal level, the edge bros fucked more his life than Sora ever did(which was nothing as far as real witness go).
Sorry for the long rant, just wanted to expose what I thought about this, at least to me, Yuya had a lot of bad experiences to them and associated them as very dangerous people, so no wonder he’s on guard.
    Now, back to the episode:
Yeah, I saw the preview and I found weird how they were clutching their chest like that, maybe they are psychic linked, and if one does damage to the other, he would feel the same or something, the “Resonating Dragons” got me suspicious, this episode might explain what shit could go down without Yuzu + bracelet, so I’m pretty interested on it as well as a character we didn’t see since a lot of episodes ago reappear, so be sure to re-watch episode 18 in case you forgot who is this person.
I’m getting more and more doubts about Ruri’s fate here, after all the mind wiping, the camera focusing on Yuzu’s face in ep 34 when Shun said that he would take his comrades back and Sora saying that he believed Ruri got carded makes me think that they just want to make the Edgebros more desperate to defeat everyone and BAM, Ruri being brainwashed to fight them just to add insult to injury(which I hope to see, I want more badass ladies thank you so much arc V).
People are also wondering if they are carding everyone to do something similar to Haou Judai(Golden eyes-Sociopath-Judai) and use them to empower something, so I think it’s a valid theory too, wonder if they are trying to make a Super Polymerization as it was considered a “pretty powerful” card in anime land at least.
LOLOLOLOL, loling forever with the “Hurry up Yuzu, your husband needs you!” XD, which husband? Yuya or Ut– I mean, Yuto? 8D
So far, Yuzu’s deck is an entertainment deck, it’s associated with gracious divas and music, but reflecting in her personality…. Hum… When she summoned Bloom Diva there was a kickass heroic soundtrack playing and her other ace, Schuberta, is a Fusion Killer, so people are theorizing that if she gets cards for others summoning methods it will be anti-summoning method as well.
We didn’t get a lot of duels from her, but if I have to guess, I think Yuzu’s style in similar in a way to the edgebros, if she can’t do “X” she can do “Y”, by the other cards that were dropped on the floor in episode 21(I think it’s 21) her deck looked very defensive and Sora did point that she learned to counter a Fusion duelist by learning Fusion herself, so I got the impression that she’s the kind to be on defense and observe her opponent’s play and then learn how to counter and beat the crap of her opponents.

Nah it’s fine, you pointed out a lot of key points so it reduces my frustration Yuuya’s actions. XD
And gosh you’re right, Shun is such an asshole. XD

//I’m getting more and more doubts about Ruri’s fate here, after all the mind wiping, the camera focusing on Yuzu’s face in ep 34 when Shun said that he would take his comrades back and Sora saying that he believed Ruri got carded makes me think that they just want to make the Edgebros more desperate to defeat everyone and BAM, Ruri being brainwashed to fight them just to add insult to injury(which I hope to see, I want more badass ladies thank you so much arc V).//

I would actually prefer that way more than trapped the cards/some other realm thing. More angst = More Fun and more ladies kicking ass the better. = v =

Wow that is some seriously messed up stuff.

by character who didn’t reappear from episode 18 he mean the one you seen in the yuto flashback also i agree with him since yuto and yuya here he might show up in person.

I know it’s the D-Wheelist. XD And in fact, last night, I accidentally ran into some major spoilers about him while looking up details for Crossover Souls!!! Really, I seriously should have known better. Knowing the titles are based off the events of Arc-V, so Crossover Souls should’ve been a red flag for potential spoilers… but hey, at least it only makes me more excited for the big reveal. LMAO.
PS: Also the guys’s dragon is freaking badass, I will be looking forward to their debut!

So far, I think Yuzu’s deck shows off versatility and adaptability, ways for her to take advantage of opportunities as she comes across them (like setting that trap with the assumption that Masumi would use Fusion). I find the elements from the Fusion she learned from Sora interesting though.. they mostly take advantage of the opponent, banishing cards or taking control of the opponent’s cards. Sort of the opposite of what Shun finds important in his deck.
