You know, at first I felt kind of bad that I missed posting last week’s episode of Tribe Cool Crew. And then I saw it. And then I wasn’t. Why you may ask? Well because BOTH of these episodes are filler. Yep, so the answer to the obvious question of  “Did we miss anything?” the answer is a resounding, NO. But, I suppose we should go over what DID happen, so….why not.

Episode 9 starts up with Kanon letting everyone know that her school festival is coming up and she wants all of them to come. Apparently the school she goes to is very famous and a prestigious all girls school.

And apparently all the girls who attend are from Haibane Renmei. Who knew?

However, all is not well as Kanon’s friend, without thinking, enters her in the school festival dance competition. Because that’s the way these things go.

If persona 4 has taught me anything is that it's totally cool and acceptable to sign your friends up for things without asking and they have to do it.

Of course though Kanon is nervous and doesn’t want to do it. However when she goes to try to back out of it, she’s greeted by a bunch of girls who noticed her from the dance competition and start telling her how awesome she is.

That’s when the school guidance counselor shows up, causing her to run away.

I just realized children...i'm very short.
I just realized children…i’m very short.

She runs back to the gang and tells them the story. They tell her that she should just dance, Haneru telling her that she should imagine the audience as snack food to help her calm down.

Finally it’s the day of the festival and the gang shows up in spiffy duds.

I..I mean.. I GUESS they're spiffy duds?
I..I mean.. I GUESS they’re spiffy duds? Also without your hat, your hair is FREAKY.

Kanon is about to dance, but begins to freak out. However after she remembers what Haneru tells her, she dances just fine.

Gah! That does NOT look comforting. That looks like a witch's lair from Madoka or something.
Gah! That does NOT look comforting. That looks like a witch’s lair from Madoka or something.

That’s basically the end of episode 9.

Episode 10 picks up with the gang about to practice when a girl pops out of nowhere declaring that she’s Yuzur’s fiance.

Honestly, I think they're adorable together.
Honestly, I think they’re adorable together.

He explains that they’ve been friends forever and that when they were children their parents promised them to one another.

Oh, but I have to show you tiny kid Yuzuru.

D'aw he's so cute!
D’aw he’s so cute!

The gang starts to question her (her name is Momiji btw) and she starts to trash talk the group telling them that they’re going to get married in a few days. Yuzuru basically drags her away from the confrontation and that’s the last they see of Yuzuru for 4 days.

Eventually they get a text explaining where he is and go to find him.

Yeah...Yeah..Japanese cars really ARE that small.
Yeah…Yeah..Japanese cars really ARE that small.

They arrive at a mountain where they find Momiji who tells them to go away and that he’s going to be with her. However, after  bit of prodding, Momiji breaks down and she confesses that he’s been miserable this whole time and it’s breaking her heart.

Aww.... I really DO like Momiji
Aww…. I really DO like Momiji

As they’re about to leave, Yuzuru tells them that he wants to make a dinner. They agree to stay but then says he also wants to put on a show. The group dances for Momiji and her Grandpa and Momiji finally understands what dancing means to Yuzuru.

Not...sure what the bugs are for but YEAH!
Not…sure what the bugs are for but YEAH!

We also find out that there was really no marriage arrangement and that Momiji misunderstood. However Momiji is going to keep trying to win Yuzuru over. And that’s basically where the episode ends. Some other stupid stuff happened with Haneru but it’s not worth mentioning.

So yeah. There you go. That’s 2 weeks of content. Or…lack thereof. Honestly, if there had to be 2 weeks that got combined, I’m GLAD it was this week. So little happened and it actually did have NOTHING to do with the overall story of Dance Road. These two were filler, plain and simple. I don’t know why they felt the need to do so, but it really slowed the pace for me. Luckily, I saw the preview for next episode and they ARE going to Dance Road, so, there’s that at least.

The only thing I can say that I liked out of these episodes is Momiji. I honestly think she’s adorable, then again, I have a thing for these kinds of character. IF THEY’RE DONE RIGHT. And to me, I found her adorable. Normally these kinds of girls are stuck on the bishonen pretty boys, but this chick’s like “NOPE! I LOVE YUZURU! YEP, THE FAT GUY!” And I really liked that. It was a nice inversion of the trope. You can tell she really does love him, even though it might be slightly misguided.

I don’t know. I find something very endearing about quirky, fun, energetic characters who throw their love at someone, not caring about stupid things like angst or bullshit like that. These are the kinds of characters that should be in more shows. It would make these bullshit harem shows like… 5 seconds long.

And you know what? If that was the length of Love Hina? I’d be okay with that.

Regardless, while the two episodes in general were BOTH quite unnecessary, I like Yuzuru so at least the second one kept me mildly entertained. I do see what they’re trying to do, they’re trying to expand the world and the characters, but at this point in the game….I..I just don’t care enough. (except for Momiji) I just want to see if they make it to dance road. Come on guys! You can do it!

But seriously guys, that’s enough of the filler eps. Let’s do Dance Road. You don’t have too many episodes left. Better get a move on!

Episode 9: 5/10

Episode 10: 6/10
