You know there are times you’re watching an anime and it makes you think deeply, some times you watch and it makes you cry. Sometimes you watch a guy slaughter an entire office of guys from the Yakuza and think to yourself “Somehow, this is still more tasteful then Psycho-Pass season 2.”

A majority of the first part of the episode was this random parasite walking into a Yakuza hideout, killing the hell out of them and managing the gore on a very respectable level. I don’t get it, how does this show manage this?

Oh well, whatever. He slaughters all these people and steals the look of a bystander and moves on. Next thing we cut to is Kana, having a dream about getting attacked and then saved by Shinichi riding in like some kind of white knight.

I swear I didn’t have to pause to laugh for a couple of minutes. Okay, I did. To be fair this scene is so over the top rediculous it’s painful. She gets out of bed and goes to meet with Shinichi, as she goes to meet with him she decides to do that thing from last time where you yank someone’s hair.

vlcsnap-2014-12-10-18h52m36s86

He stops her and tells her doing it without warning could be dangerous. However he allows her to pull on it, she yanks out a strand and it doesn’t move or anything. She then wraps it up in a handkerchief and keeps it….

CREEPY STALKER LEVELS ALERT, STALKER LEVEL ALERT. YOU HAVE CROSSED A LINE. Following him around, thinking you have some strange psychic connection to him. Sure, I’ll let all of that slide. Strange dreams about him saving you from Monsters, getting a little weird but whatever….keeping a strand of his hair.
Lady, you have issues. severe, issues that you should get checked as soon as you can.

So after Shinichi leaves to talk to Migi, Murano runs into Kana and they start to talk. Murano, watch out, she’s already reached the keeping hair level of stalker. She might be at the threaten the girlfriend level soon!
They talk breifly about if Shinichi has changed at all or not and the scene moves on without much incedent. Good, she hasn’t reached the super stalker levels yet.

vlcsnap-2014-12-10-18h52m59s53

After that it’s date time with Shinichi and Murano. It’s cute, it’s fun, it’s nothing plot shattering but it’s a nice part of the episode. The only part of their date that really stands out is when he gets flashbacks of his mother and his chest hurts.

vlcsnap-2014-12-10-15h29m28s242

And then they kiss. Soon Migi, we’ll get to see that Human intercourse.

Of course, Kana sees them kiss and calls Shinichi out to meet with her. As he reaches the appointed meeting place Migi says that he senses many of his kind. Eight of them, and where do we find them? Trying to become Mayor….

Parasites in politics. This, this opens itself up to so many jokes I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Like what joke do I start with? I could literally sit here for the rest of the review wisecracking parasitic politician jokes and have a larger word count then any of my reviews to date.
The definition of a parasite is “An organism that spends a significant portion of it’s life in or on the living tissue of a host organism and which causes harm to the host without killing it.” just think about this could be applied to politics and the comedy routine writes itself.

Instead i’ll just say that Kana shows up and things are tense, the episode ends without a ton of things happening but the set up for a lot in the next episode. Other then the set up and the progression of the romance between Shinichi and Murano this episode is fairly slow. Not bad, just slow.
Also, Kana, cool your hormones…seriously…

    Omg, that dream 😀
But I totally agree on what you also said last episode, about how this anime manages the “gore”/violence.

Some animes really go overboard, and seem to dwell in its gore, they “glorify” it, make it as fanservice (and thats fine, there are people who like that.), but this anime just gets it. It seems they don’t put in the violence to shock you or to statisfy viewers. It feels like it is just a normal thing that happens when you kill people, it would seem weird if there was no blood. If you know what I mean 😀 This also further makes us feel that the gore is there for a deeper emotinal development/reason.
And I appreciate this very much. It’s not just gore for gores sake.

I also find it interesting what the parasites political goal seems to be. I guess that are the same parasytes as the one who “tested” their skills against the mafia?
On one hand, it seems logical that they want to live in harmony with the nature (and probably the humans I would guess), on the other hand from the “test” I would have rather assumed, that they try to get into politics however possible, and then change the world. But then they could have just stolen the identity of a big politican.
So what does it tell us? Maybe they want to give the humans a chance, before trying harsher methods? Maybe they first want to see how open humans are to the idea of living in harmony with them (/nature).
Because, in the end they have no chance of staying hidden as politicans, with the hair pulling and such. Very interesting, definitly the best anime of the season.

And thanks for the thoughtfull reviews!

Read your review both before and after I watched the episode. You’re totally right about the yakuza slaughter being more tasteful than PP2. xD

I honestly don’t understand why Kana has such a huge crush on Shinichi. He’s run into her a few times, sure, but they barely know each other and she already wants to achieve girlfriend status. Doesn’t make sense to me. I also feel like the Shinichi x Murano ship is a little forced, but that may just be me.

Oh and like Lichtbringer said, thanks as always for your thoughtful reviews! 🙂
