Gosh, I didn’t except this episode to be so awesome! It was SO satisfying to watch! Up until this point, I honestly didn’t care too much for Gongenzaka, but today he completely won me over. HE WAS SO COOL AND BADASSS, GOD IT WAS EPIC TO WATCH! He took on 3500 ATK Damage like a BOSS (STEADFAST DUELING FTW!) and oh my gosh, that moment when he banished Superheavy Samurai Glo-V from his graveyard, and with his hand swiped the monster, that was just so sick to watch.
Right off the bat, we knew that Gongenzaka already had this duel in the bag. We knew right away that he was more than capable of defeating that cowardly bully, there was no way in HELL we were going to accept that prick winning against Gongenzaka. He struggled earlier on because he was letting Anokuji get into his head, causing him to waver and not do what he does best. Steadfast dueling requires him to be solid and focused, and once he was able to get into that zone he quickly turned the tables and won the duel.
It was both fun and good to see Yuuya stick to his usual style, and charm the thugs over with his entertainment dueling. What I think is special though about Yuuya’s and Gongenzaka’s relationship is that they are like brothers. Gongenzaka has always been looking out for Yuuya and now it is Yuuya’s turn to do the same. Though it was a trick, Yuuya knew the importance of Gongenzaka’s sash and wanted to make sure that he had it for his duel despite the fact his own match was going to start soon. Because of this, Gongenzaka had to be reminded by Yuzu that Yuuya can take care of himself and remember to believe in him. That’s why when Yuzu heard that Yuuya was lured out, she could have very well left the match to check up on Yuuya, but she didn’t because she had faith in him that he’d be back before the end of the duel.
But you know what is funny about this duel? In reality, it was actually very short. Typically I tend to forget or not pay attention to how many turns goes by, but today I couldn’t help but notice it. Take out the dramatic dialogue and the match would have probably been only a ten minutes or maybe even less.
NEXT WEEK: OH MY GOD SAWATARI WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?! I saw fanart of him in this new outfit last week on Pixiv (though it’s only for temporary introduction sakes) and I wondered how that came to be. Well now I know. Sawatari is no longer (or so he proclaims himself to be) the man he was, and identifies himself as NEO NEW SAWATARI (can’t tell if that was a translation error or he actually means NEW NEW!, but we will find out next week). With Sawatari’s ego and his proclamation of being “Neo New” I fully expect this episode to provide some laughter because he is bound to so something stupid. However it appears that Yuuya might be struggling a bit, which I more or less suspect since his is still growing and Sawatari will be using his own strategy rather than following Reiji’s instruction like last time. I am curious however to see whether or not Yuuya’s duel will be wrapped up within one episode. I suppose it depends on its importance as they tend to avoid dragging on duels that doesn’t move the plot forward.

Before I start I want to apologize for what I said in my last comment, aparently the pic I saw was a fake made by a Uber skilled japanese person, so sadly what I thought it would happen wouldn’t help(but still recommend season 3 because it’s insane)
I will be honest, this duel wasn’t bad, but it didn’t flare me as much as his first duel, maybe because I’m still hyped because of Yuzu’s epic duel, and because part of it shafted to Yuya and because the duel was short.
The good points was the tuner that can Synchro with opponent’s Machine monster, Gongenzaka standing his monster’s attack and he karate chopping the monster’s blade.
I’m not looking that foward for Yuya’s duel because I heard it will be a 2-part and Shun vs Sora will be right after this, so it will be hard to care about this duel as Sora x Shun is so HYPE >_>
… Yuya need to up his ge and show variety on his strategy like what he didd in his vs Gongenzaka duel or else he will be outshined by everyone in the cast.(Or meet Ruri, then I will be hyped)
LOL Oh well that’s too bad. I went ahead and did a cram on GX, yeah the 3rd season is way better, also RAINBOW DRAGON FTW. XD (Because, DRAGONSSSSS). Also it made me feel better than I had watched it when I picked up a pack of Stardust Overdrive and got Ra Yellow Mega Pack with it and had some of my favourite monsters in there. Heheheheheheheheehheh/regret nothing
Yeah it is hard to hype up for Yuuya’s duel, and if it is going to be dragged out for episodes like you said, then yeah that is going to be a downer. :\ Not that we don’t love Yuuya, but SHUN VS SORA!!!!!!!!
Once Yuuya finds his inner voice within the Pendalum Summon and its evolution, he will get his chance to shine. One of the things I do hope for Yuuya is that he will learn several different summoning techniques and apply it to Pendulum Summon like he had with Fusion Summon. That would be pretty awesome, but I somewhat doubt they will go down that path if they want to keep Reiji’s ability to do all the Summoning Techniques unique (but then again, I am also suspecting that in the future, an enemy in the future will be able to do that too.)
Yeah, I wish the magazine with the summaries for the next episodes was already out, because rumors about Shun vs Sora is driving everyone insane as they say it’s heavier on plot than we thought.
By the Way, what do you think will be Shun’s reaction to Yuzu cheering on Sora? XD, specially when he Fusion Summon?
Yuzu got insanely popular, I don’t think even when 5d aired there was so much Hype for a female character, I go on topics and people talks non-stop about her even if it has been a week and half since her last episode, makes me pretty happy considering it’s YGO.
ALL ABOARD THE SHUN VS SORA HYPE TRAIN~
Hm… Honestly I think Yuzu will be pretty quiet during their duel. She knows both Shun and Yuuto better than the others do and will probably be observing the duel closely in hopes to learn more about Shun.
And again, I just hope they don’t put Yuzu on the bench like they had done with the other girls. I sincerely hope her popularity will encourage them to keep her as key character as someone will be contributing to vital battles and winning some of them. It had really upset me when Aki was put onto the bench as soon as Crow came into the picture (not that I hate Crow for it, he is a sweet character) and how they degraded Carly’s character to another one of Jack’s Cheerleaders :(. It made me happy that Aki was able to learn how to drive a D-Wheel, but it sadden me that we only got to see her contribute to the team during the tournament once or maybe twice (can’t remember) before she wounded up in that crash and being hospitalized for a bunch of episodes. 🙁
