Oh boy! time for more adventures of Wet Blanket and Duckface? (haha. that sounds like really bad superhero team the more I think of it.)
So let’s get back to our heroes. What the hell were they up to again? Oh yeah, last episode Wet blanket got chewed out by the top brass because he used his trigger outside of training. Because apparently the bosses have nothing better to do.
So now he’s under the care of this Jin guy who has some strange side effect powers. He follows wet blanket as he knows that if he walks with him he’ll meet up with someone who knows what’s going on. Sure enough he meets duckface and IMMEDIATELY figures out he’s a neighbor.
but it’s okay. He doesn’t want to fight, he knows that some neighbors are good.
So wait a second. He knows that some are good, but the scarred guy who runs the place doesn’t? Or is he just a douche who hates Neighbors in general because they taped over his favorite episode of the Gilmore Girls? Either way…Considering he knows this and seems to be the only one who can get shit done…Why isn’t THIS guy in charge?
Either way, we then discover that the reason the portal opened last episode is because these robot bug things are around the city collecting trion energy from random civilians.
When it has enough power, they open a portal to let more neighbor robots in.
Hearing this, Jin gathers all the Border patrol people and they go on an extensive hunt to find all of these things before another portal can open.
They manage to defeat all of them and Jin and Duckface tell Wet blanket that he should take the credit. Not only so they can keep Duckface’s identity secret but because Jin thinks it will let Wet blanket get a promotion and be able to be a B rank.
It was at this point, to my complete and utter bafflement, that the opening credits began.
That’s right. 12 minutes into the episode the opening credits start. I was sitting there going, Um..what? What is this? The remake of Friday the 13th? If you wait that long guys, just forego the opening. It’s too late.
So when we come back from that we see that the little girl we saw from before sees duckface and begins to talk to him as he’s having trouble learning how to ride a bike.
the girl eventually runs away though and goes into the forbidden part of the city when she hears that a neighbor is approaching.
When the neighbor appears wet blanket shows up, all decked out in Rank B garb.
Wait a second, wait a second. You mean he got PROMOTED OFFSCREEN? The last we heard of it was Jin saying “oh, you might just get promoted” and now he just kind of is? Um…that’s something I actually kind of wanted to see onscreen. So um…thanks show. you dick.
And then to my complete and utter surprise, Wet blanket actually beats the Neighbor pretty handily. BY HIMSELF. I gotta say…was pretty shocked by that. (golf claps) good job wet blanket.
Then wet blanket tells her the reason why he wanted the girl and duckface to meet in the first place, and that’s because he’s pretty sure that the girl attracts neighbors.
And that’s where the episode ends.
So I have to say, i’m happy that stuff actually HAPPENED in this episode. I mean granted it’s not the greatest story ever told, but it’s actually starting to go SOMEWHERE. I’m actually starting to care even if it’s just slightly.
I gotta say, I am getting kind of bored of the whole “people in the boardroom suck” thing. How come these people can’t ever be good. Why do they always have to be jerks and dicks? Also I didn’t see any women in that boardroom. Sexist jerks.
Either way, Jin is okay. I think they’re trying a little TOO hard to have us like him, but i’ve seen far more annoying characters in my time.
I’m not sure what they’re trying to do with this girl, but they haven’t given me enough to go on other then…she attracts neighbors. Hopefully next episode will clear this up.
All in all, good episode, better than it’s been, but still not FANTASTIC.
Episode 6.5/10
Oh, and of course since it’s my week the Duck face counter is back.
