So wow. This episode was definitely a 180 from the last one. For one thing, stuff actually happened! hooray! But WHAT happened is the question.

So the episode picks up where the last one left off. The art director quit for episode 8 of Exodus. the reason for for this is because the director decided that he thought that CGI looked cooler and decided not to go with key animation. This pissed off endou (the art director) and caused him to leave. This however all happened as the mohawk dude (forgot his name) played the back and forth game with both of them.

You go tell that 3d guy that his momma sucks cock
You go tell that 3d guy that his momma sucks cock

Not knowing where to turn, he goes to Aoi, who, uncharacteristically is a giant bitch to him. And, I know he can be annoying, but she’s really unnecessarily cruel to him. And she loses points with me for this. (p.s. if you don’t agree, I do not care.)

Wahhhhhhh
Wahhhhhhh

Meanwhile on the side story, this is actually pretty funny, they realize that the director hasn’t finished the storyboarding for the final episode of the series due to laziness, so they decided to lock him in a cage until he finishes. Okay, that’s pretty funny.

Oh no! I have to go write ANIME! My life is so hard!

Towards the end, Endou has a conversation with his other hand drawn art buddies talking about how 3d sucks and one of his other buddies basically tells him how he’s going to have to work side by side with them or die out.

The episode basically ends with aoi finding out that episode nine is now in jeopardy because since the explosions in episode 8 were a lead in to episode 9, nobody told the animator from episode 9 that they were doing it in 3d so now they’re stuck with all these frames and don’t know what to do. End of episode.

So, okay. This episode had some funny and interesting stuff in it. We learn, for example that the director was actually pretty well respected before the Jiggly Jiggly Heaven debacle.

Seen above...yeah it's pretty obvious what's seen above
Seen above…yeah it’s pretty obvious what’s seen above

But since then has lost all self confidence and has only recently come back to the anime field due to his shame on it.

I also learned something else. That Aoi can be a raging bitch. And look, I know people are going to disagree with me here. I know that the dude was being a bit tactless and he wasn’t as professional as he should have. But he was doing his job and owning up to his mistakes and he wanted to fix them on his own. It isn’t his fault that the 3d animator and the 2d animator were going back and forth because they’re childish and the director is an indecisive asshole.

When he goes to Aoi for help she basically blows him off or saying “I’m going to tell the boss.” That’s not fun. That’s annoying. I want to see him or the two of them work out the issue. I don’t want her to be a bitch and prolong this by not helping him. It just makes the problem longer and just makes me dislike Aoi as a person. When someone’s in trouble, you help them. End of story.

Sorry bitch. Nope, you lost points.
Sorry bitch. Nope, you lost points.

And also. as i said before. If you disagree, I do not want a dissertation on why you don’t agree. You don’t agree? fantastic. I don’t care. I lost respect for her and that really is all there is too it.

Bitch aside, this was a better episode. Then again, what the fuck did I have to compare it to from last episode? Fucking shoe shopping? Regardless, a step in the right direction. and maybe, just maybe, Aoi can not be a bitch.

Maybe.

And now, for absolutely no reason, here's an egg with a ketchup anime face on it. Because why not?

Hahah personally I’m still on Aoi’s side! I see what you’re saying, but Takanashi is so irresponsible! Hahah while Endou and the 3-D guy were definitely very immature, Takanishi added unnecessary comments like “I think Endou-san is hating on 3-D in general” and “well, this is the age of 3-D, right?” I think those remarks made things even worse. Endou-san quit after hearing Takanishi’s comments! Aoi was definitely hard on him, but I think he kinda deserved it in this episode. Maybe not in the last episode though, when she kept hanging up on him. (Although if he was really desperate, he should’ve called repeatedly..)

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Aoi became a hate-worthy bitch for me in this episode, but I do think she was being needlessly difficult considering it involved work. If she wants to snap at Tarou, fine, but can’t we wait until after things are fixed? His problem wasn’t caused by laziness or irresponsibility- just a lack of communication skills. The poor guy didn’t even know there WAS a problem until it was nearly too late. Seems to me that Aoi finally got fed up with his annoying personality and just decided to blow up on him, but there’s a time for everything and a Tarou in every workplace. She needs to learn how to cope with him if she wants to keep her sanity…and maybe her job. The fact that something in episode 8 might effect episode 9 was painfully obvious and she should have see it coming.

The director side-story was probably my favorite part in the end. It’s hilarious, seeing those two interact.

I’m on Aoi’s side too. Tarou isn’t even TRYING to fix things up. He failed at HIS JOB to properly convey the director’s + CG guy’s messages & even after Endou leaves, all he did was to try to guilt trip Aoi into helping him. This was just after the episode 4 incident where the same thing happened just because he didn’t want to report things until it was too late. Something as serious as this should have been reported to the superiors/resolved asap. But of course he doesn’t. When things finally get desperate, his solution is to find a REPLACEMENT for Endou. Like what the………?

I mean… Aoi COULD have been a good sport & sucked it up. But you know that Tarou is never going to learn & she will always have to clean up after him.
This guy is just thoroughly incompetent at his OWN JOB. He doesn’t need Aoi to help him. He should be fired.

It’s interesting to read your interpretation and take on the episode, since I’m on Aoi’s side as well and didn’t even consider trying to see it from Tarou’s perspective. I still agree with most of the comments, but think you’re also right that Aoi could have tried to help Tarou a bit more. However, please don’t say you don’t care about your readers’ opinions on the issue! It’s always good to see things from a different perspective, and to hear people out.
