Okay, I can hold the fan girl in…I can do it. I can totally hold it in…..NO I CAN’T, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY. AAAAHHHH. I mean, this is Magic Kaito, so there was always a small chance that we could get a Detective Conan cross over. I just, had so many feelings when I saw Jimmy though. Most of which was extreme happiness. Now if only it’d had Richard, but i’m not going to ask for the world.
Right so, Kaito sends out a heist notice for a clock tower or as we later learn, more specifically the jewels in the hour hand of the clock tower. Everything is set and ready to go, but what’s this? an ominous crimination from Akako?
“A demon of Light will fly from the east and strike down the sinner in white, for whom the bell tolls disaster.”
Well that just doesn’t sound pleasant for Kaito’s future. regardless count on him to be totally on time even with impending doom hanging over him. So he knocks out another officer, steals their identity and goes to work. What he didn’t factor into his plans was Jimmy mother f-ing Kudo! [Yes, I have a Jimmy boner. I am aware. and yes, I’m using his dub name rather than his Japanese because as far as I’m concerned this season, Shinichi is the guy from Parasyte.] oh and Detective Nakamori is there too…but he spends most of his time telling Jimmy to butt out, RESPECT HIM NAKAMORI!
So anyway, at every turn of Kaito’s plan. Jimmy is barking orders to the police and cutting him off, luckily Kaito is just as smart and manages to get around it pulling off part of his trick. He doesn’t manage to steal the gems. [they were fake anyway.] but he did carve a message into the clock for the police to figure out and stopped it from being relocated. which was probably his plan to begin with since it had sentimental value to him and Aoko.
Though I have to say the most intense moment of the episode is when Jimmy takes Detective Megure’s gun and starts shooting away the screen that Kaito is hiding behind. I actually wanted to see a moment where they saw each other but it wasn’t in the cards. [HA magician joke.], I have to say though, I was sort of nervous seeing Nakamori so close to him as well, I mean, he does know the guy on a sort of personal level and all that really hides who he is, is that monocle. I guess your detective reasoning can’t be at it’s best holding on for dear life on the face of a clock tower.
In the way of tricks, not a lot happened this episode. This was all actually just a flashback so I don’t feel like I have a lot to write about for once. I do want to say however that I am absolutely thrilled to see a cross over with Detective Conan and I would love to see more of these cross overs. Perhaps now with Jimmy as Conan or in one of the times he takes the serum to grow him up.
It was the start of the rivalry of a century here. These two are really just two brilliant minds. I still don’t think much of Aoko, though I get the feeling the next episode might either improve or decrease my opinion of her as apparently she gets suspicious that Kaito might in fact be Kid.
Now excuse me while I re-watch this episode a few times before next week. JIMMY, I LOVE YOU MY DETECTIVE LOVE. [Now, can I get Richard up in here? I’d be in bliss!]
