We return to Gugure with a moment’s notice of something important: This show is awesome. Everything about it is just hilarious and funny. Oki has trouble with that. What the hell do I talk about? That I want to shit myself laughing? No one should be coming here to learn my bowel movements. You should all know that this show is so worth your time and fun to watch, especially if you dig humor. Keep in mind however I can’t really tell you most of what happens without ruining some pretty funny jokes.
But this time we learn the secret of Kohina’s flowers at school. . . the answer is the most tsun of deres, a girl who has been bullying Kohina by putting lovely flowers on her desk everyday. Talk about weird, most people would find it awesome to have that done for them. Is that just this anime or Japan in general? In any case Kohina doesn’t mind, and that drives her bully insane and she pile drives her. Kohina wonders if she hates her and it just turns out that that no, this bully is just a giant tsundere who has been holding something against her.
What is it? She was too nervous to talk to Kohina but wanted to be friends, and grew to hate her when she failed to notice. Eventually she accidentally became a bully. Woops.
That doesn’t last as we later see Inugami and Kokkuri deciding they want to attend school with Kohina. The best part, hands down, is watching the teachers accept it while all the little kids go “he’s an adult. . .”. Kokkuri tries to be subtle but Inugami from the getgo is awful. For instance he almost kills, gun to the head and everything, the alien student for sitting next to Kohina when he wanted to. Then he flat out turns into a girl. Good job breaking it Inugami!
While episode 5 is cute and worth watching, definitely for Kohina’s bully, 6 is probably one of the best episode’s so far. This one focuses on Kohina who is beginning to see spirits as she begins to befriend some of them. Kokkuri scolds her and tells her not to, but she befriends a flying cyclops eye and wants it to be a secret. She’s quickly found out by Shiragaki who she pays off, but it turns into so much more than that.
It’s rare for this show to have such a focus. The entire episode is essentially devoted to the growth of this character moment for Kohina as Shiragaki warns her it’s not a good idea for them to get closer. Once the cyclops licks Kohina’s wounds things go downhill south as it tries to kill Kohina in her sleep. Shiragaki was waiting and kills it in return, doing one of the only selfless and kind things in the series and receiving a scar on his face for it from the cyclops.
Fearing Kohina will cry, he takes away her ability to see spirits and plays it cool. Kohina remarks later she wanted to eat the cyclops, but it doesn’t change the fact that Shiragaki did something kind for someone no matter the reason behind it.
The last worthwhile thing about the episode was the after credits exchange between Inugami and Kokkuri, as we basically find out Inugami just inherently hates everyone and everything. The only exception to this is Kohina, which means he is not excluded. These moments make me feel bad for him until he always inevitably turns on creeper mode and starts nosebleeding on a freakin what, 5 year old? I can’t with this guy, stop ruining my affections for you!
Given that ending, the preview title ‘Love at first sight for Inugami’ is intriguing. . . oh man, are we gonna get sadomasochism in here. . .again?
Oki
In Japan, it’s customary to place flowers on the desk of classmates who have died…this comes off as a form of bullying in ep 5 because most people would interpret this as a message for her to ‘go die’ or something like that. I found the bully very funny though, I feel like that kind of friendship tsundere is rare nowadays. Seeing the guys at school was pretty funny as well, girl!Inugami was the highlight for sure (he should just stay female, seriously!)
Ep 6 totally touched my heart T///T! Shiragaki’s such a nice guy, although I guess that just means he’s successfully fooled us viewers into thinking so. He’s probably happy about the scar, hoping it’ll help him pick up chicks or something, haha~
That explains it! Thanks for the tidbit, but for someone who claims to not need to eat or breathe, a doll. . .it’s almost as if she completely missed her personality.
Bahaha, I know right?! 6 was perfect
