Greetings everyone, as we return once again to the action-tastic world of Garo! Now, what sort of incredible and exciting adventures will our heroes Herman and Leon have for us this time?

Uhh…..yeahhhhhhhhhh.

Due to him getting Zaruba, apparently the contract says the day of the new moon, the ring makes Leon slip into a coma. So..he’s pretty much out of it for the entire episode. Luckily, we have our backup protagonist, Prince Alfonso. He’s finally getting his chance to be part of the adventure.

He follows the guy who’s been saving his butt, Rafael. He’s a Makai knight for the Gaia armor, and an extreme badass.  He basically helps Alfonso catch up to speed with the audience: Mendoza is controlling Horrors and using the church and the people to wipe out the Makai Knights.

Yeah…this is not something you’d be able to fix with an apology card

Alfonso, for his part, takes it all pretty well. Finding out everything he was told was a lie, and that his family is responsible (albeit through ignorance) of the deaths of hundreds of innocent people…his answer is pretty simple.

He’s very much remaining the noble but unsure warrior. He wants to save the day, to help, but is behind the curve in terms of power. He’s strong enough to handle humans, but woefully under prepared to fight Horrors. Rafael tests his skills, and decides to train him. In comes Rafael.

Rafael is a total badass, who’s not only an incredible fighter, but also very clever. We find out he fought alongside the previous Garo, and while the previous Garo was a tough fighter, Rafael was the brains of the operation, and handled sensitive affairs. One is the handling of that Garo’s two daughters; Leon’s mother and Alfonso’s mother. So, now we know that Alfonso isn’t just connected to the Makai knights, he’s Leon’s cousin. Basically, this episode is Alfonso getting all the info on his past and the truth of his country, and then seeing how the Horrors are plaguing the world.

One thing I was feeling was the Horrors attacking Alfonso seemed really generic. I mean couldn’t we see a…

WELL THAT’S MORE LIKE IT! A giant horrible slug thing that lives up to the name ‘Horror’. There’s a truly epic fight scene which, and I know I keep saying this, just is done wonderfully.

Gotta say..my favorite is the green flaming sword…its just…yes. We also see in this fight that Alfonso is certainly brave. Even if disarmed, he’ll use pitchforks, even sticks to try and defend people. I think that’s the reason why Rafael agrees to train him, even though he’s more than an amateur.  Overall, a nice episode to get Alfonso to become more involved with the plot, and an intro to a really cool character.

Lastly, Herman is remains still a pimp in this episode.
