YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS YUZU WONNNNN!! Man, this was such a great duel! I was at the edge of my seat the entire time because I was so frantic of whether or not she would win, and I wanted her to win so badly- AND SHE DID!!!!!!!! *THROWS CONFETTI* I am so proud of Yuzu. Not once did she waver and had faith in her cards. She took some serious risks, such as relying on her ability to have judged Masumi’s nature as a duelist correctly and did an insane dive to ensure that Masumi would not get her hands on an action card. This showed us that when Yuzu puts her mind to it, she becomes a fierce badass girl who won’t go down without a fight. YOU GO GIRL! Gosh I hope she will go far into the tournament!
Major kudos to Masumi for being so cool after being defeated. I love it. I want these two girls to become friends! And if that wasn’t awesome enough, Masumi generously gave Yuzu her Crystal Rose monster knowing that it was her new ace monster Fantasia Flower Saint Bloom Diva (who is ADORABLE) that led her to victory. Had it been any other monster, I don’t know if Yuzu would have won since it ultimately comes down to its’ monster effect.
Now I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can’t help but get the feeling that Masumi might have or may develop a girl crush on Yuzu after how she made sure her monster caught Masumi’s during her fall from the final blow. The first thing that crossed my mind was, ” AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA MASUMI IS BLUSHING!!!! SOMETHING TELLS ME SHE’S GOING TO DEVELOP A GIRL CRUSH AND CONSIDER YUZU AS HER PRINCE CHARMING OR WHATEVER.”
There were only two things the bugged me though. The first is the god forsaken animation quality. Like wow, what a hot mess it was. I am glad at least they made sure the monsters turned out beautifully, but everything else- was cringe worthy. The messiest frame of all was when the first pan-shot to the audience where Yuuya and the others sat in the stands. I almost spat out my drink because it looked so ridiculous. The second of course, is Sora. GOD, I SWEAR AS EACH EPISODE GOES BY, THE SHADIER HE GETS. I absolutely hate that smug smirk on his face knowing that Shun would been stunned seeing Yuzu using Fusion Summon, and was thoroughly entertained at how he would react. This only causes me to be suspicious of Sora’s actions and question his motives even more now! But the most important thing that we need to figure out is whether or not Sora already knew Shun before coming to this dimension/timeline/wherever he came from. Another good question would be, does he possess knowledge about Reiji’s father? Does he know him? Were they an alliance or are they still so? So many questions yet so little answers that we all know we won’t be getting any time soon.
One of the things we learned was how at her family’s school, is it important to them to bond with their monsters/cards. By doing so forges that trust where they can count on their monsters to catch them when they fall, literally. LDS doesn’t focus on that, they don’t educate their students to enjoy dueling for the fun of it- the whole atmosphere is intense with a lot of pressure. These students are being taught to be winners. And that is all there is to it. Being an entertainer, having fun and encouraging students to develop a bond with their deck is not part of their program.
Although I have already discussed this particular matter a handful of times in the past: the Action Duel Stage once again showed us how dangerous it can be. It is insane really, because look how the duels have evolved. It went from standstill, to dueling riding D-Wheels (motorbikes) and now you are running around this solid vision arena that could very well lead to your death. (Okay so maybe I am exaggerating, but lets be real here: it is totally possible under these circumstances).
Next week will be Gongenzaka VS Ankokuji the bully. There is no telling who will win, but we will be certainly cheering for Gongenzaka since Ankokuji is a douche and nobody likes it when those types of characters win.
Also at this stage, I have a feeling that Yuuya’s duel might come before Sora’s- especially since the plot has made it a habit to avoid him. I wonder how much longer it will do that for as we are now reaching the 30th episode (since the odds of it happening next week is super slim).

THIS.EPISODE.WAS.EPIC!!
Holy Sh*t! This episode was so awesome that if there was any animation flaw I didn’t notice at all, it felt so dynamic and they finally used the “Action Duel” concept in the right way: Something Dynamic without being too reliant on it(I’m looking at you Yuya), Yuzu’s “Suicide Skyfall” at the end was epic, I can’t wait to see more duels from her, her monster have all good designs and cool names too!
OH, BTW, I forgot to comment this on the last episode, but how far you got into GX? It’s ok if you hated it, but you need to watch the 3rd season of GX if what I saw is true, because if the image I found isn’t fake(and it looked too real to be fake, but you never know), it will be mouth dropping, and it has to do with Yuzu. So you should watch it just in case.
Now, for the first time saying that the duelist needs to bond with their deck doesn’t sound silly or corny, but a real thing that’s necessary in Action Duels, I think it’s a nice concept, that should be explored more(can’t wait to see a Tag Duel in an Action Field).
There’s a lot of people complaining about Yuzu’s monster being too focused in being Anti-Fusion, but for once I think thisis a good thing. Her deck is tailored to go against the Fusion faction when they finally appears, which implies that she will be a reliable fighter in themiddle of the crisis, so kudos for the writers!
Other thing I liked is that instead of Schubert being the only new monster she received, Yuzu got other Fusion monster, which surprised me. I was worried that she would be shoved to the side after this duel, but they gave us another surprise by giving her another “upgrade”, in the form of the Crystal Rose monster Masumi gave, so it means she will stay revelant, Horay~!!
… And lo, I throught too that Masumi got a crush on Yuzu, which I think cements even more Yuzu’s status as the true main character*kicked*, I mean, this kind of homo vibes is achieved only by the protagonists of Yu-gi-Oh!*kicked even more*, Yuzu’s harem will turn bigger than Yuya’s at this rate XD
Consider yourself lucky that you didn’t notice the ugly flaws in the animation quality!!!!
I absolutely agree with you about finally executing the Action Duel concept the right way. But what’s interesting is because neither Yuzu or Nasumi were focused or had any intention of entertaining the crowd. They were battling for the win and that was their foremost highest priority. Won’t lie though, I certainly would love to see this atmosphere used more often despite the fact this isn’t Yuuya’s style at all. XD However I think we are likely to experience it again during Shun VS Sora match.
I did try to watch a couple of the episodes a few years back while I was obsessed with 5Ds, but I got maybe… hmmmm Well the one thing for sure is that I got real sick of the students rivalry and I recall that GX school staff were annoying. I definitely did not make it to the end of the first season/arc, that’s for sure. Is there anything in GX Season 3 that I need to be aware about to understand it correctly (otherwise I will try and marathon it from the very beginning- erm, I hope I can find the subs…) or is it simple enough to put the pieces together?
* v * I can’t wait for Tag Duel either. I am anxiously waiting to see which game comes to North America. I only have the PSP 5Ds Tag Duel which I BARELY got because the PSP was dead at that point (how I managed to find a PSP console at that point was a miracle for itself). It would be fun if we get to run around during the duel heheheheheheheh.
Again I absolutely agree with you that it was actually cool and good thing how it is like an anti-fusion deck. In fact, i loved it! I thought it was brilliant, especially when Yuzu KNEW who she was dealing with, and knew she needed a way to shut Masumi down before she could find her momentum. The fact her deck worked out pretty darn well, I thought that was a brilliant strategy. I definitely hope to see her as a reliable fighter during the crisis as well, THIS GIRL IS FIERCE! Which made me SO HAPPY because she was mopping around for so many episode because of her confusion with Yuuto and Yuuya.
You take the words right out of my mouth! XD
Well, I don’t know if the pic was legit, but let’s say that if it’s true, then knowing what happened in season 3 of GX would give a Holy Sh*t! Level of impact in who is aware of the reference. If you can’t stand GX it’s fine, the first two seasons weren’t good nor impact in what I said, it’s the 3 season that’s important, you could just read summaries for the first 2 seasons and watch the 3(which thankfult is good and dark)
Gah! I can’t get enough of this episode! I can’t wait for Yuzu’s next duel if it’s that good! ;w;
OOOH THAT SEASON, I HEARD ABOUT IT. I will definitely check it out, JUST IN CASE!! KNOWING THE REFERENCES FTW!!!!
This was a Good Episode! Yuzu won her Duel! I am so happy Yuzu won her duel! I was on the edge of my seat watching this and their were some close calls. But Yuzu won and that’s all that matters! Sora is very creepy in this Episode! Every Episode that I watch of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V that has Sora in it he gets more and more creepier! Not knowing who Sora really is and what he is up to is really creepy! I mean Sora could be working for Leo or he could be working for other evil character we don’t know about. I really want to know if Sora is good or bad and what he is up to. Also I wonder if we will get to see Leo or Ruri in this tournament? Gongenzaka duels next and I’m looking forward to this duel. I hope Sora duel is after Gongenzaka duel because I want to see who wins that duel!
